are you happy with how you voted?

i currently work in the nhs and am about to go into policing within the next month. 2 areas that are about to get axed massively.

are you happy with how you voted? i am the only one in my household and in my workplace who feels i was true to my beliefs and is still happy with how i voted.

are you still happy or do you think your were duped?

i voted labour and i would again.

And actually Hecate also is right in that Labour had been in too long. I still think they were best of a bad bunch but hope now the Labour Party can regroup and become a true party of the left rather than Torylite. Cuts dids have to be made but the Conservatives always target education and the NHS. Personally I would rather they ditched Trident and subsidising large corporations and protected the health and education systems.

ThatVikRinA22 · 17/07/2010 10:43

i find it interesting because i wasnt going to vote at all, but then i did in the end.

i think there will be quite a few people with egg on their faces tbh.

so now we are denationalising the NHS. cutting the number of police and using more police staff with less powers to do the same job that they are overstretched to do to begin with, and charging kids from poorer backgrounds to go to uni, as well as trying to deliver to them an education in crumbling, overcrowded buildings great stuff.
and for the second month running house prices fell this month (which isnt in itself a bad thing - but shows the upturn is starting to slow)

i suppose its too soon to say, but im not liking this governments plans very much. it seems that people from poorer backgrounds are going to get stiffed.

Hmm.

I voted Lib Dem, as usual.

I'm glad they got into the coalition, if only as a slightly socialist buffer from the Tories.

I'm not happy with what's being proposed wrt the NHS, bloody terrified in fact, but I would always, I think, vote for what I believe in.

That being said, Labour would have been a wasted vote here.

My MIL was moaning about free swimming being cut. When I asked her how often she used it she admitted she hadnt ever used it .

Tory, and yes.

gingercat12 · 17/07/2010 11:04

I voted Labour and proud of it.

MrsSaxon · 17/07/2010 11:05

I voted Lib Dem and so far I am happy, even though my Husband works for the public sector.

Labour had to go and hopefully the liberals will soften some of the extreme tory views.

I am hoping that Labour sort themselves out and then next time I may vote for them.

claig · 17/07/2010 11:06

wasn't it the Guardian who said vote LibDem and knifed the socialist Gordon Brown. They're all liars and hypocrites, yes it is bad that private companies will profit so much, but exactly the same thing would have happened under the phony socialists with their academy schools and Group 4 prisons. The Guardian advocated getting rid of Labour and now it pretends it is back on the side of the people. These middle class granola munching Guardianistas are having a laugh at Labour voters.

The Tories are getting rid of free bus passes for the pensioners, which is bad. But we find out it was a Labour plan, the loving socialists had made it law and the Tories pretend it can't be taken off the statute book.

SanctiMoanyArse · 17/07/2010 11:11

Yes yet have since left the party
I voted for the candidate i thought would best represent us locally, someone I know and respect and has inceed since become an AM (her Dh was promoted to Lords and under Welsh system she takes AM seat as she qwualifies under bote transfer- NOT becuase theya re married LOL)

However I am now an ex Lib Dem becuase nationally I think they are shit. I've joined Labour because they are at at embryonic stage in post-Governemnt development and I would quite like a say in how the main non governmental party develops. I don't think the LD's will be with us in a decade.

As for the Tories- I am seeing my industry (Charity sector) in trouble on the news and failing to see the promised support for DH's self employed business in new teachnologies.

MarthaQuest · 17/07/2010 11:12

I voted Lib dem and am very disappointed so far witl almost everything they have done.

SanctiMoanyArse · 17/07/2010 11:13

Oh and I am diguysted by LD policies in teh colation Gov wrt to DLA modifications becuase they promised me they wouldn't go for it.

Had I voted for a national Gov, as opposed to local MOP< would be incredibly unhappy

SanctiMoanyArse · 17/07/2010 11:14

'The Guardian advocated getting rid of Labour and now it pretends it is back on the side of the people

changing your mind does not = hypocrisy

claig · 17/07/2010 11:22

I think flip-flopping so quickly is hypocrisy. Did these clever middle class Oxbridge educated Guardian journalists not see what was coming? The working class Labour voters knew what was coming. Someone somewhere in Guardian HQ is having a laugh.

SanctiMoanyArse · 17/07/2010 11:27

No I don' think it is

You make a decision, see the results, evaulate and change your mind

That's intellifgent, not hypocritical

claig · 17/07/2010 11:36

The Guardian made a decision to back the LibDems, saw the result that Labour was defeated and were pleased, evaluated that they better pretend that they were back on the people's side so that they could carry on fooling and changing Labour voters' minds.

Credit to them, it was intelligent, they acarried out their plan, but I think it was duplicitous

maybe it is not a done deal yet. I heard a Tory minister blaming the Daily Mail for scare stories last night on Any Questions

claig · 17/07/2010 12:47

Boris Johnson was on the news opposing it, but how far that will get is anyone's guess

The Tories aren't getting rid of bus passes.

The current (Labour) plan is that from now until 2020 the age of eligibility for free bus passes will rise from 60 to 65. As part of the spending review process, the Department of Transport was examining the possibility of bringing the 2020 date a bit earlier - but has almost certainly decided against doing so.

Giddyup · 17/07/2010 12:55

I voted Lib Dem as Labour were a wasted vote here. Now wish I had voted Labour as usual, at least my conscience would be clear then
