What happens if Trump wins?

I know the comments Trump has made about blocking Muslims from the USA, and building a wall between the states and Mexico. But what will the world look like if he becomes president? People seem to be afraid of his success and suggest we 'should push the button now' or that he will be assassinated. Surely he comments are to stir up media interest?

Claig Don't the President and VP have to work very closely together? I know it's not an equal partnership, but it's still a relationship

claig · 05/08/2016 11:59

'Most things, certainly details, go unanswered.'

I haven't got the time to answer every detail from everybody who disagrees with me. I try to answer as many as I can.

Lweji · 05/08/2016 12:00

I try to answer as many as I can.

You mostly reply with slogans. You seem to have time for those.
And to selectively quote from articles.

UnderTheGreenwoodTree · 05/08/2016 12:01

I do by the way approve of the Huffpost's Trump footer, on every article they publish about him.

Me too. And here it is for those who don't click on links:

Editor’s note: Donald Trump regularly incites political violence and is a serial liar, rampant xenophobe, racist, misogynist and birther who has repeatedly pledged to ban all Muslims — 1.6 billion members of an entire religion — from entering the U.S.

Why anyone who is not a rampant xenophobe, racist or misogynist would vote for him is beyond me.

claig · 05/08/2016 12:01

'Don't the President and VP have to work very closely together? I know it's not an equal partnership, but it's still a relationship'

Usually the VP hs little power, it is a ceremonial role, which is why Establishment Kasich was not really interested in the role if Trump had offered it to him. It only becomes important if something happens to Trump, in which case Pence will take over. Pence is Establishment, so if that happens, it will be a continuation of Establishment policies and an end to the Trump revolution.

Lweji · 05/08/2016 12:02

That's right. I watched The West Wing. I know things
And more than can be said for Trump.

Threesoundslikealot · 05/08/2016 12:02

Pence is a Tea Party man, who would end up producing a lot of policy once Trump collapsed, and possibly end up President after an impeachment.

Roe v Wade isn't for Congress. It's for the Supreme Court. So the President's power to appoint to the Supreme Court is what matters. Plenty of support for pro-life in the U.S. Plenty of state law already exists to make it virtually impossible to get a legal abortion in parts of the country.

claig · 05/08/2016 12:03

'You mostly reply with slogans'

I think that is a bit unfair. I do like the odd slogan, but I answer on Pence, why he is not that important etc etc, and that Trump is really a liberal

PacificDogwod · 05/08/2016 12:03

Oh, I watched The West Wing and Scandal AND House of Cards - I am expert!

Clearly I have too much time on my hands…. Hmm

PacificDogwod · 05/08/2016 12:04

The VP only becomes important if the POTUS is out of commission - too ill for office/abducted/dead.

Lweji · 05/08/2016 12:05

I think that is a bit unfair.

Read your own posts.

claig · 05/08/2016 12:06

'Pence is a Tea Party man'

So were Rubio and Cruz who rode to power on the populist Tea Part wave, but everybody knows they are Establishment through and through which is why Trump has not received Cruz's endorsement and why the Establishment backed them with millions of dollars in its failed attempt to stop the Trump Train.

Trump is different to the lot of them, which is why he is so popular.

SpecialAgentFreyPie · 05/08/2016 12:07

Pacific Season 4 of House of Cards.. >shivers<

Thanks for the info on VP. I'm surprised, I always thought VP was equal to say, Secretary of State in decision making.

Threesoundslikealot · 05/08/2016 12:09

Yes, plenty of scary Tea Party types out there. The Republicans are in big trouble. The voters are far more moderate than the candidates their core voters are crazy for. Bush was the most moderate in the field.

SpecialAgentFreyPie · 05/08/2016 12:11

Who is the Establishment? Can you give me names? Google just comes up with that anti-semetic Rothschild nonsense. Who, specifically, are these people?

SpecialAgentFreyPie · 05/08/2016 12:11

Bush was the most moderate in the field

That says a lot...

claig · 05/08/2016 12:25

'Who, specifically, are these people?'

No one knows who they are, all we know is who their servants are, but big Republican donors etc drive Establishment policy.

Threesoundslikealot · 05/08/2016 12:29

Claig, could you respond to all the points put to you about the danger Trump poses to all those who are NOT the Elite but who he has repeatedly denigrated and abused? And that's not the media spin, that is what Trump has actually SAID and DONE?

And why, if the answer is that it's all bullshit and he doesn't mean what he says, anyone can think that a single thing he says is worth listening to? This is the inherent contradiction in what you say that I just can't unpick.

SpecialAgentFreyPie · 05/08/2016 12:32

I'm trying to follow, honestly. This is just foreign for me.

So who are the servants? I don't mean other politicians who slam Trump; I mean the actual servants who work for these unknown elites.

What are the servants jobs? What do they actually do?

BTW thank you for answering my questions and being patient with my ignorance. Much appreciated.

claig · 05/08/2016 12:43

'Claig, could you respond to all the points put to you about the danger Trump poses to all those who are NOT the Elite but who he has repeatedly denigrated and abused?'

He poses no danger which is why Trump has a higher poll rating with white women and white men than Hillary does and he has a higher poll rating among Latinos and African-Americans and Muslim Americans than Romney or McCain had, but scores less well with those groups than Hillary because they are traditionally Democrat voters.

There is a relentless negative media campaign against Trump in order to drive his potential vote down, but he outperforms the polls that are reported.

Trump doesn't mean half the stuff he says. People have to decide for themselves what they think he will do and what he won't.

claig · 05/08/2016 12:45

'So who are the servants? I don't mean other politicians who slam Trump; I mean the actual servants who work for these unknown elites.'

The servants are the politicians who push through the globalist policies that the Establishment want to see implemented and which Trump is against. He was for Brexit, the Establishment was against it.

StorminaBcup · 05/08/2016 12:48

Trump doesn't mean half the stuff he says. People have to decide for themselves what they think he will do and what he won't.

Surely the point of being anti-establishment is objecting to the lack of transparency in the elitist decision making? By your very definition of Trump (opposing the elite), a clear policy should be the one thing he should have. People shouldn't be left guessing what he will or won't do.

SpecialAgentFreyPie · 05/08/2016 12:52

The servants are the politicians who push through the globalist policies that the Establishment want to see implemented and which Trump is against. He was for Brexit, the Establishment was against it

Yes but who? Do you have any names? I don't agree with you but I want to learn more about this.

However if there are no names, it whiffs a tad of conspiracy theories/paranoia.

Lweji · 05/08/2016 12:55

Over the last few months, claig has consistently supported a bullshitting, lying, rude, ignorant man whose words nobody can trust because he doesn't mean what he says, but apparently we can believe the part where he's for the people (because he says so, and even though he's nothing like the people, and in fact more economic elite and establishment), and the part that he knows more and has more information than is public.

So, how do you believe a person whose words can't be trusted?

You might as well believe in Greek or Roman gods too.

Don't you feel like cognitive dissonance?
On one hand you say you believe what he says. On the other that you don't.
It's just wishful thinking on your part, isn't it?

SpecialAgentFreyPie · 05/08/2016 13:00

Also, with regards to the whole elite thing... How is Trump NOT an elite? He ticks every box!

It's him pretending to be something he's not that annoys me.

It's his hard on for nuclear weapons that give me panic attacks.
