"Of course, as you do too."

No I don't!

SouthallGirl · 16/12/2016 14:23

Squishy - You hv called other posters racist and xenophobic. And those who consistently do that are actually the racists because they are ultra-aware of ethnicity all the time.

squishysquirmy · 16/12/2016 14:24

No I haven't!
Examples please.

SouthallGirl · 16/12/2016 14:25

I would probably label them as a gossipy shit stirrer.
Is that allowed?

Yes, that is allowed because it is not a politically-edged label.

Kaija · 16/12/2016 14:27

I don't really see why "homophobe" is unacceptable if "gossipy shit stirrer" is fine and dandy.

Kaija · 16/12/2016 14:29

You might have to do us a pair of lists, southall. Does "liberal elite" belong with "homophobe" or "gossipy shit stirrer"?

Lweji · 16/12/2016 14:31

The first is applied to those who support Blair's political path

It's actually applied indiscriminately by claig. The other is actually Libtards (my bad) and it's on the previous thread, on a cartoon posted by Chris.

SouthallGirl · 16/12/2016 14:34

Kaija - Gossipy shit stirrer is a mere description. The phobe suffix is used by the illiberal left to identify themselves to each other, and also to forever malign the 'target' as not being one of them, because he is against what we believe, he is wrong and should be avoided. It's passing on a judgement to others who have never met that person, but they hv . now been manipulated into thinking the worst of him.

In fact, he may be closer to their world view than they could possibly imagine.

squishysquirmy · 16/12/2016 14:34

No examples of me calling people racist or xenophobic then?
Of course not because it never bloody happened.
Below are some examples of labels and insults being used on this thread:

"snidey goon squad"
"humourless Communists"
"What a snidey, unpleasant person you are, Squishy"
There's plenty more from you.
Worst of all you also completely innacurately accused me of victim blaming on a previous thread.

Lweji · 16/12/2016 14:34

Yes, that is allowed because it is not a politically-edged label.

What happened to free speech?
What happened to politically incorrect?
Are you saying that politically-edged labels are not correct, politically? Surely it's fine in a politically incorrect world to use whatever labels we want.

Kaija · 16/12/2016 14:35

Is "illiberal left" an OK label?

Inkanta · 16/12/2016 14:36

'I am asking a very simple question. It's not about what anyone believes. It's about why YOU want to label a person with the suffix 'phobe'.'

Yes South. I have never had the inclination to call or insinuate anyone is a racist or Islamaphobe and I have never come across racist or islamophobic posting on MN, but I have seen a lot name calling.

Today though I reported a horrible thread that was hateful (in the extreme) to a white celebrity. There was real hate in those posts and thankfully it was deleted. Funny how no-one called these haters up on it.

What does that say to me? First of all it says that this Islamophobe and racist name calling, particularly on MN, is a big game, and hopefully folk will stop falling for it, when there is real hate going on no one gives a shit.

squishysquirmy · 16/12/2016 14:36

"Yes, that is allowed because it is not a politically-edged label."

Ahh, I see. Politically neutral terms are allowed, ones which have a "political edge" to them are not.
This is beginning to sound a lot like the political correctness you accuse us of.....

squishysquirmy · 16/12/2016 14:37

And saying that everyone brought up in the middle east hates Jews also has a "political edge" to it.

SouthallGirl · 16/12/2016 14:38

Only one of those from your list was said by me:
"What a snidey, unpleasant person you are, Squishy"

Inkanta · 16/12/2016 14:39

'The phobe suffix is used by the illiberal left to identify themselves to each other, and also to forever malign the 'target' as not being one of them, because he is against what we believe, he is wrong and should be avoided. It's passing on a judgement to others who have never met that person, but they hv . now been manipulated into thinking the worst of him.'

Yes exactly! In a word it's manipulative.

Kaija · 16/12/2016 14:39

Southall, have you considered the possibility that the word "homophobia" and its derivatives might actually be quite an important element in identifying and discussing the othering (and worse) that many many homosexual people have suffered and are still suffering. It might just not be all about you.

squishysquirmy · 16/12/2016 14:40

"There was real hate in those posts and thankfully it was deleted."

There you go then. The system works! (And as mumsnet is a moderated forum, they are allowed to set the rules they like).

Lweji · 16/12/2016 14:40

Funny how no-one called these haters up on it.

Inkanta, do you know how many people reported that thread?
Or how many, say from this thread, have even seen it?

So, you can't accuse other people of not calling whatever haters on it.

SouthallGirl · 16/12/2016 14:42

And saying that everyone brought up in the middle east hates Jews also has a "political edge" to it.

No, that is a statement of truth unfortunately, except for Jordan. And it is not a shorthand label. Little kids are inculcated into hating. My husband lived in the ME for 5 years. Check out the Koranic verses.

Kaija · 16/12/2016 14:42

I'm still itching to know the acceptable form of words to describe people who dislike/disapprove of homosexuality. Or are we just not allowed to talk about it?

squishysquirmy · 16/12/2016 14:44

"Only one of those from your list was said by me:"
Nope. I don't throw around accusations without being able to back them up. (still waiting for those examples of where I called anyone racist...)

squishysquirmy · 16/12/2016 14:45

So it's shorthand, political labels that you want to ban us from using?

Inkanta · 16/12/2016 14:47

'There you go then. The system works! (And as mumsnet is a moderated forum, they are allowed to set the rules they like).'

I reported it early this morning and within an within an hour it was gone. MNHQ got rid, but not one poster came on there (bar me) to call them on it. There were over 200 posts on there.

squishysquirmy · 16/12/2016 14:47

Kaija, we are not allowed to use shorthand words that describe prejudice based on sexuality, race, sex etc. To do otherwise is terribly oppressive to free speech. If we pretend that racism, sexism, homophobia etc don't exist, they will go away apparently.
