If you were 'politically homeless' have you now found a home?

I saw an interesting thread on Twitter that said Reform UK is now providing an option for those who previously felt they had nowhere to go.

Does this apply to you? Or have you decided to just 'hold your nose' and vote for someone you'd really rather not (best of a bad bunch)?

I'm voting tactically for whoever can win in our constituency who isn't our Tory MP.

I don't like tactical voting, but I do that that meme @verdantverdure

I’m glad. :)

I live in a Tory safe seat.

I can vote for the Tory MP’s biggest opposition or I can help him win by voting for literally anyone else.

It concentrates the mind somewhat when it is that simple.

I would vote reform but no candidate is standing in my area, so green it is!

Did you know that Farage supports the views of Andrew Tate. Blokes should be proud to be blokey. Tate believes women should be the property of men and kept at home without possessions. He’s in trial for rape amongst other things. Would you really vote for a company (Reform are a company rather than a political party) that stands alongside such a man?

That’s brilliant.

Anyone but Labour.

Reform is just another UKIP. No thanks.

I am usually a Labour voter but the school VAT thing negatively effects me (I can't see how it will raise enough to change anything before I get jumped on with "think of the children") and I feel concerned that Starmer is going to increase grammar schools, which is largely why we have to use private in the first place. It works for him and his London lifestyle but not for a lot of people in grammar areas with SEN for example - he's penalising my child for dyslexia frankly. I can't understand his morals on this and it has made me look at Labour in more detail - to find there's not much forthcoming about costing or what will change for the better/proper plans. It's an unpopular opinion on here as everyone loves Labour but then aren't being negatively affected by their policies, so it's obvious for them who to vote for.

In my area the Libs always do well and I've seen first hand work on the pollution and pot holes, so I am going there this time.

Can I ask why you vote for just your own personal circumstances rather than the bigger issues that affect us all? Like climate change and crumbling public services?

Also can't stand our Tory candidate here who has done nothing for our town in previous years having held the seat for around 12 years. Who bloody knows, best make my mind up eh?

If you’ve had a full hysterectomy and don’t have a cervix you are still a woman.

I get the safe single sex spaces is an issue and Labour have said they will protect these. Trans women in women’s category sports is also an issue. But there are many other issues facing the UK and humanity;

Climate change
WWIII starting
public services crumbling
poverty and inequality
water pollution
air pollution
economy
crime
housing

I could go on.

Lib dems cover those areas as well.
Can I ask why you think out of the entire thread I am the only person voting for something they personally like more than the other offerings?

I saw your post and was curious. So I asked.

kinkytoes · 22/06/2024 17:01

@Noddedoffagain trouble is, other parties are also looking at those areas AND they are honest about what a woman really is.

If someone can't be honest about that, I don't trust them on anything else.

I haven't found my forever home, no. More like a shorthold tenancy for maximum 4 years until the next election, then I may renew allegiance or not, depending on what they've done in that time.

TizerorFizz · 23/06/2024 09:46

@kinkytoes Ive just listened to Tobias Elwood on Radio 5. He described the hire and fire of modern politics which means politicians don’t get to stay in roles for more than 5 minutes. The second you disagree with the pm (in his case Johnson) you are out. He said it produces followers and not people who will speak up. If they do, they are out. I totally agreed with what he said. He believes all parties have talent but it’s under utilized due to “politics”. That sums up how I feel too. Critical thinking within political parties is unwelcome. Following and not saying what you believe is valued.

Obviously some people should go (Braverman) but minor disagreements should be worked through because the talent is sidelined otherwise.

Snugglemonkey · 23/06/2024 09:56

Still politically homeless. Fir the first time ever, I might not vote, or spoil my vote. There is no tolerable choice for me here. It is terrible.

Roundeartheratchriatmas · 23/06/2024 13:05

I am in a real quandary.

Labour safe seat. Local labour MP is generally a decent person.

However I cannot bring myself to vote labour due to their women’s right stance.

I won’t never vote Tory or reform and the Greens are a no no.

We have no one else standing. I may have to spoil my ballot.

verdantverdure · 23/06/2024 13:33

I have a tactical vote.

That’s all I need for now.

I’m planning to do the Vote For Policies comparison and see who I am most aligned with if I have the time and rain space today.
