What happens if Trump wins?

I know the comments Trump has made about blocking Muslims from the USA, and building a wall between the states and Mexico. But what will the world look like if he becomes president? People seem to be afraid of his success and suggest we 'should push the button now' or that he will be assassinated. Surely he comments are to stir up media interest?

'Kinda OT but is Trump really planning to toss out Roe v Wade?! '

No, because Trump is a liberal. As an evangelical pastor said, the evangelicals have backed Trump not because he is "religiously correct", but because he is not "politically correct". Everybody knows that and the evangelicals don't care, only the Establishment ones have kicked up a fuss as the Establishment tries to bring Trump down.

'My point is, Claig, I'm not an 'elite' and I'm afraid of Trump.'

Yes, because of the Establishment media coverage. That is how the whizzkids from Oxbridge and Harvard work, those are the tricks they use, that is all they have got, but it doesn't foll the Corbynistas and it certainly doesn't fool the Trumpites.

'Do you think I'm the only one? Truly? Because I don't.'

No, the Establisjment and its media have frightened many people about Trump, just as they tried their utmost t frighten people about Brexit, but in the end, they won't be able to fool enough of them, just as they didn't over Brexit. They have nothing left.

claig · 05/08/2016 11:33

'How does him 'having the elite's number' and 'knowing the game' make him likely to look after the interests of the people?'

Because the whole reasn that there are anti-establishment movements all over the world and that Brexit succeeded in the face of the united might of the international establishment and its cronies, is that people know that they have been conned by the elite. Trump says it openly and that is why people support him. Trump intends to "clean house" and that is what the people want and what the elite fear.

SpecialAgentFreyPie · 05/08/2016 11:35

Claig Sorry if I sound stupid, but he's not liberal, he's Republican?

But he said the stuff about Roe v Wade?

You said he's a bullshitter, yes? (please bear with me, I'm new to well, intelligent conversation! Blush) So how do we know what he is saying to scare/shock/get votes/etc versus 'I really mean and really WILL do that?'

Honestly I just want to get to November 9th so it's all over! I could never handle the stress of being a politician haha.

Threesoundslikealot · 05/08/2016 11:35

Trump was given an enormous sum of money by his father. Had he put that in a decent savings vehicle, he would now have more money than he currently does. The only reason he is not bankrupt multiple times over is injections of public money, over and over again.

Hillary Clinton has made money more successfully, but obviously when she does it it's a bad thing and she becomes one of the elite. Hmm

Claig, can you honestly say that if you were an African American (a group in which Trump polls a maximum of 2% support) you would feel that a man who accepts the support of the KKK was going to make your life better?

If you were an American woman, would you feel that a man who derides professional woman on the basis of their looks, who uses casual misogynism constantly, who uses your reproductive rights as a bargaining chip, would you feel that he would make your life better?

As a Mexican American, would you feel that a man who is going to build a wall to keep 'more of you' out, would represent your interests?

None of these people are elite. Far from it. They are unquestionably the People though.

Lweji · 05/08/2016 11:36

You kind of missed the bit where you're supposed to think he can grasp the issues.
He may be street smart, but he's been showing he's not higher level smart. At all.

Lweji · 05/08/2016 11:39

And, btw, I'm not worried about how he'll fight the elites and stick for the people.
Quite the opposite. I'm convinced he'll give them two fingers and royally fuck it up for the people you care so much about. Like he's done all his life. There's a clue in past behaviour.

claig · 05/08/2016 11:41

'Claig Sorry if I sound stupid, but he's not liberal, he's Republican?'

That's not what the Republican Establishment think. They say he is not a Republican, Jeb Bush was almost in tears as Trum was thrashing him despite his Establishment millions of dollars backing when he said "he's taken over my party".

'The many ways in which Donald Trump was once a liberal’s liberal'

www.washingtonpost.com/news/the-fix/wp/2015/07/09/ths-many-ways-in-which-donald-trump-was-once-a-liberals-liberal/

Lots of people thought and still think that Trump works for Hillary and will deliberately lose, but they don't understand Trump, this is real which is why Davos is in pieces.

