Oh bleeding 'eck! I have a stinking cold and watery eyes and that's my excuse ... brace yourself... going in again... Lweji

Phew

Lweji · 10/12/2016 18:51

Well done. :)

I'm not much better myself. Bloody viruses.

I blame Trump, of course.

squishysquirmy · 10/12/2016 19:04

Women who are much more careful than you were fall pregnant, South. I am sure many "feckless" women fall pregnant too. I have never said I am in favour of abortions at any stage for any reason. I have said I was concerned for woman's rights under Trump, you asked me to give some examples of why that was the case so I did.
Do you honestly think he stands up for women's rights?

squishysquirmy · 10/12/2016 19:06

fourmummy, how certain do you have to be that man made climate change is a hoax to not want to do anything about it?
Because "some pharmaceutical companies lied once" and "Jeremy Corbyn's brother says so" isn't enough evidence for me.

squishysquirmy · 10/12/2016 19:11

And if you don't care about how restricting abortions will affect women (you really should), what about the affects on men? Does that spark your compassion? What do you think happens when abortions are restricted to rape victims? It is currently very, very rare for women to lie about rape (whatever certain right wing media outlets will have you believe), but I would understand why some desperate women would if it was the only way to access an abortion.

SouthallGirl · 11/12/2016 09:07

Squishy - You and the others are very keen to put words in my mouth. It's a tactic I'm familiar with in bullying.

In fact it was Rousette who said:
"Suck it up and not be so feckless next time I think is the answer" - and since then you have deliberately attached that word to me.

I do not see why I have to agree with anyone on anything on this thread, but you gals cannot bear it that someone is outside of the groupthink in anything. It must make living very difficult.

BertrandRussell · 11/12/2016 09:19

Southallgirl, you are consistently refusing to address my point-

"In an ideal world, there would be no unplanned pregnancies. You are right.

But in our far from ideal world, there are.

What should women who have unplanned pregnancies do?"

Could you explain why, please?

Lweji · 11/12/2016 09:20

Put words into other people's mouths, you say?
Some of you sound like you support unrestricted abortion at any stage of the pregnancy for non-medical reasons, no rape, no incest.

SouthallGirl · 11/12/2016 09:56

Yes, that's how you as a group come across. I had a particular word attached to me, so that until the end of this thread it would look as if I had used it.

BertrandRussell · 11/12/2016 10:00

Sorry, southallgirl- was it you said "Some of you sound like you support unrestricted abortion at any stage of the pregnancy for non-medical reasons, no rape, no incest"?

SouthallGirl · 11/12/2016 10:01

Bertrand - Why don't you give us your opinion on your own question "What should women who have unplanned pregnancies do?" in USA, giving us your 'plan' of action. As far as I know, they currently terminate within 3 months if they dont want to be pregnant.

SouthallGirl · 11/12/2016 10:04

Yes, that's how you come across - no nuance, no opinion about cut-off time (if any).

Inkanta · 11/12/2016 10:13

Yes, I think the relentless questioners on here need to start answering their own questions. It's like fanatical questioners unite! Grin

DeepanKrispanEven · 11/12/2016 10:22

Southall, there's no "group". We're random people on the internet who are having an internet discussion and don't happen to agree with you. We certainly don't agree with each other on everything - I know I've had discussions elsewhere (under another name) involving some of the people on this thread and certainly haven't agreed with them.

The idea that everyone should answer their own questions before asking them is definitely novel, and I think it's perfectly clear what Bertrand's answer to her own question would be.

Lweji · 11/12/2016 10:25

Now, getting back on point. This is not a discussion about what abortion laws should be like.
It is about how women will be worse off under Trump.
Some have said they won't. Others gave the example of abortion laws, that are already quite strict in some states and seem likely to be extended to other states, possibly the entire country. There are indications that the limit could be lowered to almost impossible 6 weeks.
So, is that not an example of women losing under a Trump administration? And if not, why?
That is the question that Trump fans have failed to answer.

The same for Obamacare. If it's suddenly repealed, won't it's leave again mothers in low incomes with no protection?
And, given the income differences between men and women, won't it be a problem mostly for women?

Also, having a President that verbally and physically abuses women, won't that reinforce the culture that women are acceptable targets, simply for being women?

On the other hand, perhaps you'd like to give us some examples of how women will benefit from a Trump presidency.
And btw, Ivanka's maternity plan doesn't count, as it was pushed by her and Hillary's plan was better - so women lost out on that one too.

Inkanta · 11/12/2016 10:33

'Now, getting back on point. This is not a discussion about what abortion laws should be like.

Lweji - you ask tooo many questions. It's like a pursuit of questions. Read how many question marks in your last post! You do this morning, noon and night and even in the middle of the night.

It's oppressive. How about having a conversation.

Lweji · 11/12/2016 10:38

If you ever replied to even one at a time, then there would be less to answer. :)

You've chosen to complain rather than answer any of them.
I'd be happy with one.

Lweji · 11/12/2016 10:40

5 question marks.
3 main issues.
One key question: aren't women worse off under Trump?

Inkanta · 11/12/2016 10:46

'You've chosen to complain rather than answer any of them.
I'd be happy with one.'

Correct. Would you now.

Xmas Smile
Lweji · 11/12/2016 10:51

Well, would anyone care to show that women won't be worse off under Trump?
Any takers?

SouthallGirl · 11/12/2016 11:18

The idea that everyone should answer their own questions before asking them is definitely novel, and I think it's perfectly clear what Bertrand's answer to her own question would be

What an odd thing to say. If you post a question, then usually the person already has an opinion, unless they are undecided. Bertrand's question was:

What should women who have unplanned pregnancies do?
And I replied - to terminate within 3 months.

Lweji · 11/12/2016 11:29

So, 13,5 weeks, not 12.
Still, why not one week but the previous yes?

I see no takers yet on how women are not worse off under Trump.

Inkanta · 11/12/2016 11:47

'I see no takers yet on how women are not worse off under Trump.'

Folk are probably busy! I've just hoovered 4 rooms. Getting ready for Christmas. Might have a food shop later. What are you doing??

DeepanKrispanEven · 11/12/2016 11:53

OK, Southall. So what should women who have unplanned pregnancies but, for good reason, cannot terminate within three months do? And, just for clarity, I'm not suggesting that means abortion should be available on demand at any stage of the pregnancy - I support the current legal position in the UK in that regard.

Lweji · 11/12/2016 11:54

Clearly not too busy to explain why you haven't replied, though.
