Christian Prayer thread for late Autumn - keep praising when the leaves are falling and it isn't Christmas

A week or so ago there was a post in the prayer thread from TinkerbellesMum which I quote here in full because I think she has something important to say:

"I don't normally post in this section or this thread, but I wanted to share something that my sister's Pastor said a few months ago at a Dedication because on a regular basis I'm logging into MN and seeing it come to truth again and again.

He said that the devil has started an attack on children.

If you look through this year you will see so many children have died in really horrible circumstances, we've not seen anything like this happening before.

Please when you pray can you include our children in general, ask God for His protection over our own, each others' and the unknown child. Ask for Him to send His angels to fight against this attack."

We've only got to remember Baby P to know that terrible things are happening and that the only weapon we have against the forces of darkness is prayer. That is a strong weapon and a weapon that will bring results for the safety and security of our own children but also as TM says "the unknown child".
So can I encourage you all to praise God for our children and to set side a few moments to ask His protection on them, but also to pray protection over the millions of children which don't have the quality of life that they should have.

We then pray for our unborn children:- Swaliswan's, Boffinmum's and of course Tinkerbellesmum's own baby. Also for the other children in those families.

We remember those with health problems:
Belgianbun's sister recovering from an operation. OJ who goes to hospital on Monday to have a lump investigation - please God, no more trouble.
Zipadisuzy's dh who fell off a ladder and has cracked ribs and for Suzy who is picking up his workload.
NSFN struggling with depression, praying that this will not continue all winter.
And we give thanks for M44's ds2 who is on the mend but pray for dd1 who is still struggling with a broken arm.

We pray for those who are struggling with various issues:- CaptainDippy, Peachy, FAQ (praying that her babysitting problems can be resolved to enable her to continue as church organist) and CaptainCaveman.

And so to all of us who are part of this small community and who will always pray for one another:- MaryBS (continued prayer for BIL and MIL), Amber, Jentlydoesit (good news at the eye hospital) Myjobismum (good news about ds's behaviour at preschool), NowWeAreFour (continued prayer as requested for her nanny, PandaG and NotQuiteGrownUp (will she ever?)
Also we remember RevJustabout in her work with the Reluctant Worshippers.
And so we come before our Heavenly Father Who hears all our prayers and answers them in His own way. Thanks be to God

hello, can add request for prayers please? For BF who lost her 2 year old daughter last year and is still suffering terribly. For the family and friends of the 13 year old girl at church who died of a genetic condition last week. And for the six year old boy killed in front of his parents in Mumbai. Love and blessings to you all XXXX

DutchOma · 08/12/2008 13:13

Oh rosbif, thank you for sharing. Such a lot of grief in the world, how good we know we have a Father in Heaven who shares our grief and comforts us. Losing a child is just so incredibly hard.

Another text from NSFN - her DD is being scanned at 1:45. NSFN has said she herself has been signed off by the Dr for another month.

Those cases are really sad, rosbif... praying...

rosbif · 08/12/2008 13:43

thanks for all your prayers. Hope and pray that NSFN's daughter is okay, God is at her side.

JentlyDoesIt · 08/12/2008 17:43

Many prayers for NSFN and Rosbif, so very sad and really hoping NSFN's DD is ok.

Dippy - I had plenty to share, but the eggs have gone a bit rubbery - how about some home made pumpkin cake? I made too much pumpkin pie filling, so chucked some flour in and shoved it in a cake tin, then baked for the same time as the pie - it is YUM!

MaryBeWaiting · 08/12/2008 17:44

Last update was that scan showed nothing, and NSFN was waiting to see the Dr... that was a couple of hours ago, nothing since... am praying...

amber32002 · 08/12/2008 18:03

Thank you to all for your prayers. Really appreciated. Feeling very tired but at least I had the chance to go to London with a friend today to look at church architecture, which took my mind off things.

Prayer anew for everyone here as I read through.

CaptainDippy · 08/12/2008 18:23

Glad you were ale to distract yourself a little amber Cont to pray.

