So, what do you think it means for Europe?

WasabiTillyMinto · 07/05/2012 16:50

he was fortunate really?

LadyWithEDS · 07/05/2012 16:51

Yes, your father was fortunate, to have a wife who stayed with him for starters! He was fortunate to be alive, he was fortunate to have enough savings to support himself, so yes I think your Father from your description is a fortunate man.

righty ho.

WasabiTillyMinto · 07/05/2012 16:55

you are very odd if you think someone who cannot feed themselves is lucky. & you dimish what they acheived in life & say its just 'fortuate'.

i really cannot be arsed with you.

LadyWithEDS · 07/05/2012 16:58

Your post to me making a personal attack, and the way you speak about your Father as if he is some tragic human being who's only worth was due to working hard when they were fit, makes me feel quite sad for you Wasabi.

WasabiTillyMinto · 07/05/2012 17:02

you are talking rubbish. but carry on....

LadyWithEDS · 07/05/2012 17:05

in your opinion Wasabi!

I feel sorry for someone who defines someone else's worth by how hard they can work, by how much money they earn and save, by their ability to feed themselves, that negative view point must be such a sad way to look at the world. I would imagine someone who views the world and people in such a negative way of their worth and contribution to society, must be very hard on themselves, as hard as they are on others.

....and on....

JuliaScurr · 07/05/2012 17:35

Even Warren Buffet attributes his good fortune to luck

WasabiTillyMinto · 07/05/2012 17:38

I am a fan of WB, never heard him talk about luck. do you have a reference?

JuliaScurr · 07/05/2012 17:44

I think it was a R4 interview about 2 yrs ago

WasabiTillyMinto · 07/05/2012 17:52

i think you were mistaking modesty. i dont think there is anyone who knows about investment would describe WB as lucky.

he is the Sage of Ohmaha, not Lucky Jim!

WasabiTillyMinto · 07/05/2012 17:55

people can have terrible luck that you cannot recover from but a lot of people seem to put their personal failures down to bad luck when its just a way of avoiding accepting their own past mistakes.

LadyWithEDS · 07/05/2012 17:59

"people can have terrible luck they cannot recovery from", well shouldn't they like the innocent children in Greece be given some help?

oh & some like to try to take away other people's success, when in their case it is down to hard work.

(of course some people work really hard wtihout getting financially rewarded for it, but that is a different point.)

WasabiTillyMinto · 07/05/2012 18:00

lady - we are done. life is too short to waste any on you.

LadyWithEDS · 07/05/2012 18:01

Why is it a different point that some people who work hard without getting financially rewarded for it?

LadyWithEDS · 07/05/2012 18:03

You sound so very negative in your posts, Wasabi! I am most pleased I don't have to deal with you in rl, as your comments to me have been very personal. It seems more a reflection on you than it does of me from my point of view.

OP posts:
WasabiTillyMinto · 07/05/2012 18:10

are you done yet?

LadyWithEDS · 07/05/2012 18:12

Wasabi, you don't own MN, you can't control me, devalue my existance or put me down, I hope that helps make things clear for you now.

OP posts:
WasabiTillyMinto · 07/05/2012 18:19

what on earth are you talking about? you told me my paralysed father, hadnt made a success of his life & it was all down to him being fortunate.

then you told me i was being negative and defining him by his illness. well he did that and killed himself (by refusing a feeding tube) so how i thought he should handle it was pretty irrelvant.

now you are the victim & i am trying to police you. ok.......

WasabiTillyMinto · 07/05/2012 18:21

i have a lovely DP & a really good life thanks. really not sure where you get the negative from. i think you are looking at my reaction to your bizzare comments...

anyway all the best & can we stop this now because really life is too short for this kind on interaction.

LadyWithEDS · 07/05/2012 18:28

No, you interpreted what I said as being that, that is your choice!

I said your Father had worth disabled or not, who was fortunate in, your negative view and spin on things turned what I said into something negative.

You made personal attacks on me, again for yourself.

I can see that the end of your Father's live and how it ended could be having an effect on your view of things, it helps me understand why you are twisting things and being nasty, it does not excuse the way you have spoken to me. It is very sad that he felt that he didn't feel happy living the life he had when he was disabled and that his thoughs were so negative that he wanted to end his life. It must have been a horrible time for him and you.

I hope that one day you will learn that everyone's experiences colour how they are, and that one day you will look at someone who has experienced difficulties in their life and instead of that giving them a purpose to work hard and be hard like you display in your posts, that another may crumble and give up and need to be looked after, be that with benefits or by the nhs.
