I have not voted
Reform and live in a safe tory seat But I voted
Lib dem tactical vote

I said ages Ago on here the reform would do really well and was shouted down.

Same as brexit, no one will admit voting for reform but
They still do it in droves it seems.

I'm Willing to bet they
Might win an election in four years at this rate!!

Scary

Wanting stricter immigration control does not mean you are a racist.

No but voting for the Reform Party does mean you are racist!

I would like to point out that the Reform Ltd contract promised to continue migration at current levels.

What was someone saying about people and reading?

Their policy is this “The party also said it will end illegal immigration and vastly reduce legal migration by leaving the European Convention on Human Rights (ECHR) and introducing a “one in, one out” migration quota.”

So that is no net immigration, not the current 750,000 a year net immigration.

What was someone saying about people and reading?

People who do not vote have no right to an opinion.

It’s badly punctuated, but the OP did vote Lib Dem.

Its interesting because I thought Brexit included reducing immigration and in fact it has risen significantly. So I wouldn't trust anything that comes out his mouth.
I also would note that you might get a lot more of the outs if they come into power (if anyone lets people in any more- it may come to a point where no one wants British immigrants and no one can escape) and therefore a lot more in too (which I don't think is terrible but I imagine those who voted for them do)

Who the FUCK voted for Nigel Farage.

He's a snake. He triggers every instinctive alarm in my body.

It's like if Trump had a brain and the ability to calculate a rational plan.

I transparently am tired of the racist shit that gets pushed on people who are not white by those who think they are more enlightened and can tell them how they should vote and what they can think.

Enlightend is not a word that I connect with the average Reform voter. As for the 'racist shit', you and your narrow mindset brought that to the table.

LiterallyOnFire · 05/07/2024 06:46

You would think Nigel would have got the Russian bot farms to learn the word for 'pub'

OMG. That's flagrant.

There are about 17000 illegal migrants to the UK each year, so that is not really a significant problem.

Farage was very clear as is the Reform Ltd Contract that they would continue migration for those who fulfil essential roles, which means roughly at current levels.

Reform is the party of choice for the bottom feeders among us. They have a severe image problem, which will be very difficult to shake - too difficult IMO for them to ever go mainstream.

The problem is that ultimately there are many more poorer people in the country than well off.
And neither of the big parties represent them

Have you ever been to Clacton?

Knitgoodwoman · 05/07/2024 06:50

With reform it’s not about the seats really but the sheer amount of people who voted for them. They’ll end up with a decent share % wise of the population having voted for them. If Labour don’t make some differences, and quickly, it’ll be an interesting next election.

LiterallyOnFire · 05/07/2024 06:50

Wanting stricter immigration control does not mean you are a racist.

So it's single issue for you? Reform because immigration?

AmusedMaker · 05/07/2024 06:51

Reform coming second & third in so many places. They’ve done a lot better than I thought they’d do.

Figgygal · 05/07/2024 06:51

Do those people really know what they voted for? Privatisation of the NHS worth it for turning back the boats?

The sad thing Is the constituencies that now have Reform MPs and who could really benefit from strong representation and change locally will unlikely get it. You get what you vote for.

Reallyneedsaholiday · 05/07/2024 06:51

I think this election will show both the pros and cons of our “first past the post” system. reform polling more votes than the Lib Dem’s, sitting on 4 seats, while LDs have 66. Nigel Farage in the House will never stop shouting about this.
Also those claiming a huge Labour victory need to realise that while it is undoubtedly a landslide seat wise, they’ve also polled so far with less than a 2% increase in actual votes across the country.

LiterallyOnFire · 05/07/2024 06:52

Please God this will have to be properly addressed now. It should have happened 8 or 9 years ago.

There are definitely more than 17,000 illegal immigrants
68,000 came over the channel in small boats in 2022 and 2023 and that is what they know of

Sloejelly · 05/07/2024 06:54

Labour’s share of the vote has only increased by 1.6%, The Conservatives are down by 19.9% and the majority of that went to Reform (12.2%).

I notice the Conservatives would have won Brecon comfortably if Reform voters had voted for them, and Montgomeryshire. And Bury St Edmunds. And that is just the first three constituencies I checked.

And most of them were perfectly legitimate asylum seekers fleeing persecution.
Nothing illegal about claiming asylum in a safe country.

They’re getting 14% of the overall share, more than Liberal Democrats. It’s easy for people to right them off as crazy, and everyone who voted for them as idiots. And ‘it’ll never happen’, but look what happened with Brexit. Labour need to address some of the working class issues, that make people vote reform.

Geneva12 · 05/07/2024 06:56

@HolyGround13 the first time that the word ghetto was used was in 1516. It was used to describe the area in Venice, Italy where the Jews were required by law to live. Ghetto comes from the Italian word for ‘casting’ as the area the Jews was required to live in was by the city’s copper foundry.

Demonstrating how excellent the Labour campaign under Pat McFadden was.
Maximising the potential.

I think it is worth remembering that the voting patterns would be very different if we had a different voting system.

Additionally I hope that anyone complaining about FPTP and vote share not equally seats, remembers how they voted when we had a referendum on the subject and that referendums are a clear indication of the will of the people and can never be changed.

Floppybeachhat · 05/07/2024 06:57

All this alarmist language around people voting for a party because the other two options have royalty fucked up the country 🙄

Chersfrozenface · 05/07/2024 06:59

Look at the European Parliament elections. Look at France, Germany, Belgium, the Netherlands, Italy.

The UK is slightly behind the curve, that's all.

That's a warning, by the way, nothing else.
