Yes please do. I have often thought of asking if there were any fellow Wiccans on MN, but daren't. I'm glad you did though

PortBlacksandResident · 27/09/2009 22:10

Brightest Blessings to you Both .

Disenchanted3 · 28/09/2009 19:25

Evening

I had a right carry on today! My SIL told me of a spirtulist shop near us and we spent an hour walking round trying to find it and when we finally did it had closed down!

I'm trying to get a few bits together but not having much luck!

Think I will have to try ebay

Ebay is quite good for getting bits, I've found. Spell candles are much cheaper there than in the shops. I like the 10cm beeswax ones.
There is a lovely Wiccan shop in Eltham, SE London that I can recommend if you are anywhere near there.

Disenchanted3 · 29/09/2009 08:12

No I'm in Manchester unfortunatly!
I was looking at those candles yesterday will get them on your reccomendation

They're good candles. I put them in a little glass candle holder (I got mine from Ikea), with a little coloured sand (Ikea again) to hold them up.

Ooh, excited to find this thread - not sure if I'm a fully fledged Wiccan but have always felt naturally drawn to the Craft and think, if anything, I'm a bit of a solitary kitchen witch! Just ordered a lovely book about solitary work from Amazon, can't wait for it to turn up, then just need to find time between 2 year old DS and pregnancy tiredness to read it!
Wonderful to find like-minded (and spirited) souls on MN, thanks for the thread, Disenchanted

Disenchanted3 · 29/09/2009 10:06

Same here Snowtiger, I'm reading 'The solitary Practitioner' at the moment, I was raised Catholic but would read Wicca books at the library from 11!

Its only recently Ive started to look into it properly.

Its a bit daunting though at times!

Hello.

ChilloHippi · 29/09/2009 12:07

Lol Snowtiger, I find that having a two year old does get in the way of my own interests too

Snowtiger · 29/09/2009 12:13

It's hard isn't it? Probably why solitary work is right for us just now!
Managed to get out into the garden at the weekend (which always makes me feel sane again after a tough week) and sorted out my herb bed so I feel not just sane but also faintly witchy again! Can't wait to get making herb oils and lavender / hop bags for everyone's Christmas presents (whether they want them or not!). The joys of autumn eh? I love this time of year.

Iklboo · 29/09/2009 12:22

Same here too Snowtiger. I've always been drawn to 'the old ways' since I was a child. It's nice to find a thread about it - thanks Disenchanted

ChilloHippi · 29/09/2009 12:25

Yes indeed I've just inherited a lavender plant which needs some tlc, but I have a lovely rosemary. Can I make bags from that? I've never done it before. I have muslin I could use.

Disenchanted3 · 29/09/2009 12:27

Its a little tough for me as DH is rather flippant and well, piss taking about it all.

My SIL is also beginning to practise too but she takes a very different view and direction to wicca than me and I find it difficult to converse with her about it!

OP posts:
Iklboo · 29/09/2009 12:30

I'm lucky DH is supportive and says he's proud of me when I tell his rellies. Although one of his cousins is a teacher and questions me endlessly about it at get-togethers (Have you done any spells lately? Have they worked?)

ChilloHippi · 29/09/2009 12:31

Well now you have got a few of us here to chat about it with
I think Spirit and Destiny magazine have a website with forums to chat, but I haven't looked myself.

Disenchanted3 · 29/09/2009 12:38

I'm glad

I told my sister and she laughed and said 'you're sooo wierd' and pulled on my crystal i was wearing, but shes only 15 and didn't mean it nastily.

Can I ask how you began? I hear its pretty hard to join a coven and in all honesty I don't want to but am wondering what you did to start to make yourself feel Wiccan?

I've been reading up on dedication rituals but don't want to be so bold as to having my first ever physical practice be one of dedication, lol, I'd like to start a litle smaller.

I've started to greet the Godess at night and The God in the mornings and doing little chants whenever I'm anxious to calm myself but thats about it.

I was planning on having some tools by now but am still looking

OP posts:
Disenchanted3 · 29/09/2009 12:40

Yes, my SIL is all about 'online'. Shes joined an online coven and is doing courses and such, which is great for her but no so much for me.

OP posts:
Disenchanted3 · 29/09/2009 12:41

Your DH sounds great Iklboo, mine is supportive in theory but when ever I talk about it openly he looks like this

OP posts:
ChilloHippi · 29/09/2009 12:59

Dis, that's what my DH does too!
I can't honestly remember exactly when or how I got interested, but I think it grew from an interest that I had (and still have) in crystals. One year I went with a friend to WitchFest, which was AMAZING!
I'm certainly not ready to join a coven either. I prefer to wander around Wicca on my own, IYKWIM.
I keep meeting fellow Wiccans everywhere. I have met a few through Freecycle, and this morning I realised that a lady that runs a group I go to is one too, so that's nice. It makes me feel safe and like I can be myself.

ChilloHippi · 29/09/2009 13:03

And this is my favourite all-time CD.
