Do you think the Tories will get a majority in 2015?

?

Or are we more likely to have another coalition?

As Labour through dodgy boundaries only need 35% of the vote to get a majority in parliament (so the Conservative would need a several point LEAD in the polls to get a small majority) it is unlikely the Conservatives form a government on their own.

The Tory scum won't have a majority ever again, because their ideology is from the Edwardian and Vicotrian era, and there simply aren't enough old, reactionary white men left to vote for them. They're a part of the past.

But what happens on a Scottish vote for independence this year, look at the ‘colours’ on the electoral map of ENGLAND after the 2010; how can ANYONE say that Labour is the party of England?

You're confusing electoral area with percentage of popular votes. Either because you're stupid or because you're again deliberately misleading people.

Honestly .. If the only alternative is Miliband (Confused ) then I hope to god that the tories do get back in.

lottieandmia · 06/04/2014 13:14

None of the leaders are very popular. I tend to agree a coalition is likely.

Labour making student fees a BIT less horrendous will be popular, though I don't see why we can't give our kids free higher education again, as the Scots do. The bloody coalition managed to make higher education for students in England the most expensive in the whole of Europe. AND in so doing, they've inculcated in our children the insane notion that personal debt is absolutely fine. What planet do they live on - no understanding of ordinary people's lives and concerns.
Labour will certainly get in next time.

lottieandmia · 06/04/2014 14:27

This idea of no housing benefit for the under 25s is really bloody scary.

Dotnet ....Labour's policy for 50% of children going to Uni was never funded and the review to give option was to report after the general election - so you never knew what they'd do to fund their own policy. Scotland get more funding from England per head than the English, so they have more options for 'nice' things.

ttosca .... Labour's ideology can not pay the bills, the only reason they lasted so long was the economy they inherited in 1997 (no where near the basket case they passed over in 1979) that had grown for 27 conseq quarters - and they increased spending 50% over several years, unprecedented anywhere I can think off, funded by the taxes from speculation - which caused the budget deficit.

If Labour's policies are sustainable, tell me the last time anti business Labour left power with UK unemployment LOWER than when they come in????

motown3000 · 06/04/2014 15:52

Take the 57 Scottish seats away , you have 593 seats left meaning to gain a Majority Government you need 297. The Conservative Party have 295 Seats in England alone. ttosca. Be very Worried , because when Scotland becomes the "SSR: Scottish Socialist Republic and when the Conservative Party , elect a "Normal" Multi Cultural Comprehensive Educated Leader, of which there are two Choices. Labour Will be in Serious trouble, Labour is a Party that has nothing to offer anyone South Of Liverpool.

overthemill · 06/04/2014 16:05

No the Tories won't win

SilverOldie · 06/04/2014 16:46

Yes, the Tories will win - thank god.

SauvignonBlanche · 06/04/2014 16:49

God, I fucking hope not. IDS make me feel sick this morning.

ssd · 06/04/2014 20:16

Polly Toynbee did well not to smack his smug face when he was poo pooing everything she said as of she was a naughty child

Viviennemary · 06/04/2014 20:30

I think it will be very close and another coalition most likely. I wonder if UKIP will get many seats. I think this Maria Miller thing has damaged the Tory vote.

fayrae · 06/04/2014 20:56

I see another coalition. Either Tory/UKIP or Labour/Libdem. Or maybe Tory/Libdem again. Or even Labour/UKIP. Anything could happen. It really should be shoe-in for Labour but they seem to be doing everything they can not to win.

fayrae · 06/04/2014 20:58

Polly Toynbee is pretty much wrong about anything, ssd.

hotcrosshunny · 06/04/2014 20:59

Coalition please.

They're all shite.

hotcrosshunny · 06/04/2014 21:01

I didn't hear the Tories complaining at the time. Oh, wait, you're forgetting the worldwide recession...

Hassled · 06/04/2014 21:03

I think it'll be bloody close UNLESS Labour up their game quite considerably. They need to actually start showing people what they stand for - they need to take back some initiative.

I think all main parties need to be seriously worried about UKIP. They scare the fuck out of me. UKIP will get votes on the basis that people are thinking LibDem = small bastards, Con = big bastards, Labour = previous bastards - so they might as well vote for that affable bloke they've seen on the telly. Farage is dangerous - he has that likeability that people go for, without understanding what he represents.

Yes at least we know what the Tories stand for. Themselves I.e. super rich.

Linguini · 06/04/2014 21:05

Why are we stuck choosing between these imbeciles in the first place. People should be asking where is the party that actually speaks for any citizens who exist in this country? I will vote once there is a party worthy of voting for.

LondonInLausanne · 06/04/2014 21:06

I think the tories will get in. There was a comedian on tv the other night, i can't remember his name but he knew David Cameron from Uni. He said "everyone hated the tories in the 80s; the teachers, the miners, the civil servants, everyone hated them...but they still got re-elected and then re-elected again". Tory bashing is a public sport but voting is held in private.

ExcuseTypos · 06/04/2014 21:06

I hate all of them.

Labour spend too much money and I hate Tb with a passion. I know he's no longer leader but he is a a little shit.

Conservatives don't spend enough and are arrogant tossers.

Lib dems dither.

I don't know who to vote for.

ttosca · 06/04/2014 21:06

Stop making a fool of yourself, Isitmebut.

PrincessOfChina · 06/04/2014 21:07

Way back when I was at uni (1998 ish), a politics lecturer told us that we'd enter a period of collation in the early 2010's and it would remain for around 15 years. I can't see either Labour or Conservative getting a majority - remember most UKIP voters are former Tories so they'll lose there. And people who switch from Lib Dem will swing to Labour, not Conservative.
