After days and days of negative press and chatter about income tax going up, complaints on Mumsnet and across the media, today’s reports are that idea might be dropped and now she’s being accused of rattling the markets and making the cost of borrowing increase.

Honestly, genuine question- what can she do?

I don’t think we can compete with AI can we, no matter how much we suppress wages?

Sadly that means our kids will have to look elsewhere.

Where will be safe from AI?

Nowhere.
AI will create new types of jobs and many current jobs will continue to exist, though they may evolve. But we shouldn’t pretend that low-skilled and repetitive jobs will remain available at the same scale, they won’t. The sensible response is to invest in education, digital skills, and practical trades like plumbing or gardening that are harder to automate.

Yes, exactly this. The job market will recalibrate, those jobs that can’t be automated will become highly desirable.

I agree we need huge investment in education, we have overlooked the young for decades though. i can’t see that changing.
