Should Theresa May resign?

Police numbers have been drastically cut at a time when we really need a visible police presence on the streets as well as a huge input in behind the scenes to help detect and prevent terrorist activity.

Theresa May has been directly involved in reducing police numbers. Do you think she should resign?

I suppose she effectively did resign by calling a GE. But I suppose you mean should she step down completely? She's certainly had a disastrous campaign that's for sure, and although I'm still pretty certain the Tories will win, I'd say the clock is ticking for Theresa. I'm sure lots of 'private meetings' are taking place among the more influential Tory party members with plans to oust her. But then they'd have a second unelected PM.

Is it a police thing; or is it more that the security services (MI5? MI6? GCHQ? whoever it is can monitor potential extremists) need more resources?

Also I would imagine it is nigh on impossible to catch the needle-in-haystack indicators that such an attack is being planned.

Bearing in mind the incident was over in 8 minutes I don't see the argument for calling for her resignation.

Perhaps she should resign, I don't know the ins and outs of what happened to police numbers and when/why. But only a fool would do the resignation 3 days before a general election.

I think the police response was pretty rapid, not sure she can be held accountable for terrorism and attacks aren't anything to do with a lack of police presence.

Tricky one isn't it, because then the terrorists can celebrate having had a big impact on the democratic process, almost like, take that, Putin! We can do it too!

Not sure why blocks weren't put up on the bridges, what's the point of Cobra if not to sort that? But we have Ms Dick in charge, I mean, not a fantastic track record is it? Perhaps I'm being unfair. The only one who gets shot before committing a terrorist act turns out not to be a terrorist at all.

Did I see Ms May appearing at the lecturn under the strong and stable quote today at her press conference? It's getting past a joke.

I think unless you actually work for the police you don't realise how much goodwill we rely on from them

Holidays cancelled, officers recalled from abroad, thousands of hours of unpaid overtime, 24 shifts, shift changes without notice. I'm sure I've barely mentioned half of them.

It's a DISGRACE that they've cut the force. We need more officers and it's DIRECTLY THERESA MAYS FAULT.

Considering the 7/7 attacks killed far more people and had a far wider impact at a b time when police numbers were at an all time high I can't see what your point it.

The police reacted and neutralised the threat in 8 minutes. Their efficiency at dealing with these incidents is impeccable.

I'm no May fan (will be voting Labour) and I think the decimation of our public services is a disgrace... I even see merit in the argument that if we had been resourced police and security services the attacks may never have even happened - many attacks have been thwarted - but I don't see how our Prime Minister resigning days before a general election helps at all.

If you think she should go exercise your democratic right on Thursday and vote for another party.

the police force like the NHS is over-burdened with 'bosses' and no matter how many bobbies on the beat are available it would not enable them to prevent terrorist atrocities because they cannot physically be everywhere.
Of course she should not resign - this is corbie showing his 'nasty' side which has been there all along.
Do you really think labour's 10,000 extra police (however much they cost) would have cut the response time to less than 8 minutes.
