I'd like a pentagram tattoo on my wrist.

MisterAlestorm · 07/10/2009 09:26

@Belaran - It used to matter a lot.

The CoA has a quite weird history and they used to be very against the PF. At one point you couldn't even ask about it on their forums - that was enough to get you banned. But I've heard there have been a lot of changes, so maybe that kind of bad feeling has gone now. Maybe just not mentioning it is still the best thing though.

beldaran · 07/10/2009 10:00

Well i joined the PF at the same time as CoA, so technically i wasn't a member of any other "group" at the time. And it is something that i have never felt the need to mention on renewal.

Not mentioning it is probably the best way, like i said i only really use it for local news and bits of info about events etc.

I don't really venture into the forums too much, i'm not a very confident poster.... it took me a while to start posting on here!

Chillo - that sounds really nice, i have 3 stars on my left wrist and a dragon on my back. I would love another maybe on my ankle.

MisterAlestorm · 07/10/2009 11:21

Yeah. Probably best not to mention it. And I wouldn't bother with the CoA forums. They're not exactly the most intelligent place to discuss that kid of stuff on the web, and seem aimed mostly at teenagers.

ChilloHippi · 08/10/2009 17:48

I like stars.

teameric · 16/10/2009 10:49

Hi, another wiccan mum here! I'm a solitary too.
I've just been reading through your posts, ChilloHippi I know of the shop you mean in Eltham, have seen it often when we visit SIL but have never been in there will have a look next time!
I usually buy my stuff online, or I like Mysteries and neals yard remedies in Covent Garden.
You all sound like me I was brought up CoE but discovered paganism and wicca in my late teens and it just felt "right" to me.
I'm lucky to have a supportive DH too, he's very open minded.
I have a septagram tattoo (fairie star)on my right wrist and am hoping to get more!
glad I found this thread.
Blessed Be

PurpleOne · 20/10/2009 03:16

Lapsed solitary Wiccan here too.

Was brought up CofE but got into things around the age of 15 or 16.
I don't practice all that much, but I do like to light candles in a salt circle on the Sabbats, and make a nice meal.

Merry meet one and all.

bettywobble · 22/10/2009 19:34

I just thought I'd pop by and see if this thread was still active, and it's nice to see a couple more people here. Merry meet

Iklboo · 23/10/2009 14:42

Merry Meet Chillo

How is evryone now we're coming to the thin end of the year? Samhain next week (coincides with my wedding anniversary weekend) and we're going to the parade in Edinburgh by the Beltane Society. I can't wait!

TAFKAtheUrbanDryad · 23/10/2009 14:46

Is anyone going to Avebury or Stonehenge for Samhain?

bettywobble · 23/10/2009 19:08

Us too Iklboo! So excited!

Woodelf · 25/10/2009 14:35

Merry meet everyone! Samhain is nearly upon us and I have to say I haven't seen such a lovely autumn in a long time. Will be strange now the clocks have gone back - I just love this time of year when the veil between the worlds is thin!

MrsSaxon · 25/10/2009 17:12

Best time of the year! The air feels all sparkly, what are everones plans for Saturday?

teameric · 25/10/2009 17:17

My favourite part of the year too! It's such a magical time IMO.
I'll be spending Saturday with my family the kids want a party!

Iklboo · 26/10/2009 14:06

This is an odd question - but does anyone else start having stranger than normal dreams at this time of year?
I've been dreaming about children with strong powers and walking through a misty wood where I can hear voices all around. In the dream I am very excited and lookibg forward to reaching the voices. The dream feels like I'm in the distant past. I've had these dreams 3 or 4 times over the past week

Snowtiger · 26/10/2009 14:15

Hi everyone, and welcome to new members!

My dreams have been getting very vivid and verging on troubling for a little while. We spent the past week in a lovely cottage in the Lake District, in a beautiful and magical spot. My dreams were all very strong, vivid and going over things I've done in the past that, while not terrible, probably caused (unintentional) hurt to others. I had a strong sense that I had to ask forgiveness and then (in visualisation) throw all of the baggage, hurt and resentment in the river outside the cottage's door. This helped, but now I'm home I'm still feeling as if there's work to be done.

I get the feeling that I've got stuff to clear, baggage to get rid of in order to move forward into the next chapter of my life (DC2 due in April, for a start, not to mention all sorts of inner conflict about working / being a writer that I shan't bore you with now!).

Anyone got any good ideas for ways I can do this that don't take long? A ritual or spell that helps you to clear old stuff from yourself, your spirit and your subconscious? When I say something that doesn't take long, I don't mean that I want a 'short cut' because I know there's no such thing, but realistically with a toddler I dont' have a lot of time to myself. All suggestions gratefully received.

Probably not coincidentally, I've got a spa day booked (heaven! What a treat! First one since DS - age 2 - was born!) on Saturday so I will be spending Samhain on my own, doing something healing for myself.

Perhaps I've just answered my own question... but still, ideas for cleansings / ridding yourself of baggage and finding forgiveness for past actions really gratefully received.

Ripeberry · 26/10/2009 14:24

Hi, can I join? I'm not a practicing Wiccan but I'm very interested in everything about it, especially anything to do with nature and the seasons and I like anything to do with native cultures such as the Native Americans and Jungle tribes.
I know there are a few groups around my area, but I've too 'shy' to join them as I don't really know enough .
This half-term we are having Halloween in the middle of a field in the middle of Wales in a Yurt!
At least there won't be any trick or treaters!

beldaran · 26/10/2009 14:31

Hi Snowtiger,

I tend to find this visualisation quite helpful, it can take as long or as little as you like.

Begin meditation as you like (candles, incense or even in the bath).

Visualise walking through a forest and in the distance you hear the sound of a softy running river. Walk towards the water and when you are ready walk into the water and lie down in it. As the water runs over you, imagine all your troubles and concerns wash away with the water. I tend to imagine the water clean and icy, refreshing in other words.
When you feel refreshed and all your troubles have left you, leave the river and sit on the banks to reflect.

If you want you can always say an affirmation or ask for blessings in the next chapter of your life.

I'm sure there are plenty of others that you can try, but this one is my personal favourite.
