Does anyone think there's a real chance of conscription?

I keep hearing the word bandied around and it's starting to turn me into a conspiracy theorist! I have two boys of 'fighting age' (I've two girls too but I assume they won't be first) I don't want any of my children to be sent to war especially someone else's war! You can bet your life Starmers kids won't be sent!

There could be conscription in any country if a war happens. Otherwise, no.

There was a lot on the news last weekend about conscription. I spoke to DS about it and he said he wound not go. I'm not sure how they would make people go in this day and age especially with EHRC?

Frankly if they send all the young fit and able young men and women off to war who's going to pay for those that remain here that are too sick to go, because evidently there's a lot of people in that group.

War is fought with drones and cyber warfare, and by installing useful idiots in the White House, and getting useful idiots to vote for Brexit, and arranging for an empty ship to crash into a tanker full of US military fuel

Well, the thing is there wouldn’t be a choice about going if it’s conscription. There would also be numerous ways to enforce it, on a continuum of severity. If we got to a hot war where we would have to conscript individuals, ECHR would go out the window. Look how quickly things happened, and the degree of social compliance during lockdown one.

I think that would be a huge part of it, but it wouldn’t be limited to this. One of the shocking things about the Ukraine war was the return to literal trench warfare.

I wasn’t assigning blame singularly. I was expressing a concern for the press’ ability to rile up more than just our own countrymen.

I also found it disgusting the way the press leeched off Covid and treated us all and people who were sick and dying as fodder for their entertainment profit angle.

I really don’t see how they could enforce it. I think there would be rioting. Many young men will just refuse and if they are made to go along they can just refuse the training. It’s so very different now to previous WWs.

I think if we got to the point where conscription was necessary due to an imminent risk, attitudes would very quickly change.

Life in an army prison or getting shot at has a tendency to make people change their mind.💅

And once the political will is there the army is 100% willing to shoot UK citizens on UK soil.
