@Springonway1 said "No consequences from scrutiny if you're Labour. And thats because the left believe in their own virtue. They can behave as badly as they like but because they are "good" they don't need to bear the consequences."

This isn't true.

Following scrutiny Labour MPs Louise Haigh, Andrew Gwynne and Rushanara Ali have all been sacked or asked to resign from the Labour party during Keir Starmer's leadership.

But not Keir Starmer himself. And plenty of his own Cabinet.

And yet the left dredge up allegations that cannot be proven either way against NF from 50 years ago and go nuts about them.

Theres a phrase in the Bible about this sort of behaviour involving specks and planks of wood.

Posting up a picture of Farage supporting the hunt is never a waste of time. If it makes one person realise that he supports animal cruelty my time wasn't wasted. If you're not interested in that or too busy for the full picture of the type of man he is then you can just scroll on.

I suspect the issue of blood sports is not the priority of most people in the UK and will habe no effect on how they vote. If you ban hunting it would be consistent to ban fishing and that's going to go down well. But fishing is not such a class issue (which is the reason chippy Labour want to now ban trail hunting. They feel the "wrong sort" do it. Which of course proves that they have no idea of what actually happens. And what a lot of blood will be spilled when all those beautiful hounds get destroyed).

Labour is the party of the city dwellers anyway. Most country people can't stand them. Reform is now the party of farmers for example.

BohoGarden · 03/01/2026 14:07

It wasn't 50 years ago. Farage was late teens so it was nearer 40 years ago.

Evidence from a wide range of sources that a potential future leader was at 17 a racist, bully who sang Nazi songs to Jewish pupils is worth considering in some depth.

Springonway1 · 03/01/2026 14:08

BohoGarden · 03/01/2026 13:38

Blair regretted the amount of time the debate took, not the actual banning of fox hunting.

Over 75% of the UK population are against hunting so most people do agree with the ban.

Also Blair regretted it as it damaged rural relations. At least he can realise the error of his ways.

Its an obvious political hit job. Most people can see it. It's sets a bad and unfair precedent now. It means everyone in public life is fair game and can be judged on something they said when they were a child. Left or right. Is that what we want? It will deter most people particularly as most people wont remember what they said at school 40 years ago. And nothing can ever be proven re NF either way.

Anyone who supports that is mental. Sorry.

What about the 114 Labour MPs who represent rural areas?

Do you live rurally @Springonway1 because where I live on Exmoor I see a very different picture to the one you describe.

Blood sports might not be a priority for many people but animal welfare is.

He was 17 - 18. Not a child.

But, if we're not to judge him on that, then concentrating on his performance as an MEP would be reasonable. He was an appalling MEP wasn't he.

What do you think about the trail hunting ban? What animals are harmed doing it? And what do you think about the thousands of hounds having to be put down?

Yes I do live very rurally. Labour got in by a fluke. It won't happen again.

Fluffyholeysocks · 03/01/2026 14:21

Its weird how this stuff can be dredged up about Farage from 40/50 years ago but no one was aware of the more recent SM posts of the Egyptian activist that had apparently been ' top priority' for UKMG.

He was a child age 17. Were you virtuous when you were a child in the 1970s when times were very different? And if you weren't a child growing up in the 1970s who are you to cast judgement on other people.

And we only have the word of politically motivated people to support the accusations. I know Labour are excited about it. But it's desperate and hasnt affected polling. It won't affect the view of anyone who would vote Reform anyway. Only the lefties and there won't be many of those left in 2029.

Re being an MEP the job of voters is to decide who to vote for. If they vote for him then thats up to them. Keir Starmer is hardly doing a great job!!

I would like to see trail hunting banned. Foxes are still killed by the hunt. There have been hundreds of prosecutions over the years. Also, for a great many country people the hunt is destructive and a nuisance, blocking roads, horses and hounds straying onto roads, terrier men, cubbing. Yeah, I'd like it stopped.

Also would like to see Stag hunting banned. Terribly cruel and happening every week in season on Exmoor.

The ban happened 20 years ago. Why have hunts continued to breed dogs in large numbers.

I am the same age as Nigel Farage. I knew well enough then, as did my contemporaries that bullying, racism and singing Nazi songs was wrong.

We were closer to the second world war then, people all had relatives who had fought and lost people. War crime trials were regularly on the news. Rock Against Racism was happening right then.

Only a total wrong 'un/maniac would be doing what Farage did in the 1970s.

Allegedly did. As I said, nothing can be proven either way. Innocent until proven guilty is still a thing.

The witch hunt of a child is wrong. And bad for politics and justice.

1dayatatime · 03/01/2026 14:37

Getting back on topic there there are 42 incidents linking foxes with Epstein.

I guess that makes all those criticising trail hunts and defending foxes to be sympathetic towards Epstein.

Nigel Farage has 41 mentions in the Epstein Files and counting

They bred the dogs because trail hunting was still legal.

Now Labour are moving the goal posts and leading to a massive spill of blood to save a couple of pests that are mistakenly chased.

Labour politicians don't seem to get the same scrutiny.

Ha! Ha! Ha! Have you ever seen The Daily Telegraph, The Daily Mail, The Sun, The Express? Not to mention the other papers that also scrutinise the Labour Party despite not being overtly as right leaning?
