Ex-leader of Reform in Wales accused of taking bribes for pro-Russia messages

" The former leader of Reform UK in Wales appeared in court on Monday accused of accepting bribes in exchange for making statements in the European parliament that would benefit Russia.
Nathan Gill is facing eight counts of bribery and one of conspiracy to commit bribery. The court heard he allegedly received money from former Ukrainian politician Oleg Voloshyn to make statements about events in the country that were supportive of Russia’s narrative, according to the Press Association.
His comments in the European parliament and in articles written for news outlets were “supportive of a particular narrative” that would “benefit Russia regarding events in Ukraine”, the court heard. His media appearances included 112 Ukraine, a pro-Russian channel that was banned by Ukraine in 2021."

I don't understand why it's not on front pages of all accessible news outlets, esp given developments in US.

That’s got be really annoying for them, they invest all that time and money in bojo and he stabs them in the back.

That’s the Boris we know and despise.

So you are now condemning Johnson for not being a Russian sympathiser? Explain how that is a bad thing?

If you support Ukraine, you should at least be capable of affording Johnson some credit for his stance on this issue.

I note you didn’t say Tory 😂

Labour are seriously shady. Antisemitic, sexist, and I hold them responsible for the grooming gangs cover up.

Funny that... Labour haven't been in power for over 14 years, the Police and justice system are the responsibility of the Govt....

The Tories could and should of sorted out Police inaction on rape gangs, the Tories alone are responsible for the lack of action over the last 14 years.

But it does seem to be a Tory thing to blame the opposition for their own failures.... last week immigration, now its defence and for you, rape gangs.

@TheNuthatch Johnson did well on Ukraine, no one should seek to take that away from him.

Mad thread, everyone just flinging sympathiser posts. This is correct

To All,

Reform are top of the Polls. As per Talkinpeace, polls are reliable.

Over and out.

Weefreetiffany · 26/02/2025 09:37

Uff that derail was too easy. Lets focus on the outrageous treason please.

GlobeTrotter2000 · 26/02/2025 09:57

At WiFi Any Tiff,

It’s possible to quote examples from most parties and governments of back tracking, false promises, etc. Likewise, whenever a new government is elected, all they do is to blame the previous government for the mess they have inherited.

Blame allocation, as opposed to spelling out how problems will tackled, may explain why the turnout at elections has declined from 84% in 1950 to 60% in 2024.

After decades of either a Conservative Party or Labour Party in power, maybe people are moving to Reform in the hope that a party who has never been in power deserves a chance to prove themselves?

I don't think the people here care that much about treason, or don't know what it means. Farage has been at Putin's heel for years.🙄

This is what the polls looked like four years before the last election. That all went well, didn’t it? Polls now mean absolutely nothing, they couldn’t be less relevant.

Farage has now declared that convicted criminal George Cottrell paid for flights from Teterboro in New Jersey to Palm Beach where Farage met with Musk

TheNuthatch · 26/02/2025 10:51

At least Scottish Labour MP Gimmel paid for his own flight to Trump's inauguration.

No, I think he is a Russian sympathiser who was bought and paid for but didn’t stay bought.

Kendodd · 26/02/2025 18:25

Anyway, they could plaster this all over the news, it wouldn't make a difference. Nigel Farage could fly to Moscow to be given a medal by Putin for services to Russia, then back home to his cheering Reform supporters. He wouldn't lose a single voter.

Kendodd · 26/02/2025 18:26

Likewise Trump

Old fag breath is the only leader not to make a statement about the anniversary of the invasion of Ukraine today.

Funny that, innit?

I appreciate you don't like certain people, but is it really worth stopping to the level of juvenile personal insults like that? Surely those sorts of remarks are a worse reflection of the person who makes them than those they are aimed at. There are plenty of valid remarks to make about their policies, statements and actions without having to resort to personal insults. I get you don't like him, but surely if we want better politics we need to do better than this.

I call most politicians by their proper names most of the time. Farage, however, is a repellent stain on British politics who has caused damage to the UK and spread terrible discord.

Calling him old fag breath is pretty polite, tbh. If that makes me a bad person in your eyes, I can live with that.

Thats fine, but don't complain about the quality of discourse when you're helping them to drag it down. I don't like it when people make nasty remarks about female politicians appearances, even when I disagree with the politics of their target. There's nothing gained by getting into the gutter

You should tell that to Farage then. Odd that you're holding Mumnetters to a higher standard than the leader of the party you voted for.Hmm

It is odd how you are so concerned about me calling Farage a silly, childish name.

He is an absolutely vile and dangerous man whose discourse stirs up hatred and division. I would say he is in the gutter, but that would be an insult to gutters.

I think the accusations of Johnson being some kind of Putin puppet need to stop. He may have made some mistakes in the past, but his unwavering support for Ukraine continues to this day. He was one of the first to step forward and support Ukraine.

Boris wasn’t really up for Brexit, it was an opportunity. Publicly he may well back anything, but that not necessarily what he thinks

Yes and he caused huge damage to the UK in doing so, what does that make him?
I can have some respect for a genuine brexitier but what Bojo did was criminal.

But does that make him a Putin stooge, maybe, certainly a useful idiot.
