Sorry for being thick and ignorant but I am ashamed to say that I do not know the difference between different christian faiths. I have not listed them all, I would really appreciate it if you could tell me. I was just reading the thread about the person new to christianity and I suddenly thought that I dont know the difference. I have always felt too embarassed to ask anyone in case they go "duh"

The different denominations of Christianity are because different groups of people disagree on values, sometimes based on social preference, traditional values, and what the bible means. The bible should be what determines what a church believes and how it acts, because it is the word of God. By not believing this fact you undermine some of the bible, yet believe some of what it says, which makes your religion/denomination of Christianity more complicated. Other denomination believe the bible completely, yet disagree on some of what it means, however, i think that the most sensible, bible believing, straight forward, God-centred denominational statement of faith is that of the reformed baptists.
