One of my (many) concerns about Trump's character is that his natural tendency is to keep wanting more, more, more in the way of what he sees as personal achievement and status. He won't be limited by his own judgement, he'll keep going like a dog with a bone and his stopping point is only when he either gets what he wants, or things go so badly wrong he's forced to pursue a new goal. When the tits up situations are confined to his own businesses that's one thing, when it comes to world politics it's quite another.

Kaija · 24/11/2016 17:36

Have a watch of this for a small but disturbing insight into Trump's character:

It's very funny - although not so much when you realise this person has the nuclear codes.

"Hmm. Seems like an awful lot of people are not buying the "people's" revolution, and are putting their money where their mouths are:"

Just such a shame Hillary Clinton ran for the hills when asked. The last thing she wants is the vote checking ..... Bring it on Grin

claig · 24/11/2016 18:48

'The last thing she wants is the vote checking'

Absolutely. Grin

"Chris, I am also concerned about the snoopers charter. But I'm not going to be dragged into a discussion about it on here because that would be a diversion. It's almost like you don't want to talk about Trump or his policies....."

I hate it when someone turns up late at a party......... Please read the thread.

Chris1234567890 · 24/11/2016 18:56

"I would respect Trump supporters more on this thread if they actually did condemn the scary fringe more. When I mentioned an act of far right terrorism, Chrisnumbers jumped straight in with a "what about Isis?" (btw, I do condemn Isis)."

I also hate, when peolpe put in quotes, something someone never said. I never said "what about isis?" You threw the flash bang in the room using the horrific murder of Jo Cox.

On the Trump thread? Really? What connection were you making?

Southallgirl · 24/11/2016 19:02

I see Trump as a hard-nosed, straight-talking businessman, who is a master of strategy and tactics. That is what America needs. He got my attention. I for one sat up and listened when he first declared his intention to run and thought what a marvellous opportunity this is for the West.

Enough of the shilly-shallying way of talking; the only way to solve a problem is to identify it and then find a solution - which is not always the ideal solution but a solution nevertheless. Gone is the forked tongue, mealy-mouthed method of speaking to the nation and to the press.

Chris1234567890 · 24/11/2016 19:09

"Mind you, Chrisnumbers thought that the snoopers charter will bring down mumsnet, so we have some resident "analysts" on here."

No I didnt say that either. Please read what I did say, but what really concerns me is that from January, anyone on here showing any support for Trump policies can and may be reported by hysterical posters believing the 'all Trump supporters are fascist nazi racists because he is' ......bullshit. Oh not to mention utterly twisting and mis quoting posters posts as they go.......

You squishy, are what concerns me about the new powers of the snoopers charter.

Kaija · 24/11/2016 19:20

Southall, that is a beautiful expression of the motivation for electing demagogues and dictators.

Unfortunately I can't think of an example where it ends well.

sarsleypage · 24/11/2016 19:22

Southall, have you actually read about Trump?

From wiki:

An analysis of Trump's business career by The Economist in 2016, concludes that his "... performance [from 1985 to 2016] has been mediocre compared with the stock market and property in New York," noting both his successes and bankruptcies

buckingfrolicks · 24/11/2016 19:25

"The other side is not stupid. One phone call will be enough. Just the mention of the two words "Donald Trump" is on the line will send the into a tizzy."

Er. 'the other side' being who? tens of millions of people who did not vote for Trump and whose lives should not be dictated to by him?

Chris1234567890 · 24/11/2016 19:26

"Gone is the forked tongue, mealy-mouthed method of speaking to the nation and to the press."

Absolutely agree with that. We should all, whatever allegiances we have, be totally grateful and supportive of Julian Assange. Public servants forgot a long time ago who they are answerable to, 2016 has indeed been an astonishing year when 2 nations reminded them.

claig · 24/11/2016 19:31

'Er. 'the other side' being who? tens of millions of people who did not vote for Trump and whose lives should not be dictated to by him?'

No, the other side is the billionaires in Saudi Arabia and Qatar who are backing and funding the Jihadis and Isis.

"Podesta leaks show Clinton email linking Saudi Arabia, Qatar to ISIS"

www.foxnews.com/politics/2016/10/11/podesta-leaks-show-clinton-email-linking-saudi-arabia-qatar-to-isis.html

Not sure if the BBC gave this information the same amount of coverage as they gave a tiny group of far right Americans sieg heiling after Trump's win.

"Julian Assange: Isis and Clinton Foundation are both funded by Saudi Arabia and Qatar

www.independent.co.uk/news/people/julian-assange-clinton-foundation-isis-same-money-saudi-arabia-qatar-funding-a7397211.html

Not sure if the Oxbridge teams investigated this as much as they reported on anyone they could find that accused Trump of racism.

Oh I dont know Claig. Im still enjoying Hillarys memo instructing the DMC to elevate Trumps candidacy as a "pied piper" candidate....... Its still a beautiful moment, discovering she put him there, with her own money......

Chris1234567890 · 24/11/2016 19:51

Typo...... DNC Apols

claig · 24/11/2016 19:53

Yes, Chris. There is so much in the Wikileaks that is significant. But don't expect the BBC to discuss it, they only like slamming Trump for his twitter account.

OP posts:
Kaija · 24/11/2016 19:55

Is that the same Saudi Arabia that Theresa May and Boris Johnson have been defending selling arms to?

claig · 24/11/2016 19:59

Channel 4 News in overdrive now.

Jon Snow, gatekeeper in chief says "in a post-truth world, how will we ever establish the truth?"

The answer the viewer is supposed to come up with is "listen to Jon"

and Jon then goes on to milk teh gatekeeper role by saying

"so perhaps freedom of speech is more important than the truth?"

the implication almost being that the viewer is supposed to think, "maybe freedom of speech is not as important as the truth according to how Jon sees it".

Theyre desperate. Trump has tipped over the entire applecart.

Of course theyre not going to cover it Claig. Why let the truth get in the way of a glorious campaign. It is indeed the death throes of the MSM.

claig · 24/11/2016 20:00

'Is that the same Saudi Arabia that Theresa May and Boris Johnson have been defending selling arms to?'

Absolutely. And there is the Yemen war which is rarely discussed on the BBC and Channel 4 News.

OP posts:
Kaija · 24/11/2016 20:00

Claig did you not see the part about the fake news creators in Macedonia? It was fascinating. Think I've seen some of their links on your posts.

Kaija · 24/11/2016 20:01

And yet you are such a fan of May and Johnson.
