ZipadiSoozi, you'd asked if there's professional help available for most people with an ASD. Nope. None. Not a bit. Nothing. We're not mentally ill, we're not 'learning disabled', so there's no services available for us, even though it's as common as wheelchair use and as disabling for many of us (though in a different way, of course).

It's why 85% of us have no proper job, and why 40% have no friends, and why most us live in poverty, and why a huge number end up so stressed-out by the lack of help that we get depressed or anxious and can cope with even less than before. The best we can hope for is that if we tell some service that we're ASD, they won't actively exclude us . I normally have to tell each service what to do first, then see if they'll do it. Easier to just do it myself, in a way...

Luckily (?) I'm helping the government to change this. Well, hopefully. We'll see.

Prayers continuing for everyone here, as ever

MaryBS · 11/03/2009 13:05

I would agree with that Amber. Often, if I'm feeling stressed and anxious about something, if I then have to tell somebody new, its an extra layer of stress and anxiety while I wait to see how they are going to react.

This is why God plays such a huge part in my life, because I know he loves me no matter what, and I don't HAVE to tell him anything because he knows me inside and out, and I know he'll NEVER misunderstand what I say, so if I say it "wrong", he knows what I mean.

notsofarnow · 11/03/2009 13:06

prayers please dd is being threatened by a gang of lads possibly 50 because she was at a party on sat night that got out of hand and invaded by said 50 and police were called. As my dd was one of 2 that were not drunk she gave names to police and is now labelled as a gras.

She has refused to go to school today and as result me and xdh have been in to try and sort problem. She has a fantastic head of yr that will take no messing she is going to do what she can today and we have to go in at 6p.m to see what has been achieved. Like she said she can almost guarantee that nothing will happen to her whilst on school grounds but cannot guarantee her safety beyond that.

I think its just mighty sad that we live in a society where we have to take these childish threats seriously. She is scared witless and i'm flipping annoyed.

amber32002 · 11/03/2009 13:27

NSFN, goodness me....that's awful. She's a heck of a brave young lady to do this. Very impressed with her. Will keep you all in prayer...

PandaG · 11/03/2009 13:37

praying NSFN.

is God's Gang again tonight - and I am leading it without the backup of the old leader for the first time. Have got some ideas together, just need to fine tune them. PLease pray that I hear God for it, and that DS stays on task - he went off on a massive tangent the other week and drove DH and I mad!

lottiejenkins · 11/03/2009 14:06

NSFN I think your dd is very couregous(sp) Its sad that people can threaten other people! I hope the school can sort something out!

Sorry bad day here, but I'll catch up with you all tomorrow!

but... thank you God for a lovely sunny day!

BouncingTurtle · 12/03/2009 06:36

Sorry have been thinking and praying for you all but have been very very busy - I'm doing an accreditation course atm for a call centre job I hope to be doing. I should finish it and do the exam today, hopefully!
I got stressed and upset yesterday, I've be dropping catalogues for my eco business and I've lost a few because people thoughtlessly bin them instead of putting them back on the doorstep. Pray that I should learn more patience and to not take it as a personal insult!

CaptainDippy · 12/03/2009 07:52

Payers for that BT - tell me mroe about your business, I am intrigued!!

Praying for those situations MJIM; but don't get too impatient sweetie - children don't work on our timeframe; every child is different. Don't stress, take things as thye come & all will be well. My DD2 was over 3 when she moved into a big girl bed and my DD1 is over 5 and still in nappies at night. xx

Wow, you DD is brave. Prayers for her nsfn. xx

Prayers for God's Gang Panda. xx

Prayer appreciated for my DH who is having his toenail removed this am. He is very nervous, bless him. Have to be at hospital at 9.30. Thank you

xx

PandaG · 12/03/2009 08:03

morning all!

prayers for patience for me please. DS was a right pain at God's Gang last night, DH very nearly sent him to bed before it was over! Is DD's birthday today, and DS can't sem to celebrate with her but is comparing her presents to what he got on his birthday. We had a fab parents' evening the other night - at school he is kind, patient, mature etc., but just does not show it at home. Aaaaaargh.

anyway, enough about me, praying for you all. x

DutchOma · 12/03/2009 09:48

Praying for all of you and some more. Hope toenail is gone CD, will be at least when you read this post.

sorry to hear tht ds was a pain last night and hasn't snapped out of it this morning.

