Cameron won't wear a lounge suit to the Royal Wedding

This sort of crap is exactly why he isn't trusted as widely as he should be.

He is so paranoid about coming over as posh! He should wear his finest morning coat (or whatever it is that men wear at Royal Weddings), and enjoy the day!

His PR obsession is worrying. Thankfully, we have George Osborne in the background, keeping things on an even keel.

He won't wear a lounge suit? A lounge suit is a normal suit......what is he wearing then?

longfingernails · 19/04/2011 22:53

Sorry - I meant he won't wear the fancy suit, whatever it is - the one with the tails.

Top hat and tails?

GastonTheLadybird · 19/04/2011 22:54

He is refusing to wear a morning suit.

Meglet · 19/04/2011 22:55

I googled top hat and tails and got lots of photos of Fred Astaire.

GastonTheLadybird · 19/04/2011 22:56

News article here www.telegraph.co.uk/news/uknews/royal-wedding/8457638/Royal-wedding-David-Cameron-will-not-wear-tailcoat.html

He's apparently feeling a bit sensitive about being called a toff. Bless.

really - who cares what anyone wears to the wedding?
Hmm

ZillahWhoDrankTooMuchGin · 19/04/2011 23:04

I just got an invitation through the mails:
"your presence requested for the wedding, it's formal
A top hat, a white tie and tails"
Nothing now could take the wind out of my sails
Except that I'm invited to step out this evening
and i hope that i don't mention the princess of Wales...

I'm puttin' on my top hat
Tyin' up my white tie
.....this is probably to posh

I'm dudein' up my shirt front
Puttin' in the shirt studs
.......for the voters who don't wash

I'm steppin' out, my dear
To breathe an atmosphere that simply reeks with class
And I trust that i will not make myself look like a complete Ass

For i'll be there
sorry if i have to snub
old chums in their morning suits
from Bullingdon club

For I'll be there
looking like a top twat
Mussin' up my white tie
Dancin' in my tails

The Guardian is selling "smash the monarchy" T shirts

Really? Thanks for the heads up. ;)

ohmyfucksy · 20/04/2011 02:36

I'd refuse to let him in if he wasn't wearing a morning suit

Just for japes

earthworm · 20/04/2011 07:54

I think he should wear a morning suit if every prime minister in history has done so, but as the invitation gives the option of lounge suit for all guests it is up to him and not much of a story.

LynetteScavo · 20/04/2011 07:59

Does this mean Sam won't be wearing a hat?

meditrina · 20/04/2011 08:24

Zillah's post has left me wondering who on earth would have a white tie wedding in the morning - or is a US thing?

Agree with earthworm - it's a non-story as lounge suit is always an alternative to morning dress, but "Cameron intends to dress appropriately" isn't so catchy.

At a Royal Wedding wearing a loungue suit IS the exact equivalent of wearing jeans and a hoodie to an ordinary wedding!!

candleshoe · 20/04/2011 09:02

lounge

PlentyOfPrimroses · 20/04/2011 09:05

He's afraid he'll look like his Private Eye Dave Snooty cartoon Grin

meditrina · 20/04/2011 22:39

They're now reporting that he will be in a morning suit, as will Ed Miliband.

RamblingRosa · 20/04/2011 22:41

Do people seriously care about this shit?

OrangeBernard · 20/04/2011 22:53

Apparently he IS going to wear a morning suit now.

Penguins all round?

No, I don't care that much - only spotted now that this isn't either chat (good place for bimbling on about trivialities, or Royal Family (because it's THAT wedding).

OrangeBernard · 20/04/2011 23:19

It will be a grey one, not a penguin one
