BM it depends who is paying for that hour as I work for myself and a good few hours are on stuff ilke marketing, drumming up business, marketing etc etc which are unpaid. I think I was just speculating on why I am worth in an hour what minimum wagers are worth working a whole week or saying women should try to work smart rather than necessarily hard or whatever.

No party has proposed the robin hood tax because it would have a disasterous effect on the city of Londons competitiveness.

BoffinMum · 27/03/2011 22:44

OK, understood, fair enough, but between you and me, I think it would help if you took a step back and thought about how some of this comes across to the rest of us when you type these things. There's talk off thread about how upset people are getting about some of your posts of late, and I know you probably don't mean for people to be upset. Raw nerves are being trampled on sometimes and even though it's t'internet and all that, I think it makes sense to be a little sensitive of other people's mindsets and situations. We can't all be top dog.

I will take my school prefect hat off now.

That's just city spin and propaganda although it would make sense if at least the EU introduced it across all the member states.

huddspur · 27/03/2011 23:12

Its not city spin if we taxed transactions in this country then financial institutions would move to other states which have the free movement of capital and no tax on them.

newwave · 27/03/2011 23:19

Oh yes it is :o

Interesting article on the Robin Hood Tax here

I wonder if those who argue the coalition's cuts are justified based upon the results of a couple of polls extend the same principle to a FTT?