Happy Birthday Panda's dd, hope you have a wonderful day and take no notice of you (big?) brother. Boys eh?

Best of luck with the exam BT and sorry to hear about your lost catalogues. Any chance of knocking on the door asking for them back?
Might be an opening for some business, if you explain how it works.

Can I please ask for prayers again for OJ. Things are still very hard for her, 9 months after her dh's death.

Notquitegrownup · 12/03/2009 11:58

Aw Panda - total sympathy. I have been helping out at Sunday School and Ds2 has a real problem when I am leading. He's lively at the best of times, but he clearly finds it very threatening when I am in charge and he is not the centre of my attention. It is hard when they are on home territory too. My boys have always played fantastically at other kids houses, but play up when at home - they get totally overexcited. Prayers that you will find a solution. Sending him to bed sounds drastic, but you can talk about how he was last night and threaten it for next time - you would probably only need to ever do it once to make a huge impact on him!

Morning all! God bless.

BouncingTurtle · 12/03/2009 12:49

Aww Panda, sorry to hear DS was being a pain, I'm sure all kids do this!

Captain Dippy - I have two things on the go - one training to be a self employed call centre operative working from home (CAT me if you are interested and want my details!) and the other is being a distributor for a company selling eco friendly products
Feel free to get this post deleted if you don't think I should link to my ad, it does feel a bit norty to me

DutchOma - I've knocked on pretty much all of them. Dh has offered to do the ones I didn't get an answer at.

BouncingTurtle · 12/03/2009 12:50

Oh forgot to mention, I passed!! Praise God!

BouncingTurtle · 12/03/2009 13:41

Oh, I am praying for Lackadaisycal today... she is hospital having a procedure under GA. Praying that it all goes well, she recovers quickly and her DS2 doesn't miss her too much (he is bf so she had to express gallons for DH to feed him overnight!).

CaptainDippy · 12/03/2009 14:36

Cheeky BT Prayers for LD, hope all goes well for her.

DH is fine, sitting up in bed now eating chocolate muffins. He was a very brave little boy! Thank you for prayers. xx

Not enough time to post properly atm but thankyou lovely ladies situation with dd seems to have sorted itself with fantastic head of yr and two trips to school yesterday. So continued prayers that her anxiety levels about all this stay where they are thhis evening and that she realises that one person stiring can make it seem that literally 50 lads are after you when the reality is that majority of them were to stoned to remember who she is anyway. Will catch up more soon but doing a course for new job and have to revise yet for tomorrow and have a teaching session to do which will be assessed.

DutchOma · 13/03/2009 11:06

Have we actually heard what the job is NSFN? I may have missed it?

Swaliswan · 13/03/2009 11:51

Ooooooo, congrats Belgian bun!

I just wanted to pop on quickly and tell you a little MN related story that has got me praising God.

I've been looking for a Phil and Teds for a while because it seems to be the most practical option for carting DD and DC2 around (who is still staying put nicely, BTW!). I keep putting off buying one because they are expensive so I've been constantly on ebay and the local freead sites to try and find one for a good price. I was doing my usual trawl of the internet this morning when I had an overwhelming urge to go and check the 'for sale' threads on MN. I have missed out on here before because I haven't been quick enough. Anyway, a regular had posted about her P+T being for sale less than 10 minutes before I saw the advert. The pushchair is being sent on monday It really is an answer to prayer and to think that we nearly caved in and bought a new one last night that we really couldn't afford. Oh, and the curates wife has said that she is going to give us her cocoon when we were talking about looking for one the other day as she no longer needs it

Thank-you Lord for providing for us x