ZipadiSuzy · 08/12/2008 20:05

sorry ROSBIF

ZipadiSuzy · 08/12/2008 20:10

Prayers for a family down the road, their dd and dh, a lovely family. Just felt faint and died there and then! family distraught, they were all there, which is in a way nice. He was a gentle man, always smiling, always helpful and chatty to anyone, never judged people or had a bad word to say, always shared happiness.

SwalisWantsaPeacefulChristmas · 08/12/2008 22:03

I've not had time to catch up on today's posts but I thought that I'd come and let you all know that my 20 week scan went well today. All was well with bean and my consultant appointment went well. I've even been told that I can give birth on the birthing unit rather than labour ward if I wanted to as long as I can get to 37 weeks this time. Bean had similar proportions to DD - a slightly small head, a huge tummy and short legs!

I also managed to go back to work today after about two months off for severe morning sickness and keeping on fainting. My day went rather well although I was very molly coddled so we'll have to see how things go tomorrow. I feel much better mentally just for going back to work and feeling like I've managed to contribute to society.

Sorry to post and run but I really need to go to bed so that I can manage to go to work two days in a row

CaptainDippy · 08/12/2008 23:04

So for that family down the road Soooz. praying for them at this difficult time. xx

Hello SS Good to "see" you - soooo pleased scan went well & you are managing to go back to work You go girl!!

DutchOma · 09/12/2008 08:53

That's very good news SS.
Dippy, what were you doing out of bed at 23.04? Eh? Stern Oma look.

Sooz, what a lovely road you live in. I am sorry that so many of your neighbours have died over the last year, but you all seem to know each other well, which is so unusual these days.

Could I ask for prayer for ds2 please? He has to go to the dentist for a filling this afternoon at 2.40 and is terrified of dentists. If he doesn't let her do the filling she may refer him to have work done under a general anaesthetic, which we really don't want unless he really has to. Prayers please for wisdom for me to say the right things to him, that he would experience calm in the chair, that he will let her do what she needs to.

MaryBeWaiting · 09/12/2008 12:29

Update from NSFN - is waiting with DD to go into theatre, sometime after 2pm, suspected appendix.

Praying for calm for DS2 and for you to find the right words NQGU...

Notquitegrownup · 09/12/2008 12:33

Thanks Mary. On reflection, he needs more than calm. He needs a bit of a miracle to happen. Prayers that our dentist might be able to bring it about (with a little help from above too!)

NSFN - praying for you and your dd.

mufti · 09/12/2008 14:00

pryaing for ds2 to be a brave boy , NQGU, can you promise him a treat for later , so he has something to think about and look forward to while its happening, perhaps they could have some of his music on, take a cd in?

Have heard from NSFN. Apparently op has been postponed to 8pm tonight...

Notquitegrownup · 09/12/2008 16:35

Thank you, thank you, thank you, Lord. He did magnificently. (Very proud mummy emoticon) He cried all of the way there (and he didn't even know he was going for a filling!). But we talked about Jesus taking away his scared feelings and looking after him whilst he was there, and we said a prayer together. So, clutching two teddies outside the dentist we blew out (exhaled) all of his scared feelings into my hands, and I threw them away!

Off to Amazon now to choose a new playstation game, as a prize!! Sooo worth it though. This time last year, he wouldn't even let the dentist look in his mouth!

Mary, if you are texting NSFN, do send lots of love from me. I am thinking/praying for her and her dd.

DutchOma · 09/12/2008 16:40

Yes, send her my prayers and love too, Mary. Thinking of her and dd.

What a star your ds2 is NQGU, no wonder you are very pleased.

CaptainDippy · 09/12/2008 17:28

Praying that nsfn's DD's op goes ahead tonight and all is well asap. Thank you for updates. xx

Notquitegrownup · 09/12/2008 19:01

Noooo, not inspirational. I just remembered to pray properly about it this time - and to ask you lot to too!
