The last one filled up quickly.

More discussion on the significance of Trump, Trumpism and the Trumpsters and what it all means for Blairites.

"A lot of us in the UK were well prepared in the Brexit Referendum and took pens with us to the polling booths."

Oo, I know - saw a few on FB saying they were taking pens. It was the same people who said "But we already know what the result will be Angry " Confusing, or what!

Lweji · 04/12/2016 18:14

He sounds worried that Trump may send Nigel in to shake things up a bit

I'm sure he's shaking...

with laughter.

claig · 04/12/2016 18:14

'Im curious as to why Trump would give a stuff about Austria? '

I don't know for sure, but my guess is that Trump is going to end the EU

"I'm sure he's shaking...
with laughter."

I didn't see any laughter when an aide whispered in his ear that Farage had suggested he was going to call for Austria to hold an EU Referendum, all I saw was Hofer reaching for his tablets and knocking back the whole packet with shaking hands.

OP posts:
Inkanta · 04/12/2016 18:17

I don't know much about Hofer - he is reported to be 'far right'. Is he 'far right'? The Green guy - Van Der Bellen is reported to be 'left leaning'.

When do centre or centre right policies become far right. If Hofer really is far right I'm thinking then it's a good thing he didn't get in.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 04/12/2016 18:17

well, that would be rather interfering of him wouldn't it!

Lweji · 04/12/2016 18:18

The Austrian vote went that way because of the naturalised immigrants who have voting rights, and they voted against Hofer.

You seem to know a lot about voter composition for Austria. Care to support that statement?

SouthallGirl · 04/12/2016 18:19

Good question. A lot of us in the UK were well prepared in the Brexit Referendum and took pens with us to the polling booths. We were taking no chances

Really? Was that allowed, I did think about it. Erasing an X in pencil would still leave a tell-tale mark surely?

Lweji · 04/12/2016 18:19

all I saw was Hofer reaching for his tablets and knocking back the whole packet with shaking hands.

Oh, you're in his inner circle. Can you explain what he's so afraid Nigel would do?

Lweji · 04/12/2016 18:21

If Hofer really is far right I'm thinking then it's a good thing he didn't get in

Thank God for that.

Both centre candidates got out on the first round.
And both candidates that got through are at the extreme ends. The green parties tend to be firmly on the left, not much centre.

claig · 04/12/2016 18:22

' If Hofer really is far right I'm thinking then it's a good thing he didn't get in.'

I don't know. That is what the media say but as Trump informed everyone, they are " a room full of liars". I googled Hofer yesterday and there was an article in the Telegraph, I think, where one of his party was saying "I don't know where all this far right Nazi stuff i coming from, he isn't like that'

He is anti immigration and Eurosceptic but not enough to hold a referendum about it, so he sounds less rightwing than Farage, and Hofer wants to "build a stronger union" so that doesn't sound far right, it sounds like he is for the EU.

"No reaction from Trump on twitter yet. The world awaits Trump."

We're all on tenterhooks.

I hope an aid explains to him that it's the Austria in Europe, not the one on the Southern Pacific.

Missswatch · 04/12/2016 18:24

See Trump's victory rally in Ohio? Was incredible

squishysquirmy · 04/12/2016 18:24

"What defines him as Right wing or an independent in that case, if he wants to remain within the EU?"

The Freedom party were originally founded by nazis, they're pretty right wing! Being far right and wanting an integrated Europe are not mutually exclusive, South.

Lweji · 04/12/2016 18:25

Just to clarify, euroscepticism can be found both on the left and the right. Being eurosceptic doesn't mean someone is right wing.

claig · 04/12/2016 18:26

'Can you explain what he's so afraid Nigel would do?'

I don't know for sure but by the look on the faces of the entire EU political class after they were shown the picture of Farage with Trump in the gold elevator at Trump Tower, the entire EU political class is unable to sleep at night for fear of Trump setting Farage loose across Europe on an anti EU rampage in a Victor Hugo-like 1832 rebellion demanding EU Referenda in every village across the Continent.

SwedishEdith · 04/12/2016 18:27

On Twitter
#Austria's far-right Freedom party say @Nigel_Farage's intervention contributed to their defeat as "majority of Austrians support #EU" 😂😂😂

Lweji · 04/12/2016 18:28

See Trump's victory rally in Ohio?

I wonder what is the purpose of those rallies.
They sound like an ego massage and I'd like to know who's paying for them.
Why isn't he concentrating on choosing his team and not tripping up at international relations?

claig · 04/12/2016 18:29

'See Trump's victory rally in Ohio? Was incredible'

Absolutely Missswatch. It was incredible indeed. It was the same old Trump, the fire breathing dragon of old, he was roasting the elites, the Republicans who were against him and of course the media ("the room full of liars"). The "room full" had told us that Trump was letting us down, but from that speech it was clear that Trump was still coming after the lot of them.

OP posts:
Lweji · 04/12/2016 18:30

'Can you explain what he's so afraid Nigel would do?'

I don't know for sure

I'd be surprised if you did, but thanks for the attempted explanation. I need the distraction with my cold.

claig · 04/12/2016 18:31

'I wonder what is the purpose of those rallies.'

I think one purpose is to reassure the Trump fans and at the same time put the elites on notice that he still intends to come after the elites and that he has not let them off the hook.

"You should be writing fiction claig! "

Roussette, claig is writing fiction.

Well done Austria

Trump (Part 3)
claig · 04/12/2016 18:33

'Really? Was that allowed, I did think about it. Erasing an X in pencil would still leave a tell-tale mark surely?'

According to some reports, not with the special rubbers the elites have at their disposal, they are said to be "expert at covering their tracks".

OP posts:
claig · 04/12/2016 18:35

'well, that would be rather interfering of him wouldn't it!'

That may well be the case, OhYouBadKitten, but I hardly think there is a leader on earth brave enough or foolhardy enough to tell Trump to "bog off".

"It is wot it is"

OP posts:
squishysquirmy · 04/12/2016 18:37

If I was "the elite", and desperate to rig an election, I could think of much better ways than deploying a team of servants equipped with magic rubbers to rub out the crosses. Sounds like a right faff.
