Southallgirl: It's just that I find it very hard to believe that such a huge number of people (most politicians, journalists, academics, religious leaders etc) can co-operate that effectively with that level of secrecy. Even if "they are in thrall through ideology or greed". It's hard enough getting a group of more thanabout 6 people to decide where to eat dinner. Like I said - the maddest conspiracy theories always credit "the powers" with an amazing level of competence.
And if "what you see and what you are told is not necessarily true or even partially true" then why should I be so willing to believe everything Claig (a random person on the internet who's really good at copy and pasting) says? Why should I take that at face value without any scepticism?

squishysquirmy · 24/11/2016 22:31

Ah, that sounds super convenient Claig - however badly Trump fails, it will still be the "elites" fault! Win-win for Trump, even if we're all left off much worse.

squishysquirmy · 24/11/2016 22:32

By the way, numericalChris I promise, honestly, not to report you to GCHQ if that makes you feel a bit better. Smile

Kaija · 24/11/2016 22:33

So seriously, southall, if you were to dismantle academic and political institutions, abolish religion and smash corporations tomorrow, how do you think the world would look?

claig · 24/11/2016 22:33

'Win-win for Trump, even if we're all left off much worse.'

Absolutely. If Trump succeeds, he will be the one wot done it, if he fails, the elite will have stitched him up.

There are four years to go and Trump is ready for anything they throw at him.

"A substantial and not-at-all inciting remark." Ill give you that one Kaija Smile I was actually hoping for something to back up squishys throw away, rather than her/his usual dismissal of an entire posters validity tactic, by simply calling them uninformed ravings. Show me? Im always happy to be corrected if I am misinformed.

Southallgirl · 24/11/2016 22:40

It's not a conspiracy theory, it's using human psychology and inate needs. I see it this way. In general, the goals for globalism are created by Corporate.

Academic then provides white papers that justify Corporate's goals.

Political sells Academic’s arguments to the public and if necessary, changes laws to accommodate and facilitate Corporate in getting what it wants.

Religion secures corporate-academic-political rule into a global order, it's the final stamp of OK. And there’s control of Media too.

squishysquirmy · 24/11/2016 22:41

Kaija: For some reason, I find the paranoia against "academic institutions" the most sinister. Maybe that just betrays my own personal bias, but that sort of anti-intellectualism boils my piss. The world is a better place than it has ever been - still a long way from perfect - and a large part of that improvement is down to people across the globe (they would call them "elites", but they are actually just people) struggling away through the centuries, fighting against ignorance, superstition and small mindedness. Thats where real improvement comes from - not sham "people's revolutions" which give more power and money to the powerful and rich.

Kaija · 24/11/2016 22:43

So in the brave new world there will be no academia, no religion, no corporations and no political institutions?

squishysquirmy · 24/11/2016 22:43

Southallgirl: So "Corporate" is in charge of it all? Who are these "corporate" people?

Kaija · 24/11/2016 22:44

Squishy, yes to all of that.

GlassCircles · 24/11/2016 22:46

So in the brave new world there will be no academia, no religion, no corporations and no political institutions?

Don't be daft, of course there will. And they will all be owned and ruled by Trump, eh Claig?

Kaija · 24/11/2016 22:47

Southall, given Trump's behaviour towards the press so far, and his admiration for Putin who keeps the media in a vice-like grip, how do you feel the issue of "media control" will be improved under his presidency?

squishysquirmy · 24/11/2016 22:48

Glass: Shock now I'm going to have nightmares of giant golden Trump idols being worshiped across the globe as the new religion in this brave new world.

Chris1234567890 · 24/11/2016 22:49

"All I meant is that no matter how sinister the snoopers charter may be, I don't think GCHQ care what you write about Trump on mumsnet. I thought you might feel reassured that you're almost certainly not that important."

I guess I take that as a retraction of the "misinformed ravings"?

I have no delusion whatsoever about the weight of ramblings on internet forums, however, I certainly wouldnt underestimate how passionate those who feel theyve 'lost' something can be. Im more than happy to engage/debate with you squishy, its healthy, but as with Brexit, I wish those who are angry, direct their anger at those who didnt vote, not those who used their fundamental right to and did.

claig · 24/11/2016 22:49

'So in the brave new world there will be no academia, no religion, no corporations and no political institutions?'

That sounds awfully like communism that the elites like. Trump is the opposite - a capitalist with free market competition. Trump won't own them, but hopefully he will make sure they are not up to their usual tricks.

OP posts:
Kaija · 24/11/2016 22:51

Ah so the elites are all communists too?

Kaija · 24/11/2016 22:53

"Trump won't own them, but hopefully he will make sure they are not up to their usual tricks"

Won't own them... But will control them??

GlassCircles · 24/11/2016 22:53

Well, we've already had Trump Uni, Trump Politico, and Trump Corporate, so Trump Temples are the logical next step.

squishysquirmy · 24/11/2016 22:54

I don't retract it, no.
To rave:
to talk or write with extravagant enthusiasm
You do this about Trump.

And you are misinformed.
I don't think it was a particularly offensive comment.
Smile

Chris1234567890 · 24/11/2016 22:55

Squishy you may find this interesting re academia. Tropezienne posted it waaaaay back up the thread, but worth a second airing.

Kaija · 24/11/2016 22:56

Ah yes. $25 million. Fraud. I had almost forgotten. Never settles...

$25 million dollars to avoid fraud conviction.

Did someone say something about draining a swamp?

squishysquirmy · 24/11/2016 22:58

Chrisnumbers: I am not "directing my anger" at everyone who voted differently. I am disagreeing with the comments made on here. What would be the point of me "directing my anger at those who didn't vote" on this thread - that would just be a random invective against people who will probably never read it anyway. And kind of mean to just start spontaneously slagging off a group of people.

Chris1234567890 · 24/11/2016 22:59

"I don't retract it, no.

and again Ill say, show me? Claig will tell you, I dont like Trump.

squishysquirmy · 24/11/2016 23:01

Claig: Your link certainly makes revolutions sound fun Confused
quote: A first generation of daring rebels overthrows a fossilized establishment and leaves the landscape littered with ruins. In the post-revolutionary era, the rebels begin to fight among themselves, which may lead to persecutions and assassinations. The victorious survivor then rules like the tyrants who were toppled in the first place
