Justice for Men and Boys - Isn't this exactly why we need feminism

wickeddevil · 30/03/2013 22:27

Heard Justice for Men and Boys Founder Mike Buccanan on Womens Hour earlier today complaining that men pay 72% of all income tax.
Well isn't that because they have more income?

And instead of complaining about the feminist agenda doesn't it demonstrate why we need it?

"According to this Telegraph article Female graduates earn less than males ? even if they studied the same subject though - the outlook is a lot more rosy for boys than girls:"

Hang on, need to put new batteries in the bullshit detector.

That's not what I heard.

And from those links I deduce that... Boys are rubbish at doing links Wink

seeker · 16/04/2013 21:56

Vardak- could you give me some idea when you're going to get round to Phase 2? I need to decide whether to go to bed or not.

Vadark · 16/04/2013 22:01

Running for Hills - Here you go Vadark

You posted a link to a bunch of feminists that are campaigning against objectification of women in the media!?! And call that misogyny?

If that is about hating women then God only knows what the World thinks of men because you can't open a single magazine or watch the TV for more than 5 seconds these days without being bombarded with oiled-up, half-naked men posing for the titillation of women. It's everywhere and at all times of the day and it's far, far more extreme. For example, TV programmes show the male genitals whilst at the same time censoring female genitals. DOUBLE STANDARD.

I happened to flick over to something not long ago - I think it was shameless USA or something like that, and there were graphical close-ups of some man's penis and testicles.

And there are plenty of junk programmes like eurotrash and similar (NO I don't watch it, just happened to stumble across it!!!) where in the very same programme, in the very same scene, they show the male genitals waving around at full close-up and then blur out the female even at long range. It's yet another case of female protection and privilege that they are afforded censorship.

Don't talk to me about objectification or inequalities when it comes to nudity, otherwise you'll be onto yet another loser!

Yep, because every tabloid newspaper has a Page Three Boy, doesn't it?

Suprmarkets and newsagents have shelves of "woman's magazines" with pictures of men in submissive poses.

Vadark · 16/04/2013 22:06

Still on Phase 1.

Do you agree that (apart from the femidom) the female contraception is pretty much undetectable and invisible to the man?

And do you agree that the condom, which is pretty much the main form of male contraception, is pretty in your face obvious?

"The person who is typing these words is dangerously angry, over-bearing, controlling and abusive. There is a tone which is, at best, exremely unpleasant, at worst, threatening."

Nah, you just don't know me. I'm down to Earth, happy, easy-going and more logical than Mr Spock.

Vadark · 16/04/2013 22:11

"I thinks they're getting people talking about issues that before have just been accepted as the norm though."

Precisely!

SigmundFraude · 16/04/2013 22:12

Mike B has just posted this, I would be really interested to hear what everyone thinks about this (hopefully in a non scathing way, perhaps). I think it's pretty indicative that things aren't quite as they seem, and my concern for my sons has shot up even more (if that was possible).

female supremacy

Funnily enough, straight after, I read an article about Beyonce starring in a video that had gone viral. Here's a bit:

"....As she heads up a whole host of influential stars who have joined forces for Chime For Change in support of girls? and women?s empowerment around the world, Beyoncé reveals that she tells her daughter every day that she can be President. "

Which is all great, but where's a similar video for my boys to watch?

Btw Annie, I know that all feminists are not the same, that they hold different values and have different views. It was brilliant that you challenged anti-male stereotypes. Sadly, too many people have negative views of men and boys.

Vadark · 16/04/2013 22:14

"Just on that objectification Does that mean J4mB also campaigns against Page 3?"

Probably not because for every page 3 girl in the Sun there is probably another 5 beefy, stripped-to-the-waste guys in the rest of the paper. It's just that us guys are supposed to live with that.

seeker · 16/04/2013 22:17

Well, there's vasectomy. But yes. I agree.

