I'm not quite a frothing berserker but I am getting rather cross with our government messing with the good stuff.

Just off the top of my head:

  • Student fees
  • Public sector workers terms and conditions (otherwise known as moving the goal posts after the match has started)
  • Women (Report on Fawcett legal challenge result here)
  • Sure Start
  • NHS
  • Erosion of employment rights
  • Removal of EMA
  • Removal of universal child benefit
  • Unfair changes to DLA
  • Unfair changes to ESA assessment

I am getting more and more fed up that these decisions are being made to take away some of the things we should be most proud of and that took years to be achieved.

This thread is a safe haven for some ranting as I know some of us are feeling sick and tired of it all.

face it libdems actually got us into this mess. they leapt to go in with the tories. they have destroyed their future in doing so sadly.

TeWihara · 29/11/2011 19:30

I don't understand what the point of 'having a say' is if they are never actually going to SAY anything!

PandorasSocks · 29/11/2011 19:30

I can't even think of Clegg and his party of lying, power-hungry sycophants without wanting to spew!

KateMiddIeton · 29/11/2011 19:30

I agree SAF but if they're not in bed with the Tories there is no coalition. And if there's no coalition the cuts can't be forced through. That is an aim and a purpose.

swallowedAfly · 29/11/2011 19:31

basically two ways to vote - tory or NOT tory. shame there's no wonderful opposition party but there it is. you stand with or against the scheming thieves.

swallowedAfly · 29/11/2011 19:33

i don't know that anythign can be done until there is an election and i don't know if anything can be undone after one.

i'm a tad despairing today i think. the youth contract and 'free childcare' (ha bloody ha) threads have done me in.

link them all on your emails.

NotQuiteSoDesperate · 29/11/2011 19:39

I have been foaming at the mouth over this shambles for months. Every activity my ASD son took part in has been cancelled and the brilliant, experienced staff made redundant. There is absolutely nothing in our area for young adults with moderate disabilities any more. I HATE this government with a visceral hatred. Cameron had a disabled son himself, yet he is in charge of a government enabling the dismantling of services for the disabled. Even worse, disabled people are being made the targets for nasty, evil bullying and scapegoating.

Staggers off, frothing and eye swivelling.

lubeybaublely · 29/11/2011 19:42

Hello. I've been busily frothing for a while, followed the link from the AIBU thread - any chance please please of a list of the sites with petitions etc to sign? I'm a bit lost with what's what.

KateMiddIeton · 29/11/2011 19:42

Yes it can. If the coalition breaks apart Cameron as the leader of the party that won the most seats has two options. Either he tries to run a minority party or he has to call a general election.

Of course Labour could get into bed with the Lib Dems to form a coalition and go to the Queen and offer to form a new government.

The Tories have just 49 more seats than Labour.

KateMiddIeton · 29/11/2011 19:43

lubey we'll pull together a list. Any volunteers?

OP posts:
swallowedAfly · 29/11/2011 19:44

if i was labour i wouldn't consider the liberals after their election scam. i'd go for a general election.

god that would be good.

ShirleyKnot · 29/11/2011 19:47

Didn't they bring in a law of some description that meant they can't be ousted for 5 years?

KateMiddIeton · 29/11/2011 19:47

Labour couldn't make that call. Unless they had formed a coalition with the Lib Dems first.

Someone has reported the AIBU thread and it's going to be pulled Hmm

OP posts:
AnyFucker · 29/11/2011 19:49

huh ? why ?

there has always been call outs on MN

Politics section isn't high traffic

perhaps we have to keep it on "most active" then

lubeybaublely · 29/11/2011 19:51

I don't see why they can't move it to chat or politics instead Hmm

fothergill · 29/11/2011 19:52

did anyone hear the guy on radio4 on the today programme bout 7.15 splutter for about 10 minutes when asked if the new road 'improvements' actually meant tolls. He didn't answer the question.
Another stealth tax. Shouldn't actually matter as no one will be able to afford to drive by 2040 when they finally finish the project. Apart from them and their mates.

LapsedPacifist · 29/11/2011 19:52

This is the third recession I've lived and workd through since I became an adult and legally entitled to vote - the same year Margaret Thatcher was voted into power Hmm. I have seen it all before.

Always remember that:

This country is NOT skint because the previous Labour Government gave away all our taxpayers money to single mothers, immigrants and people pretending to be disabled.

This country is NOT in a recession because Fat-Cat public servants (nurses, doctors, teachers, firemen, police, sewage workers) are paid huge salaries and get enormous pensions (which they pay nothing towards) when they all retire at 55.

This Government is cutting our wages and public services and allowing the wealthiest to avoid tax whilst increasing their salaries by obscene amounts year after year BECAUSE THEY BELIEVE THIS IS THE RIGHT WAY TO RUN THE COUNTRY. ON PRINCIPLE.

This is what "Conservative Political Thinking" MEANS in this country. This is what the electorate has voted for.

AnyFucker · 29/11/2011 19:54

gah

fothergill · 29/11/2011 19:54

sorry that was meant to be on the list of things they are messing with. Not that the transport network was a great thing to be proud of. British Rail you are forgiven.
I'll get my coat.

swallowedAfly · 29/11/2011 19:58

god people are such suckers with such short memories.

who in their right mind who isn't on a salary of near to 6 figures would vote for them?

they really are what they say on the tin.

oh shit the froth is building up again and i must sleep tonight.

good list lapsedpacifist and good name!

emskaboo · 29/11/2011 19:59

I'm joining the frothing, would love something constructive to do, there's only so much ranting with like minded people even I can do (and I had a soapbox stapled to my feet at birth).

swallowedAfly · 29/11/2011 19:59
