Feeling utterly depressed after reading some of the newly released court transcripts on the Pakistani rape gangs. Then on top of this, the attitude of some of my ( middle class) female friends - omg - saying things like they were little slags - and knew what they were doing. Vulnerable kids labelled little slags ? They were 11 and 12 yrs old!! My faith in humanity is all but lost. Maybe it’s the beginning of the year but there is a part of me that wants to empty my savings account, take the dog and fuck off somewhere away from people, but I can’t because I have to cocking work 🙄

Yes OP, sadly I am with you in feeling like this. I used to be such an idealist and always thought we humans could create a better world. No longer. I completely ignore the news these days as it all just makes me angry and miserable.

To a certain extent 'grooming' has always gone on and many people might believe the girls aren't being harmed because they're doing it willingly. I think you can extend that to prostitution, strippers, only fans, etc.

What happened to those girls was absolutely monstrous and the cover up compounds the harm. Surely no one can think that is OK?

The transcripts are truly horrific to read but I'm glad that they have been brought to light again so we don't forget what happened to those poor children. I can't even imagine how you recover from what happened to them, no amount of therapy can make you forget that.

I live in one of the town affected so it isn't new here. Nobody I know has anything but anger and sympathy for the victims and it is regularly discussed locally.
Have a look at the Maggie Oliver Foundation and donate if you can. She has campaigned, helped and fought for these girls for over a decade now.

Most grooming is done by white men government stats show this in terms of percentages of each population in the uk white men are over represented while other ethnic groups are under represented

That's truly awful but I'm afraid it's the same as what the social workers, teachers and the police thought!
As far as I know not one of them has lost their job, been prosecuted or even reprimanded. Those poor girls were let down by everyone.

There was even a report issued the other day that said, in the UK, non-UK people were 3.5 times more likely than a UK person to be arrested for a sexual offence and that the percentage of foreign people arrested for sexual offences in many counties was higher than 20% and a good number over 30%.

Foreign nationals. I was countering the implication that on a pro-rate basis the majority of sexual offences were carried out by British white men.

I was thinking about it actually and they are so afraid of being called right wing - it’s like the worst insult. Im actually quite working
class and left leaning although probably not by todays standards!! I don’t think I really ever fitted in - there have been many “ wtf” moments. I have other friends - these are dropped.

My depression is that these girls were denigrated by so called friends. The feelings I have for these girls is deep sorrow and shame that they have been let down. I’m sure your comment is inaccurate. These were predominantly Pakistani men and white girls - that is proven a fact. There are sex offenders of all colours and creeds - all equally disgusting. I mean they covered up Jimmy savilles heinous crimes for years - I was specially talking about the rape gangs highlighted after the release of the courts transcripts ( that I wish I had not read) hope that helps.