You do remember that my original question was about a pregnancy that was genuinely accidental, don't you?

And if you think you are leading me into agreeing that sometimes women lie to men and get pregnant, then you don't have to- I know that happens. I know of two- possibly three women who did it, and I think it's despicable behaviour.
However, the thing about a condom is that you can always have one in your pocket in case of need. Instant contraception. Which is not th case for most methods available to women.

AnnieLobeseder · 16/04/2013 22:19

Um, Sigmund, if boys want inspiration to be President, all they have to do is look at the White House. What a ridiculous notion that some kind of inspirational music video is required for them when boys have unbroken generations of real live actual male role models.

I really am hiding this thread now. It's damaging my mental health.

Blistory · 16/04/2013 22:20

Almost 900 posts and we're still relying on "but women do it too".

Women do it too but it's not the same.

Pictures of men, oiled or otherwise, aren't on Page 3. Mens chests on display are not the same as breasts. There isn't the same sexual element to it.

Penises on tv ? Really ? Not unless you go looking and rarely erect. Contrast with all the channels advertising phone ins with women gyrating on the screen. Haven't seen a male equivalent probably because women don't think they have an entitlement to wank over men's bodies on screen and fake sextalk on a premium phone line but whatever.

Women hit men. Yes of course some women hit men. Women sexually assault men. Yes of course some women sexually assault men but here's a newsflash - it's wrong. But it's still not the same. You are conveniently ignoring the dynamic in being hit by someone who is physically capable of killing you. Women's violence against men is not as extreme in most cases as a punch, a kick, strangulation, rape. Men's violence does more physical harm in the main.

So even where women do it too, IT'S NOT SAME NOR IS IT ACCEPTABLE.

Vadark · 16/04/2013 22:20

"Suprmarkets and newsagents have shelves of "woman's magazines" with pictures of men in submissive poses."

Not as bad as the mags designed for the young female that show boys UNDER 18 in suggestive, sexual poses.

Watch programmes like the XFactor and you'll see and hear female judges making lewd comments over half-naked boys under 18 (don't tell me it hasn't happened!!!) and yet you'll NEVER see a male judge say such things, even when they're over 18. Do you know why? Because today's society has been indoctrinated by feminism to set the levels of acceptability at totally different ends of the spectrum for men and women. That, and the fact that men appear to be fundamentally more decent when it comes to things ike this.

You're programmed based on limits of acceptability. You can't help it.

Blistory · 16/04/2013 22:22

SF, there isn't a video for boys because they already know they can be President, as evidenced by the last 50 odd Presidents.

AnnieLobeseder · 16/04/2013 22:22

Though I am coming to the conclusion that Vadark and Sigmund must live in a parallel universe, because I absolutely do not recognise nor live in the one they're describing.

Bye folks, hope the rest of the thread goes well.

Vadark · 16/04/2013 22:26

"Btw Annie, I know that all feminists are not the same, that they hold different values and have different views. It was brilliant that you challenged anti-male stereotypes. Sadly, too many people have negative views of men and boys."

100% agree and I, too, admire Annie for thinking outside the box.

Brilliant video link by Mike, by the way.

AutumnMadness · 16/04/2013 22:27

Oh lords of Kobol! This question is never going to get answered. Vardak's posts are like an endless Mexican soap opera. I give up.

seeker · 16/04/2013 22:33

Anyway. About this accidental pregnancy.

SigmundFraude · 16/04/2013 22:33

'SF, there isn't a video for boys because they already know they can be President, as evidenced by the last 50 odd Presidents.'

I'm talking about the empowerment aspect. Not the president aspect.

CoalDustWoman · 16/04/2013 22:37

For Sigmund's sons

Are the MRAs on here really some kind of feminist double-bluff performance art? If so, it's brilliant.

seeker · 16/04/2013 22:38

Boys can look at 45 (I think) American presidents- they are all men like him.

Why would boys need to be reminded that their gender can actually be president?
