Oct 20th 2 am UK time.

Last chance for the Establishment to stop the Trump surge in the polls.
World leaders will be watching, Establishments will be tuning in on the edge of their seats in trepidation.

People will be laughing, diving into the popcorn and knocking back the alcohol.

Round 3. Rock'n'roll.

I've been a higher rate taxpayer for decades

Have I been a sucker to subsidise poor people ?

I paid for the nhs, even though I have had comprehensive private health insurance for 30 years
I paid for schools although I chose to be childfree
I've paid for tax credits, disability allowances and all the other benefits I've never received in my life

No, I don't feel cheated.
The better off MUST subsidise the poor in a civilised country.

I haven't subsidised private healthcare for anyone though.
Obviously that's likely to raise premiums for the better off.
Subsidising via income tax would have spread the load less painfully

Trump's voters are typical rightwing conservatives: very angry that poor people can't just be left to die
It's their own fault they're poor, right ?

So, with that logic, it must be the fault of Trump's voters of they can't do well under globalisation.
Why should the "elite" subsidise Trump's voters ?
e.g. His core vote don't have college degrees, so clearly they haven't bothered to equip themselves to thrive in the modern knowledge-based skills economy.

But that speech anticipates future migration flows. It does not only reference the illegal migrants in the county ("My dream is a hemispheric common market, with open trade and open borders [...]).

Lweji · 17/10/2016 09:21

My dream is a hemispheric common market, with open trade and open borders

I don't see anything wrong with that dream. Ideally, it would mean countries would be prosperous enough for the trade to be reciprocal.
It's classified as a dream not as a policy for the next 4 years.

BigChocFrenzy · 17/10/2016 09:23

If the Republicans had just chosen a moderate, who said they would cut back immigration to what business needs, they'd have thrashed sleazy Clinton.

But they continued to the far reaches of wingnut mode
Because the GOP is now the Party of Hate
It didn't used to be.
I hope they get thrashed, to save the country. It might also save the Republican Party.

Lweji · 17/10/2016 09:28

What is sad is that the Democrats seem to be pushed further right too.
Since when it's a sin to want to legalise illegal immigrants or dream of open borders? It's only a sin when immigrants are demonised and the administration doesn't want to take responsibility for economic problems.
Having said that, employment got worse due to the crisis inherited by GOP administration lack of regulations, and has got better. Unlike what GOP claims.

I was about to post a response to some comments above, but then I realised the futility of trying to show Drumf supporters quite what an idiot he is. they are seemingly blinkered to anything but spouting what an establishment shill Hillary is.

Having said that..... have you seen his comments about SNL? Hilarious.

2015 - great show - look how easily I take a joke.
2016 - they are big blue meanies and I don't wanna play anymore....

Lweji · 17/10/2016 10:08

I'll just put a reminder here, though.

It IS a sin to sexually assault women.

Lweji · 17/10/2016 10:11

On SNL and Trump, did you see the comments to his comment? Grin

Which MNetter wrote: "U k hun?"

And something like: are you 12?

A good piece by Perazzo.

"A devastating exposé of the most unfit and undeserving individual ever to seek the American presidency."

I want to know Schwarzanegger's opinion of Trump.

Lweji · 17/10/2016 10:37

I want to know Schwarzanegger's opinion of Trump.
Why? Confused

fourmummy · 17/10/2016 10:37

I don't see anything wrong with that dream

It's a lovely dream but does not match reality. Humans, or indeed any other species, don't live like that and never have. It's an artificial way to structure society. It's not how we group ourselves. There wouldn't be such a variety of species on the planet if nothing was different. You can't eradicate difference. Difference isn't bad. It is what it is. It's a fact of life. We can still trade, do deals, exchange knowledge and help one another, just like we have always done, but there's no way to remove the variety of ways in which living organisms adapt to their various environments, which create differences between them. We could equalise everybody in an 'we are all identical' way but then we have small problem. Who makes the decisions about how we live? What Hillary is proposing (open borders) has never been observed and it won't work because in order to avoid anarchic decision making (Diamond, 2005), someone will have to take charge of it (big chief, village elder, Hillary stateswoman) - and that's when inequality sets in. We can be egalitarian toward one another across our differences, but we can't be identical. It's an impossible (and dangerous) dream. It's not nationalism that kills people. It's the decision makers. But we all know this already.

Southallgirl · 17/10/2016 10:39

some bureaucrats on £200,000 have decided that people who are obese or smoke won't be able to receive the minor operations

Smokers already contribute billions to the Exchequer in taxes and should be allowed minor operations. The problem though with major surgery is that healing and recovery is poor in smokers, and general anaesthesia dicey.

ZuleikaDobson · 17/10/2016 10:40

Planned Parenthood will probably have to split its abortion part off and the other services will be funded by the taxpayer and the abortion part won't.

So Trump expects there to be a class divide for poor people attending PP: yes, you can have some of our services, but should you need a termination for good medical or social reasons, sorry, you're on your own. Unless of course he plans for the Trump foundation to fund it.

Southallgirl · 17/10/2016 10:45

The Oxbridge graduates in New Labour copied their American counterparts. That is how it works. They are all the same and they all want the same and work for the same global elites and banks who want to destroy the sovereignty of independent nations in order to push through their globalisation

Yes, THEY are all in it together, we are not included and many do not realise that such a long con is possible.

"Arnold Schwarzenegger Says He Will Not Vote For Donald Trump"

He is austrian

claig · 17/10/2016 11:00

'He is austrian'

He is an American citizen. He is with the Establishment, backed politically correct John Kasich over the Republican people's choice of Trump. Schwarzenegger will not be popular with Republican voters after Trump wins. He backed the wrong horse, he backed the Establishment.

Yes of course, Arnie was Governor of California and therefore part of the Establishment.

claig · 17/10/2016 11:04

'Arnie was Governor of California and therefore part of the Establishment.'

Some Governores have gone with Trump and the people, but there are others who have gone all in with the elites. I think they will be on the losing side, but we will find out on Nov 8th.

It IS a sin to sexually assault women

It's also a sin to socially engineer your own country to suit your own greed for power and money, to erode its character and destroy its nucleus by bringing in hostiles who you think you will have use for in your dream of an America without borders. People who came to America from 1890 to 1950 built modern America, and gave that country its pep and vigour, but trucking in various migrants to small sleepy towns all over America is crazy.

CBNNews.com – SHELBYVILLE, Tenn. They would go into stores and haggle over prices. They would also demand to see a male salesperson, would not deal with women in stores… some Somali students won’t talk to female administrators… Somalis have isolated themselves from the rest of the community. All perfectly normal Islamic behavior, typified by contempt for infidels and women. As for “isolating themselves from the rest of the community,” that has to do with Koranic verses such as 3:28: “Let not the believers take disbelievers for their friends in preference to believers."

Anyone think that Hilllllary's vision will work?

Southallgirl · 17/10/2016 11:34

claig - the Number 8 is a very potent number in Numerology apparently.

nauticant · 17/10/2016 11:43

I wonder what claig's line would had been if Schwarzenegger had said he'd vote for Trump?

Boosiehs · 17/10/2016 11:46

Anyone else imagining claig et al foaming at the mouth while protesting about Trump's amazing record as a business man - those bankruptcies were good things oh and those women were making it up and they are all against him.

Not at all paranoid sounding, oh no.

Boosiehs · 17/10/2016 11:49

"claig - the Number 8 is a very potent number in Numerology apparently."

Well that sealed it for me. Bwahaha.
