Starmer sounds deranged at PMQs

Stamer's lost it. He sounds like an angry lunatic in response to questions.

Is it a mumsnet scream everyone 'screams' constantly 😂😂😂

Obviously it's not like Ed Davy jumped out behind to scare him. He merely asked why did Starmer appointed to paedophile associates to senior roles.

I’ve just watched it. Starmer was angry, yes. But he had to shout to be heard over the yarboo hollering from the opposite benches. No screaming- good to hear him speaking passionately about what he’s doing.
And if you want to think of pathetic politicians- look at the Tory record- how many unelected Prime Ministers? The turnover of cabinet ministers was so high they should have installed revolving doors at no10.
It is going to take years to undo the damage the Tories have done to the uk.

outofsounds · 11/02/2026 13:47

Good for Ed Davey. For Keir Starmer to use the excuse that he’d been lied to once is arguably acceptable, to use the excuse a second time is starting to look like idiocy.

He must be lying on the Matthew Doyle case - it had already been front page news. It just a classic jobs for the boys. Matthew Doyle has a job for life in the Lords.

He very much reminded me of the Boris approach to PMQs.

She’s polling ahead of all other leaders in a head to head who would you prefer.

Any of the others would take that happily.

That is all well and good, but that poll isn't going to make her PM. She needs to win a GE for that and it 's not looking good for the Tories right now (or Labour of course).

It’s worse than that though isn’t it. It was information in the public domain before the appointment. And to counter Badenoch’s repeated questions with ‘But what about lockdown parties’ is ludicrous and incoherent. Whoever is advising her to keep asking the same question, no matter what he replies, is doing a good job. It clearly rattles him. As it should. There is no excuse for the appointment of Doyle.

HappiestSleeping · 11/02/2026 14:02

@Dragonflytamer I think you are representative of many. Voted for Labour because you wanted change. So, essentially, Labour didn't win the election as much as the Conservative Party lost it.

Since none of the political parties are good, we are all voting for the least worst. This in turn brings dissatisfaction much more quickly, along with an inability to recognise the achievements.

I am disappointed with Labour, but I still think they are the least worst. At least they have achieved more in their 18 odd months than the Conservatives did in 14 years.

Goldfsh · 11/02/2026 14:08

How anyone can criticize a PM who engages with the questions is beyond me.

Johnson's answers were absolute gibberish but good ole' Boris eh?

Starmer is 1000 times better than what we've seen in recent years. So he gets rattled, who cares? Everyone complains when he's 'boring'. The man can't win.

TheAutumnCrow · 11/02/2026 14:14

Dragonflytamer · 11/02/2026 12:59

Did you hear him scream at Ed Davey?

It’s ok, I told him he could take my turn for free.

finbow · 11/02/2026 14:18

It’s refreshing, isn’t it. For the pm to look like he’s losing it one time rather than being permanently deranged, like the previous people in charge.

Unfortunately I think all parties know having a leader of colour at these times isn’t what is resonating with the electorate. That’s across all political divides.

I’m not sure what you mean here, she’s beats all the men. She hasn’t always but this week she has, each week her rating goes up as Starmer goes down.

I think any leader with those two things would be happy.

I don't see that. I just see more of the same. I think the stuff coming about manipulating the waiting list numbers is very Boris like. On Times Radio this morning they were discussing how Labour are the changing the way child poverty is calculated so it will reduce by thousands purely by the maths - again seems quite Boris to me.

????

Whether or not he lost his temper (and I was inclined to think he did), nobody could accuse him of actually answering the questions. I, for one, am very interested to hear his justification for another paedophile-adjacent appointment. He just doesn’t think it matters 😱

Wolmando · 11/02/2026 14:43

It's always like some pantomime whoever is doing it and whoever is in government, waste of time

TheAutumnCrow · 11/02/2026 14:44

PMQs is not a sane representation of parliament.

It’s far worse than that.

But that’s the responsibility of a lot more people than Starmer.

There are more NHS appointments available it isn't manipulation (although there are always versions of the truth), net migration is down 69% (if that's your bag, personally I don't think it is a good thing), reducing wait times for asylum applicant processing, more money for policing (new police station opened in my town), council tax frozen, rail fares frozen, and they have either delivered, or are on track for a large proportion of their manifesto pledges (https://fullfact.org/government-tracker/ )

I think as a society, we have bought into the "instant gratification" culture, hence have no patience. It was always going to take years to undo Conservative fuck ups, and actually I am pleased Starmer hasn't buckled under his enormous error of judgement appointing Mandelson. The last thing we need right now is more instability. And let's face it, there is nobody waiting in the wings of the Labour Party who is any more credible than he is. Even less so Reform, Conservative, Liberal Dem, or Green. So we are left with him / them being the least worst.

Full Fact is monitoring the government’s delivery on its promises

He has probably been advised to appear more passionately left wing and less robotic.

“Austerity“ and „right wing media“ are the go to most cliched words of the left. And a bit of shouting to feign some „passion“.

Edited

The three main things they sold in pre GE were fully funded, fully costed
smash the gangs
and change
plus my father’s a toolmaker

The first was a corker and got left behind at the first budget, the second has meant the opposite and even Labour MPs see the Mandelson issue as undermining the change part.
The last one is the punch line

He is the worst polling PM too because he keeps losing it or other issues. Maybe he’ll turn it all around but rn he’s in a pretty bad place.

Araminta1003 · 11/02/2026 15:00

I wouldn’t be surprised if they give Starmer a full make over next, contact lenses, voice coaching, change of clothing style. He might even dye his hair. Desperate times call for desperate measures.
The boring drab Surrey grammar boy in a suit persona hasn’t worked. And Kemi has been looking stronger and better by the day.

Boudy · 11/02/2026 15:00

@HappiestSleeping I think there can be elements of wanting instant gratification in society. But overall I think many people are completely fed up with the 'jam tomorrow' rhetoric over many many years.I know I am!

Not heard but read the real time account on website of a quality newspaper.

Badenoch seemed to miss the target and wasted several of her allocation of questions.

She was quite forensic re this Doyle guy who is another paedophile labour apologist. I thought Starmer handled it quite badly to be honest - kept failing to answer the question. His performative outrage at the Lib Dem leader was a bit cringe

I didn't know his father was a tool maker? I am sure he would have mentioned it.

Also, don't confuse what I said for me thinking he is good. What I said was he is the least worst. And I think that is still the case. I think he is very disappointing to be honest, but nowhere near as disappointing as the rest would be.

Agree, she gets positive comments too on SM whereas Starmer the opposite, very much so.

I also think he was asked to put a bit more passion in after his supposedly successful PLP address. The trouble is it’s bad and doesn’t go well at PMQs, he just loses it instead.
