Frustrating neighbour.

One of our neighbours is part of The Palestine Action group and constantly posts all over social media. His partner is an activist - seems to hate every British Company and is part of the Stop Oil group. She drives a petrol car and has gas central heating. They are very wealthy and pay for others to do everything for them. He appears on TV now and then as a chef and is very smiley but seems to hate Britain. They have divided our neighbourhood. A the moment I ignore them, by avoiding them, which is what they do too. But I wish people could see how hypocritical these people can be. All their wealth is inherited and if you want a typical champagne socialist there you have them.

I what way are they ‘dividing your neighbourhood’? Just don’t follow them on social media, surely. I have zero interest in my neighbours’ politics or income.

bleakmidwintering · 17/12/2025 06:12

Right! My neighbour has a support Palestine flag up in her window. I’ve literally only thought about it once in addition to now. Are they harming you in any way? What’s your real beef with them op? Jealous maybe?

Zonder · 17/12/2025 09:16

You seem pretty overinvested in your neighbours.

bigboykitty · 17/12/2025 09:20

Do you need to get more of a life of your own @Vivienne1000 ? You sound really over-invested and judgmental.

I can’t tell you what else he does because he might recognise me. But needless to say he is a psycho. The group has been banned, so why are we all supporting it?

Hardly. I ignore them.
i work all hours. They put posters and rubbish up in their windows, which unfortunately I have to pass.

They post it on the neighbourhood chat as well.
And I am not coming off that, for some bumped up activist

Get a life, a hobby and spend some time with your loved ones.

They’re not directly impacting you in anyway and this thread has been started to do some good old bashing.

DaisyChain505 · 17/12/2025 18:21

People can have all sorts of different opinions, as long as they’re being good neighbours to you what does it matter?

I will stick to my principles. I have a life. I go out and work. Full time. I also care for a parent.
Maybe you should get a life yourself. Everyone in my family goes out to work and makes a difference. I have travelled the world. I am a qualified nurse. What’s your amazing life?

I washed my car. He called me an effing bitch. Some of my water may possibly pollute his drive…

Is he a well known tv personality

BigFenianEnergy · 17/12/2025 21:40

Petrol isn’t that bad and swapping her already made car for one made of all new parts that haven’t been ethically sourced isn’t exactly environmentally friendly so possibly this is a choice she has made.

sorry, can’t hate them based on what you’ve said. Just continue to avoid them. It could be worse - they could be flag shaggers.

blankcanvas3 · 17/12/2025 22:12

Unfollow on social media, don’t watch him on television, don’t look at their posters. It’s all very simple. I can’t believe you’re this bothered. Mind your own business and you won’t be so upset about it

BeepBoopBop · 17/12/2025 22:33

One of my favourite actresses ever, bought my old house. She fronted a campaign against the oil and gas industry and I listened to her pontificating away about saving the environment.
Perhaps she used the money to buy my old house as a second home. No double glazing as Grade II listed, 4 oven oil-fired Aga, oil fired central heating, two log burners and an open fire. Bet she drives an electric car in town though 😁

climbintheback · 17/12/2025 22:36

Get some Union flags up - that’ll teach em!

People with truly fulfilling lives do not hold the information you have for your neighbours.

TheCommonWoMan · 17/12/2025 22:51

I wonder if you are one of my neighbours!
Though a few differences, so no, it won't be the same couple. Ours is also an occasional TV chef, big on Palestine action and also has an activist wife.

If the they post everything about lives on the neighbourhood chat, Tik Tok, Insta etc, guess what? They want everyone to know. What a strange thing not to realise this? Are you living on a different planet or do you spend all day hacking people off on MN?

OK, well surely you’re used to encountering different political opinions in your life? If it’s in a context where you could avoid them by leaving, but choose not to, then you need to find a way of letting them flow over you without getting so irate.

If it’s against the rules of your neighbourhood chat, ask the admin to give them a polite warning? Or do what my area’s WhatsApp apparently did before we moved here, when someone kept posting reams of his own poetry to the neighbourhood group — someone started a new WhatsApp and migrated everyone apart from the poet.

Remove yourself from the chat. Mute it. Scroll past it. I’m sorry the thread hasn’t turned out into a Palestine bashing one for you.

I have no idea what my neighbours post on tik tok, insta etc because I don't follow any of them.

nfkl · 18/12/2025 08:35

All the Pro Pally are going to shame, harass and gaslight you here OP, don’t mind their snide comments.

If they flood your neighbour chat with their bilge, you can remind them the chat should stay politically neutral and inclusive

If they act like twats and you have evidence, put it on social media or try to get it to a journalist if worth it

If they bother you and breach the law, don’t hesitate to call the police, it will always look good on their files and for their PR

"Petrol isn't that bad" 😂😂😂

Is that why Ed Miliband is forcing us all to buy electric cars?

I can tell you my thoughts on supporting Palestine Action. The group has taken a stand against the UK supplying weapons to kill and maim innocent civilians in Gaza. They have occasionally been involved in demos where someone has been hurt but they are far from being terrorists. At demos I have only met peaceable concerned citizens who want the people living in Palestine to be free and safe, including the Jews living there. It's deeply concerning that people with these beliefs are being arrested in the UK.
