I'm not quite a frothing berserker but I am getting rather cross with our government messing with the good stuff.

Just off the top of my head:

  • Student fees
  • Public sector workers terms and conditions (otherwise known as moving the goal posts after the match has started)
  • Women (Report on Fawcett legal challenge result here)
  • Sure Start
  • NHS
  • Erosion of employment rights
  • Removal of EMA
  • Removal of universal child benefit
  • Unfair changes to DLA
  • Unfair changes to ESA assessment

I am getting more and more fed up that these decisions are being made to take away some of the things we should be most proud of and that took years to be achieved.

This thread is a safe haven for some ranting as I know some of us are feeling sick and tired of it all.

swallowedAfly · 29/11/2011 17:58

davey boys head on a stick?

swallowedAfly · 29/11/2011 17:58

george osborne roasting on an open fire?

MrsChristmasDB · 29/11/2011 17:58

Exactly, skirt.

I would quite like the govt. to explain what waaitt actually means ?

"We are going to screw the country and get richer and richer, then fuck off" would be more appropriate.

serotoninbutterfly · 29/11/2011 18:01

Will help however I can, obv Grin

'scuse I...

May I partake in some PARDing, with a view to frothing in the future.

And may I ask some kindly frother to spell it out what I am to froth about and why? Then I can understand it and explain it to DH and the DCs and feel generally intelligent and 'in the know'.

In return, I can explain all about how to do 60's style eyeliner and how carmex is the best lipbalm ever.

GeorgeT · 29/11/2011 18:39

Wondered if I heard correctly about giving 2 year olds more nursery care so their parents can work. Might be helpful but there is a problem called unemployment. Feel the money would be better spent helping for decent apprenticeships for the young unemployed. Irony is they think it will appeal to women voters.... ha ha Shows how out of touch they are.

KateMiddIeton · 29/11/2011 18:49

There's a whole thread about that George in In The News where we establish it is not childcare at all that's being offered. It is Sure Start lite.

Pinot could you share what PARD means please (for those not in the know)? Have a glance at the OP. That covers off the gist but add in Workfare and scrapping Connexions.

I'm in.
Was angry but am now just sad. Working so hard for very little.
DP and I are skipping meals to afford xmas, the dc are on rubbish food which I hate as I always cooked decent stuff and dd has gone to school in her boots for the past two weeks as I can't even buy her a cheapy 10.00 pair til payday.
It breaks my heart to be like this I feel like we are all taking the punishment for something we didn't do.

KateMiddIeton · 29/11/2011 18:51

surestart lite. yes, catchy!

mrsmilesaway · 29/11/2011 19:10

I am frothing just sadly frothing :). Just can't look at their smug faces as they play with our lives. I do wonder if Dave ever has to choose between putting a pair of shoes on his kid or heating the house. I wouldn't have ever thought we would be living like this. I'm scared stiff.

ShirleyKnot · 29/11/2011 19:13

All of the cuts today fuck the poorest working families...again.

swallowedAfly · 29/11/2011 19:14

my dla is up for renewal and i'm terrified.

the form has been sat hidden under school papers on the kitchen side for a couple of weeks. i can't even bring myself to look at it Sad

was heartbreaking to read about people who had committed suicide over fears that their disability benefit was going to be taken away. or the really ill lady who topped herself because she simply could not face going through the assessment appointment she'd been ordered to under new schemes Sad

scary times for people. they are deliberately creating a climate of fear and misery and trying to turn people against each other. mustn't. mention. the. nazi's.

TeWihara · 29/11/2011 19:16

Can we also add to the list cuts to benefits for people with terminal illnesses? Because that one pretty neatly proves what fucking shitheads we have in government.

PandorasSocks · 29/11/2011 19:17

Wonder if David Cameron would dare to come back to MN for another webchat?

(the phrase "not in this lifetime" springs to mind).

AnyFucker · 29/11/2011 19:22

it is criminal how this govt (and previous ones) have gained public support for welfare cuts by whipping up a righteous frenzy of benefit-bashing because of the tiniest tiniest infinitesimalist, so small it is vanishing number of layabouts

it's like using demolition explosives to crack open a pistachio

it may save a few quid in the short term...but at what cost ?

it's not a society I want to live in

I didn't ask for it, I don't want it

AnyFucker · 29/11/2011 19:24

PS, he will be told about this thread, and others, believe me

will he care ?

that is ze question

PandorasSocks · 29/11/2011 19:25

Perhaps we should all email a link to this thread to our MPs and/or cabinet members. And keep emailing.

KateMiddIeton · 29/11/2011 19:27

He will say he cares. Oh they are so good at saying.

Why are the Lib Dems not doing something? Anything? I've seen Sarah Tethers make the point that they have to keep the Conservatives on side or they will have no say in government.

Except without the liberals there is no Con-Dem coalition is there? Cameron can't form a government on it's own.

Perhaps that should be in the plan; split the coalition up. Stop them being able to push through anything they like.

I actually came to Britain as a child immigrant (though I am half British) anyway, hated it for ages because of all the racist stuff and culture clash. But after a while came to love it so much for all the wonderful work of the NHS and welfare state... That basically it's a society that has built itself around caring for vulnerable people, and tries to right social inequality as much as it can, even if it's difficult and doesn't always work.

It's really horribly upsetting to see it all being pulled up away.

I haven't really talked to DH about it but I wonder if it would be better if we took the kids back to my other country. Sad
