Who would you vote for in a general election tomorrow?

If the next GE was tomorrow, who would you vote for? I've been unimpressed at decisions made by Labour since they came in and just don't have much faith in their long term plans. I've never even considered voting Tory, but also don't really see Labour doing much more to improve things for anyone. Will be interesting to see how things are in a few years time when the next GE comes round. Am I missing some really good stuff Labour are implementing?

Labour again.

I couldn't not vote but Lib Dems are useless, Green have no chance and I'll die before I vote Tory or Reform.

Labour have inherited an absolute shitshow and have been in for 5 minutes so we really need to give them some time, although I wouldn't be sad if Starmer was replaced as PM. He's way to centrist for my taste.

Yellowshirt · 29/06/2025 01:54

Reform

Yellowshirt · 29/06/2025 02:06

@ncforschoolhelp So you think Labour are doing a good job?
Working people can't even afford the most basic of living costs whilst our taxes are funding the purchase of F35 aircraft for nuclear bombs. A never ending war with zero tactics in Ukraine and open borders when the country is at absolute breaking point with houses and public services.
I just want someone with common sense so it actually pays to work because at the moment the majority of people would be better off going to the doctor with mental health issues and just claim benefits.

unsurewhattodoaboutit · 29/06/2025 06:50

@fanmeplsi don’t think they actually even realise that UKIP and Reform are the same. They are that stupid!

scalt · 29/06/2025 06:53

We must remember that most of the mainstream media are owned by tories, so they will always be on the Tories’ side, whether they’re in government or not. This is one reason we’re hearing so little about what Labour are achieving, and Starmer is not good at telling the press himself.

Guavafish1 · 29/06/2025 06:53

Green

SatsumaDog · 29/06/2025 06:53

Whoever is most likely to get Labour out.

Westfacing · 29/06/2025 06:58

I'm so bloody annoyed with Starmer and very disappointed with all his flip-flopping but I would with great reluctance vote Labour - there is no alternative

Helpmeplease2025 · 29/06/2025 07:01

fanmepls · 28/06/2025 23:34

Those of you who are going to vote Reform - what exactly you expect them to do?

I think it's

Stopping the boats
Reducing taxes
Improving public services

😆😆😆😆

I’d like the local hotel which is currently housing migrants closed. No one lets their kids out in our little village alone now.

LavenderBlue19 · 29/06/2025 07:03

Whoever is most likely to beat Reform (and the Tories, but they're dead in the water at the moment).

Around here that'll be Lib Dem, which suits me fine because going back into the EU is the most sensible thing we can do.

I am horrified by all the people being taken in by Nigel Farage. I'm not saying some of the immigration people are bothered about isn't a problem, but I'd rather that problem was worked on by people who are not massive racists and Trump sympathisers.

nearlylovemyusername · 29/06/2025 07:04

fanmepls · 28/06/2025 23:57

why are you so fucking stupid?

It's unbelievable that they haven't learned from Brexit, we've been here already people!

I do think many don't want to acknowledge the realities of our economic situation so they would rather choose bullshit. I'm sure plenty don't believe the bullshit but they will still vote for someone lying to them because they prefer the lie.

Maybe it's us (Remainers, anti-Reform) who haven't learned from Brexit?

We haven't learned that calling people stupid doesn't encourage them to revisit their views and vote different?

ThroughThickAndThin01 · 29/06/2025 07:05

Never Reform or Labour.

Probably Conservative although seems like a wasted vote these days, I really wish they could get their act together.

IShouldNotCoco · 29/06/2025 07:06

As a lifelong Labour voter I don’t think I could ever vote for them again after the nasty things they’ve done to vulnerable people.

Probably Green.

Nothing encourages them to revisit their ‘views’. People wanted us out of the EU because they resented the growing Polish community.

Now, they are still whining about other immigrants and ‘the boats’.

Please tell us what they achieved?

I'm serious with this question. As of now Labour are the only possible challenge to Reform. I'll vote for whoever can help to stop them (stop Reform I mean) so really keen on seeing something positive in Labour

Labour are closing the hotels, slowly. They've sped up court cases and are moving people in the hotels to larger facilities. I'm not sure that's a good idea because they tend to be very isolated, but I can see the appeal.

Immigrants have been housed in hotels for many, many years. I worked in a cheap hotel in the early 2000s and we had a few living there long-term then.

What strikes me is how many people are voting for a party to 'keep X out' or because they 'want anyone but X" - it's telling that none of the parties are inspiring or have our confidence. Once again it's a hold your nose and vote for the least worse option.

CurlewKate · 29/06/2025 07:19

Hold my nose and Labour. As someone said-a vote isn’t a marriage proposal-it’s public transport. No use waiting for the “one”-the bus that’ll take you exactly where you want to go. You get the one that will get you the nearest. And for me, that’s Labour.

iwentjasonwaterfalls · 29/06/2025 07:20

Plaid Cymru. I think it'll be between Plaid and Reform in my constituency, but I think Reform will win.

I would die before ever voting for Reform and it's the only party where I would end a friendship with someone if I found out they voted for them (totally at odds with my values as a person, not just political ideas), but part of me thinks ok, vote them in. Let them shit themselves because it was never supposed to go this far; let them bring in all their Trump policies, let them be massively shit (which let's face it, they will be) - it gives the others five years to get their act together and form a decent opposition, and then maybe we can have the grown ups back in the room.

I'm not sure I believe there are grown ups in politics anymore.

I agree. It's very dispiriting. I believe that as women died for us to vote I can't just not bother either.

F35s which we can only use if America allows us to.

HappyHedgehog247 · 29/06/2025 07:38

Labour.

  1. I think he's doing a good job of tricky international politics- he's good at facing into practical things that need negotiating like the tariffs.
  2. Domestically he's willing to tackle deeply divisive topics like the welfare bill
  3. I see some focus around NHS
  4. I like that he seems to have integrity cf Boris- I don't think he's having affairs or having his house wallpapered at a million dollars, the news is about the politics not the personality
i think they are crap at PR, have made some Mis-steps and underestimate the need for vision/hope/inspiration as well as getting to work on all the tricky stuff
