Surprised at the lack of door knocking by candidates

Not one single politician has knocked on our door. I am a little irritated by this. We have a Labour MP and a Labour run council. I think they are taking our constituency for granted. Anyone else surprised by the lack of canvassing? Or maybe they only actually knock on doors when they are being filmed for TV! Maybe they are all scared of our reactions!

My constituency is a much less safe Tory seat than it used to be, and it looks likely the Conservative candidate will win with a tiny majority, as Labour are catching up all the time.
The only people to knock my door have been the Lib Dems. There's somebody in the house 24/7, and I've seen local members of other parties dropping off leaflets.

Nat6999 · 23/06/2024 18:51

Most won't knock on my door, I have a massive Labour sticker on my door.

AmelieTaylor · 23/06/2024 18:51

I'm happy not to have had any.

I'm watching & listening to what's going on, but I don't need then on my doorstep!

C, L, LD, G & reform flyers, posted through the door.

Moonshine5 · 23/06/2024 18:52

No one on Mumsnet answers unsolicited callers lol so it's probably a good thing.

50shadedofmagnolia · 23/06/2024 18:54

Labour have knocked on ours lots and even sat in the garden and had a brew and a batter about the things that are important for our family.
We haven't had any other parties knocking in years 🤷‍♀️

minsmum · 23/06/2024 18:55

No flyers of any kind of canvassers round here

NoDishiForRishi · 23/06/2024 19:02

We've had labour leaflets pushed through, no other political parties as yet. I honestly can't remember the last time a candidate knocked on my door so I'm not that surprised that no one has this time. I can see that the prospective labour candidate has been very busy knocking on doors in all areas of our constituency from her facebook page, just not down our street. There's still time though so you never know!

Haven't seen sight of the local Tory. He's being very subtle in his campaigning and sticking to the more affluent areas.

Maybe they are all queuing up at Betfred shops for their winnings?
Or
Planning their holidays, spending their 'winding-up' payment?

bakewellbride · 23/06/2024 19:09

We had one labour and one Tory. I definitely told the Tory one where to go.

NorthFacing · 23/06/2024 19:09

💯

NorthFacing · 23/06/2024 19:10

Are they not bothered?

Hyperions · 23/06/2024 19:10

I'm in what wax a safe Tory seat, I've had door knocked by Tories and leaflets from labour. Reform greens and Lib Dem's

Grmumpy · 23/06/2024 19:10

I’m in a safe Lib Dem seat..no people knocking at all and only leaflets are from Lib Dem..not a peep out of Tory labour green or others

NoWordForFluffy · 23/06/2024 19:12

We've had nobody since before the council elections. I imagine I've been written off as a bigot, however, so won't see Labour again. As for the others? No idea!

shellyleppard · 23/06/2024 19:14

Labour were the only ones to kno knock and actually talk to us. Tories put a leaflet through the door at 9am this morning but didn't stop to talk. Hmmm I wonder why 🤔 🤔

threestars · 23/06/2024 19:16

Live in a traditionally safe Tory area. MP finally stepped back after years of doing bugger all but been replaced by v young candidate who doesn’t even live in the same COUNTY, let alone constituency. But they’ve been the I my visitor. No visits or leaflets from anyone else.

HowardTJMoon · 23/06/2024 19:17

I was just talking about this with DS earlier. We're in a seat that was previously considered a Tory safe seat but this time round it's looking like it'll be really, really close between them and Labour. We've had a few leaflets but that's it. There's someone at home pretty much all the time but we've not had a single knock at the door. It's really weird.

GreenMarigold · 23/06/2024 19:17

I’ve never had a canvassing knock on the door. I’ve had 2 leaflets so far, Reform and Conservative.

scalt · 23/06/2024 19:19

I want the Labour candidate to knock on my door, so I can grill him about his party failing to speak up for children harmed by the extremely damaging lockdowns, which his party was demanding MORE of, not less.

Here4thechocs · 23/06/2024 19:31

I’ve had the Labour Party actually knock on my door & spoke to me. The conservatives left leaflets and so did the LibDems ( I wish they knocked tho ). Nothing from the reform Ltd company, thankfully.

doneandone · 23/06/2024 19:34

We had Nigel Mills knock on the door the other day. Dh answered the door and said he looked disheveled and downtrodden. He asked dh if he had any questions for him, dh just said nope and shut the door on him.

HowardTJMoon · 23/06/2024 19:38

I really want the Conservative candidate to call. As the Tories are clearly keen on using inside knowledge to place bets I want to get a tip for how many weeks Sunak's going to stay a UK resident after he loses.

Againname · 23/06/2024 19:39

Nobody's knocked here and no leaflets either except one from the Conservative candidate. Nothing from Labour, Lib Dems, or Reform or Greens.

Feels like my constituency isn't seen as worth bothering with. Bit weird through as it's a usually safe Conservative seat that's predicted but not guaranteed to go to Labour.

I thought with an uncertain result they'd bother a bit more here but guess not.

VJBR · 23/06/2024 19:40

Only conservative have knocked on the door for a chat which is interesting as it’s a generally safe Tory seat. Was hoping to see what the labour candidate had to say. She looks about 12 so hard to feel any confidence.

Chickenuggetsticks · 23/06/2024 19:43

I wouldn’t want to knock on any doors, if one turned up on my doorstep I’d have some rather pointed questions, that goes for all parties.