'So how do we know what he is saying to scare/shock/get votes/etc versus 'I really mean and really WILL do that?''

We don't. We have to take it on trust, or vote for Hillary otherwise, just as we have to trust Cameron or Corbyn etc. There are no guarantees. We have to make a judgement if Trump is for real and if Davos is terrified of him.

Lweji · 05/08/2016 11:41

SpecialAgentFreyPie
you don't sound stupid at all.

PacificDogwod · 05/08/2016 11:46

Isn't' it interesting how a number of us are trying to debate with one poster who a. I am quite sure will not change their mind (which is fair enough, I won't change mine either) and b. does not actually engage with meaningful argument as if it mattered?
Many of us here won't be able to vote in this election (I think including claig).

And as an aside, why do I usually picture claig as a man? Confused
I really don't know - I suppose I miss an empathic side or something.

I hope this does not sound horrid, it's not meant to be. And I am quite sure if you felt piled upon you'd let us know?

Anyway, I may have to engage with RL.

claig · 05/08/2016 11:50

I am often piled upon, but I am never rude to other posters and try to answer every point.

SpecialAgentFreyPie · 05/08/2016 11:51

Lweji Grin Flowers

Claig are you a woman? I'm so sorry I thought you were a man!

SpecialAgentFreyPie · 05/08/2016 11:52

Claig I ma not agree with you, but you definitely are polite. And passionate!

PacificDogwod · 05/08/2016 11:52

Well, I hope I have been giving you the same curtesy.

Special, you've got your brain switched on Grin

Lweji · 05/08/2016 11:52

I have nothing better to do but watch ds in the pool. I can't even go in due to my heavy period (not a successful attempt yesterday)
At least I'm enjoying my holidays before armageddon. Grin

claig · 05/08/2016 11:52

Yes, I am a woman.

Threesoundslikealot · 05/08/2016 11:53

Sorry to cause anxiety but yes, Trump has pledged to appoint to the Supreme Court with a view to overturning RvW. Pence has reaffirmed this in the last week.

m.huffpost.com/us/entry/us_5733400be4b0bc9cb048aef2

I do by the way approve of the Huffpost's Trump footer, on every article they publish about him.

Yes, debating with Claig probably meets the definition of insanity nicely. I guess maybe others are reading, possibly.

claig · 05/08/2016 11:53

'Claig I may not agree with you, but you definitely are polite. And passionate!'

Thanks, Special, and you are too.

SpecialAgentFreyPie · 05/08/2016 11:54

I'm so flattered. Intelligent is not something people ever associate me with, so thank you!

Stops derailing<

What do we think of Pence? coughs drily

Threesoundslikealot · 05/08/2016 11:55

By which, Claig, I mean doing the same thing repeatedly and expecting a different outcome!

But you really don't address every point. Most things, certainly details, go unanswered.

claig · 05/08/2016 11:55

'Yes, debating with Claig probably meets the definition of insanity nicely'

Because I hold a differnet opinion? One that is shared by millions and millions of voters in America, just like for Brexit here.

I have an answer for every question because I have thought it through and understand why Brexit won and why Trump will win.

Lweji · 05/08/2016 11:56

He can't possibly be worse than Trump. Grin

I do have to read on him, although he sounds like someone who was desperate enough to accept being Trump's mate.

SpecialAgentFreyPie · 05/08/2016 11:56

I don't think he'd ACTUALLY turn over Roe v Wade. It's a threat/promise to get the birthers on board. Surely he'd be blocked if he put that through Congress anyway?

In fact, how will he get any of his more extreme ideas through Congress? (That's right. I watched The West Wing. I know things)

claig · 05/08/2016 11:57

'What do we think of Pence? coughs drily'

I don't like him, he is Republican Establishment, but hopefully, under Trump he won't have much say.

SpecialAgentFreyPie · 05/08/2016 11:57

hen I hear Pence talk, all I can think about is how much he seems to really hate women. Like, a lot.

Threesoundslikealot · 05/08/2016 11:58

See my explanation above, Claig. Because the argument never moves on. You say the same generalities over and over without particularly engaging in the questions people ask or points they make, and you don't seem to read links posted.
