Anyone planning on watching?

A few hours ago I had firmly made up my mind. I watched the debate out of curiosity.

Now my decision has completely changed.

IvorHughJarrs · 30/05/2017 00:32

I think tonight has made me realise I like Corbyn and his plans a lot better than May and hers but I have far more concerns about him and his plans too so I am no further forward

Killdora · 30/05/2017 00:38

IvorHughJarrs I too have some concerns with some of Corbyns policies.

But a number of things became clear to me tonight.

The feeling in that midwifes voice when she clearly didn't believe that May was helping the NHS in anyway. I bought the line about increased spending, I've had no cause to use the NHS recently.

I couldn't deny what that midwife was clearly saying though. Same with the teacher.

But the most important thing, to me, that became apparent was that Corbyn rules by consensus. If the majority of people disagree with him, he listens. Hence the manifesto not being about all of the stuff he personally believes in.

That really resonated with me. And means that I can switch my vote without reservation.

After seeing him tonight (not an edited version of him I'd been seeing) I truly believe he can lead well.

I thought under a much harsher grilling Corbyn was very strong and composed unlike Theresa May who basically seems to think she can get away without actually giving us any details on costings of manifesto, cap level on "dementia" tax and even Brexit.

I was never voting Tory but was not too keen on Corbyn but over last few weeks i think he has shown to be more open, honest and a stronger leader and i honestly think he could handle tough Brexit talks better.

gluteustothemaximus · 30/05/2017 02:00

Thought Corbyn was excellent.

My 14 year old watched it with me, trying to understand more about politics and the election. He simply said, 'I like him. He's a good man'

I think he's right.

I'm enjoying the campaign. If Labour don't win, at least right now I feel hope. Hope that things can change.

gluteustothemaximus · 30/05/2017 02:02

I think he'd be an excellent negotiator for brexit.

I don't know why media have painted him out to be this bumbling idiot who couldn't find his way out of a paper bag. He is very clearly, the opposite.

gunting · 30/05/2017 07:32

It's ridiculous how May is making so much of her negotiating Brexit when it won't be her doing it.

The choice is between David Davis (idiot who thinks the eu are conspiring against him) or Keir Starmer OQ (frankly much more experienced and professional man).

Unfortunately I don't believe that we can afford Brexit and well funded public services so I can't vote for either.

Corbyn has grown on me somewhat.

Theresa May was very lacklustre. Everything apparently up for consultation or green papers, especially dementia tax cap. It basically translates as her not knowing the answers and having given the issues little or no thought at all.

honeysucklejasmine · 30/05/2017 08:25

That's my thought too gunting. Much prefer KS to DD!

gunting · 30/05/2017 08:28

@honeysucklejasmine I think Labour need to make more of Kier Starmer in this election.

Well well well. That webchat went down faster than a lead balloon didn't it? Talk about snatching defeat from the jaws of victory.

Oh dear Corbyn. FAIL.
