The last one filled up quickly.

More discussion on the significance of Trump, Trumpism and the Trumpsters and what it all means for Blairites.

There is no evidence for Trump's illegal voter claim.

Kaija · 04/12/2016 19:05

It was a straight up lie.

claig · 04/12/2016 19:09

I agree EngTech, it is about the status quo v change, Clinton vs Trump or the EU vs the populists.

In the end, I think the EU will lose and the anti-establishment populists will win. I think the EU will be finished in under 2 years.

I accept what Trump says.

You have said yourself that he lies for his own benefit.
Why wouldn't scrutinise his statements?

claig · 04/12/2016 19:18

'You have said yourself that he lies for his own benefit.'

I think I can spot when he is lying (which is quite rare) and when he is telling it like it is.

Lweji · 04/12/2016 19:19

Ok, how can you tell?

Inkanta · 04/12/2016 19:21

Claig

I see we are coming to the end of this thread.

Wonder if you will start another!

Thank you anyway - don't know how you manage to stay so good natured and patient .. and kind. Smile

EngTech · 04/12/2016 19:25

Well they are doing what we are doing I.e. People did not select the right candidate so will challenge and try and get result overturned.

Hmm, remind me what democracy is again please ?

Missswatch · 04/12/2016 19:25

Inkanta the moment Claig gets hostile will be when other posters try to use censorship to silence her arguments

Kaija · 04/12/2016 19:28

How would any poster even use censorship on here? Confused

Missswatch · 04/12/2016 19:28

Trump on Twitter

The Green Party just dropped its recount suit in Pennsylvania and is losing votes in Wisconsin recount. Just a Stein scam to raise money!

Brb. Im just gonna bottle some Liberal tears

Inkanta · 04/12/2016 19:29

Misswatch - Craig is a great role model for keeping her cool. I imagine many will read her threads.

UncontrolledImmigrant · 04/12/2016 19:33

there is a kind of an instinct to engage in dialogue with a certain kind of folk, as though good faith discussion were possible.

It isn't. Note how quickly the goalposts change: everything X says is truth, and only X tells the truth/well of course, X wasn't being literal here/sometimes X lies but I can tell when, and it is for excellent reasons/X is the only truthful leader

ad nauseam.

there is also a belief that, these discussions may be of benefit to lurkers. I doubt this; they serve instead to legitimise abhorrent political views, as though they are just another opinion, i.e., what is Britain's favourite pudding, or who wore it best. There is no 'agree to disagree' with racists and fascists.

I doubt that discourse serves any such good.

Kaija · 04/12/2016 19:34

You may be right, uncontrolled.

claig · 04/12/2016 19:35

Thank you everyone, i will start a new thread because the Trump Revolution will spread to Europe and end the EU eventually. Tonight in Italy may just be the beginning.

OP posts:
EngTech · 04/12/2016 19:41

Uncontrolled, got the argument in one, nice one👍

Kaija · 04/12/2016 19:47

But on the other hand, uncontrolled, when the far right start plastering their posters all over your neighbourhood, you don't just accept it and walk on by. A good deal of the content of these threads is more akin to propaganda than discussion, and I don't think that should be left unchallenged.

Lweji · 04/12/2016 19:48

Inkanta the moment Claig gets hostile will be when other posters try to use censorship to silence her arguments

Has that happened at all?

Lweji · 04/12/2016 19:49

Exactly Kaija.

Lweji · 04/12/2016 19:50

I'll be looking forward for that list in the new thread.

claig · 04/12/2016 19:51

On Channel 4 News just now. Reporters saying that "EU breathing a sigh of relief" over Austrian result. Former Austrian EU Commissioner says he is "surprised" by the result.

Channel 4 News interviewing a politician of the Freedom Party asks the usual leading question "is this the end of the far right?" and the Freedom Party politician says "I don't agree with your categorisation of far right". Usual media game.

*and the Freedom Party politician says "I don't agree with your categorisation of far right". Usual media game.
You got that right. Far right.

UncontrolledImmigrant · 04/12/2016 19:55

Oh, I don't intend them to be unchallenged. I just don't think polite and reasoned discourse is the means to challenge with.

The veterans of Cable Street did not debate moseley's blackshirts, but they definitely challenged them

Kaija · 04/12/2016 19:57

At least Nigel Farage finally did something useful.

Trump (Part 3)
Kaija · 04/12/2016 19:58

So what's the online equivalent, uncontrolled?
