What happens if Trump wins?

I know the comments Trump has made about blocking Muslims from the USA, and building a wall between the states and Mexico. But what will the world look like if he becomes president? People seem to be afraid of his success and suggest we 'should push the button now' or that he will be assassinated. Surely he comments are to stir up media interest?

They can't broadcast every one of his rallies.

Ah, but they have. This is the first one not to make it to broadcast. The media, which is apparently working against Trump constantly by distorting the things he says, has given him unprecedented coverage. Hillary's speeches have gone unreported, but Trump's every word has been shown more or less. Until now.

Threesoundslikealot · 07/08/2016 00:39

I thought Sanders and Trump were both anti-Establishment? Surely more important than left-wing/right-wing distinctions?

claig · 07/08/2016 00:41

'The media, which is apparently working against Trump constantly by distorting the things he says, has given him unprecedented coverage.'

Yes because to the utmost annoyance of Davos and Jeb Bush, people are interested in Trump, which is why CNN's Republican debate got 24 million viewers this year as opposed to just 1 million 4 years ago when Romney was in it. The media is a business and needs high ratings and its competitors are giving Trump airtime, so they have to too or they will lose viewers.

'Hillary's speeches have gone unreported'

Because fewer people are interested in listening.

The rallies are now old hat. Everyone has seen Trump and heard all his jokes, so the novelty has worn off and they don't broadcast them so much any more, but they do interrupt their live schedules if he says anything big.

Trump's team of advisors. Good to see he's broken free of The Establishment, especially those dreadful Wall Street types.

'I thought Sanders and Trump were both anti-Establishment? Surely more important than left-wing/right-wing distinctions?'

They are, but they disagree on lts of issues like climate change, so it is a big divide. Some Bernie supporters won't vote for Hillary because she is Establishment. It remains to be seen how many of those will vote for anti-establishment Trump. If they are big on climate change they won't, but if they are big on trade and jobs, they pssibly will.

People are interested in what Trump has to say because it's car crash stuff. Interest is not always approval.

claig · 07/08/2016 00:45

'especially those dreadful Wall Street types'

Those are some of the good ones.

claig · 07/08/2016 00:46

'People are interested in what Trump has to say because it's car crash stuff. Interest is not always approval.'

I agree and that is why the media broadcast it live, hoping for car crash entertainment.

Any comment on his team of bankers and billionaire businessmen?

Lweji · 07/08/2016 00:47

No, that is why the Establishment tries to scare them over Trump

Isn't Trump trying to scare voters over Hillary?
Even threatening of civil unrest in case she wins.

Threesoundslikealot · 07/08/2016 00:48

'especially those dreadful Wall Street types'

Those are some of the good ones.

Please tell us how to spot a 'good' banker/businessman from a bad one. Especially when it comes to financing and advising presidential candidates.

Lweji · 07/08/2016 00:49

Those are some of the good ones.

Aren't they unicorns?

claig · 07/08/2016 00:49

'Any comment on his team of bankers and billionaire businessmen?'

Good people, a very competent team.

We all know Trump has an exceedingly high IQ, but he can't run everything by himself, so he is going to need help from good people like that top-notch team of gurus.

claig · 07/08/2016 00:51

'Please tell us how to spot a 'good' banker/businessman from a bad one'

One yardtick is, if they are supporting Trump, they must be good.

Threesoundslikealot · 07/08/2016 00:52

How did I know you'd say that?!

Kaija · 07/08/2016 00:53

This is some grim stuff.

claig · 07/08/2016 00:54

'How did I know you'd say that?!'

Because great minds think alike?

claig · 07/08/2016 00:57

'Isn't Trump trying to scare voters over Hillary?'

Yes, he is doing it about her and she is doing it about him. That is how politics goes.

Threesoundslikealot · 07/08/2016 00:58

Sorry, Claig, but we have nothing in common. It'll be a cold day in hell before I support a racist, lying, bigoted hypocrite who wants to torture people, ally himself to an expansionist despot, and stir up civil unrest in false pretences.

Threesoundslikealot · 07/08/2016 00:59

Politics is meant to be at least based on truth and trust, odd as that will seem to any Trump supporter.

claig · 07/08/2016 01:00

Threesoundslikealot, we have that in common.

Good night.

claig · 07/08/2016 01:01

'Politics is meant to be at least based on truth and trust'

It never has been, just look at the Remain campaign.

Threesoundslikealot · 07/08/2016 01:04

You are doing exactly that, Claig, as I think you must know.

Lweji · 07/08/2016 01:05

Hmmm...

About his supposed IQ and "academic" achievements:
www.washingtonpost.com/opinions/five-myths-donald-trump-tells-about-donald-trump/2016/01/28/b7cead16-c46e-11e5-9693-933a4d31bcc8_story.html

"Gwenda Blair, in her 2001 book “The Trumps,” said that Trump’s grades at Fordham were just “respectable” and that he got into Wharton mainly because he had an interview with an admissions officer who had been a high school classmate of his older brother."

SpecialAgentFreyPie · 07/08/2016 01:13

Sorry Claig, I appreciate you taking the the time to respond to me, but I'm just not smart enough to understand I guess. Sad
