A simple question for those of you who voted Labour at the last GE - tactically or for the first time etc., (not those of you who are dyed in the wool socialists).

How are you now feeling about your decision, honestly?

Tell me, without telling me, you dont understand economics.

Not very original.

They had 10 years - before Covid - 2 terms to improve the nation, what did they do? increased the national debt by 20%, gave us austerity, which has cost us money, spent 5 years arguing over how to leave the EU and forgot about governing.
Brexit is one, among many reasons, the Cons messed up.

All of what you want costs billions - where from??? Reeves would love to do what you suggest.
Scrap planning laws? and have even more unfavourable headlines? even reducing them has the Mail in a fit.

Starmer, as a PM is more popular than Farage and Badenoch, so wont be going anywhere.

However, at present, Labour wont win outright, but 4 years is a very long time.

Stockholm syndrome in play here.

Many life long Labour voters are simply too stubborn to admit what is actually happening. They have been sold a pup but have to pretend otherwise to save face as 80% of the electorate knew this would happen.

It’s nice to have a normal PM rather than the chaos of The Conservatives.

He’s the worst PM in living memory with the most inexperienced and incompetent cabinet you could ever imagine.

It is embarrassing.

Is this way so many tory voters seem to think the last 14 years were a success & we should have given them another chance??

wonderstuff · 30/08/2025 07:51

I still think they’re the least worse option.

If you can’t see how much worse things are now then I actually feel sorry for you. Just have a look at gilt rates if you are still in denial. They are disastrous and indicative of just how poorly this government is performing.

If they had any genuine care for the people of the UK they’d call a GE now. Unfortunately they don’t, so they won’t.

Littlemessymiss · 30/08/2025 07:56

I didn’t vote for this lot. Thank god. I’d be a turkey voting for Christmas.
As a small business owner, a farmer and a parent of an autistic child in private education I have been well and truely shafted. Can’t wait for the mansion tax on the family farm house.
I also didn’t vote Tory.
I’m politically homeless.

Really? So you are a toddler typing on your mum's phone and don't remember Liz Truss? Or her predecessor.

Depends on how long you’ve lived. Margaret Thatcher was the worst PM l can remember and the country is still suffering, both economically and socially from the effects of her terms in government.

itsgettingweird · 30/08/2025 08:01

I’m happy with my decision still.

Have a look at what Liz Truss actually did and compare it to RR. Look at what the impact on gilt rates was and compare it to now. Then go and compare the media reaction and indeed Labours reaction to both situations and then come back and tell me that we’re not in a far worse situation now entirely down to Labour decisions.

What makes you happy? Do you just want more free stuff from others who work more than you?

This surely can’t be a serious comment.

Yes Truss took 10yr gilt yields from 1.8% to 4.4%.... the BoE had to issue 65bn of QA, DC pensions collapsed.
Both Truss and Kwarteng had to resign or we faced economic collapse.

10yr gilts now 4.7%

You clearly have no idea of the seriousness of what she did.

You said he is the worst PM in living memory. Truss was booted out by her own party in days for damage limitation. I just said you obviously weren't born then.

The media forced their hand in much the same way as it protects RR now.

“The party told you to reject the evidence of your eyes and ears. It was their final, most essential command.”

Rarely has a quote resonated as much as this one does now.

They are 30year ones, not 10year, but we'll stick with those if you like?

0.7% higher than in oct 2023 vs what happened under Truss, a rising trend ever since..

I actually feel like they’re doing a decent enough job given a terrible situation. It’s been such a relief not to have the chaos we had under the Tories.

Agree 100% How many Ministers? PM's, even General Elections. Cameron, May, Johnson, Truss and Sunak.

FIVE Prime Ministers inside 6 years - FOUR General elections in 8 years, should have been hat over 20 years!
