WTF is happening? It’s like some bizarre performance art piece.

He’s holding up signs and shouting and throwing out hats it’s just 🤯

What an absolute shitshow. I feel so bad for the USA. For all the everyday citizens like you and me and also for those who believe in him. May the next four years pass quickly for all concerned.

AnnieRose24 · 02/04/2025 22:54

Trump is imposing a 10% tariff on the Heard and McDonald Islands.

The Heard and McDonald Islands are uninhabited.

I can hear it playing at my neighbors house - they are cheering !

They are saying “ it’s the end of neo-liberalism!! Hurrah! “

Catchy!

Barney16 · 02/04/2025 22:59

My cup runneth over. He's now doing a press briefing, well a briefing for the "press" he lets in and there are FOUR boards.

CliantheLang · 02/04/2025 23:02

Calm down, dear. We're destroying globalism for you.

You can thank us later. 😁

OonaStubbs · 02/04/2025 23:07

I think it is a good thing. What is wrong with encouraging Americans to buy American and support their own workers and economy? We should do the same here.

lifeonmars100 · 02/04/2025 23:09

I have had a brief online scour to see what madness he is unleashing but am not feeling strong enough to look and listen as he makes me feel ill. Yesterday's photos of Trump, Kid Rock (FFS!) in the Oval Office with that ridiculous "Gulf of America" map in the background was enough to make me decide to avoid all sight and sound of the lunatic today.

groovylady · 02/04/2025 23:12

I don't think he knows how to use a laptop/slide deck....

You clearly know nothing about global economics. For a start the US doesn’t make a lot of the things it needs. You don’t just set up manufacturing plants overnight

Where is this watchable?

I wondered that. I know there was something on the news about tariffs.

GoodOldTrayBake · 02/04/2025 23:18

Can someone pleeeease send a screenshot of this “board”??? It sounds too good to be true

Musk has quit today apparently! Hardly made much news.

All so deeply weird.

Has he? from what, that DOGE nonsense? did he flounce off in a rage? I am not doubting you but I haven't seen anything about it. Last thing I saw about Musk was a picture of him wearing a hat in the shape of a massive piece of cheese!. He's another one I can't stand the sight or sound of so I never click on anything about him

Slimbear · 02/04/2025 23:19

Surely if he moves the manufacturing to the US the price of some goods will go up because American workers earn more than Chinese or Taiwanese workers. Which means American consumers won’t be happy.

This will encourage businesses to set up US plants and create jobs.

It really isn’t that simple. The US doesn’t manufacture everything it needs so the US public will be paying a great deal more for anything imported. Trump doesn’t know what he’s talking about and unfortunately he’s not the only one. He said to ready ‘Economics for Dummies’.

Which British phone should I buy next? What about chocolate - I like chocolate, but the beans are a bugger to grow here. I'm looking forward to quiet nights in with only iPlayer and ITVx to watch with none of that Netflix or Amazon stuff. Who wants all those foreign programmes?

Mumwithbaggage · 02/04/2025 23:25

Does anyone else find themselves shouting lots of expletives at the TV these days?

TheDevilWearPrimarni · 02/04/2025 23:26

@OonaStubbs
You can’t set up manufacturing overnight. It will take time to set up and build a supply chain and train workers. Typical populist, simple answers to complex problems.

His hair looks like it’s been woven by elves. I love the way the whole delicate construction keeps lifting up and down, we can so nearly see the smooth dome underneath.

That made me laugh. When I look at him, which isn't often as he is so repulsive, I often wonder how many bronzer compacts he gets through in a month. I imagine the compact all worn down with the metal showing through and the horrible manky brushes that is is applied with. I am sure he thinks he looks fabulous , glowing with health and so manly!

Let’s say foreign made cars go up by…I dunno $5000 each.

US made cars can’t become magically widely available overnight. Plants need set up. Workers found, trained, and employed.

Many of the parts they will need cross in and out of the US multiple times before getting near a vehicle, and they’ll have tariffs imposed every time, drastically inflating prices way above what they are now.

By the time you can readily buy a US car, the price of them will have been hiked to match foreign cars (because why wouldn’t you do that) and Trump will be out of office or dead.

And that’s just cars - this goes for every single thing people want or need to buy really.

I feel sad for them too but they did vote for him. And not enough citizens came out to vote against him. Kamala was v clear when she outlined the consequences of his economic plan. People knew.

It’s all awful for the world.

MrsWhipstonSnippet · 02/04/2025 23:35

What's his fap with the UK?
WTF does that little poisoned banana want with us?

girlswillbegirls · 02/04/2025 23:36

😂 exactly my thoughts!

MrsWhipstonSnippet · 02/04/2025 23:36

And yes, I too don't feel sad for the electorate.

It’s like a 1980s game show chart.

I forgot to quote this- 😂
