Christian Prayer thread for late Autumn - keep praising when the leaves are falling and it isn't Christmas

A week or so ago there was a post in the prayer thread from TinkerbellesMum which I quote here in full because I think she has something important to say:

"I don't normally post in this section or this thread, but I wanted to share something that my sister's Pastor said a few months ago at a Dedication because on a regular basis I'm logging into MN and seeing it come to truth again and again.

He said that the devil has started an attack on children.

If you look through this year you will see so many children have died in really horrible circumstances, we've not seen anything like this happening before.

Please when you pray can you include our children in general, ask God for His protection over our own, each others' and the unknown child. Ask for Him to send His angels to fight against this attack."

We've only got to remember Baby P to know that terrible things are happening and that the only weapon we have against the forces of darkness is prayer. That is a strong weapon and a weapon that will bring results for the safety and security of our own children but also as TM says "the unknown child".
So can I encourage you all to praise God for our children and to set side a few moments to ask His protection on them, but also to pray protection over the millions of children which don't have the quality of life that they should have.

We then pray for our unborn children:- Swaliswan's, Boffinmum's and of course Tinkerbellesmum's own baby. Also for the other children in those families.

We remember those with health problems:
Belgianbun's sister recovering from an operation. OJ who goes to hospital on Monday to have a lump investigation - please God, no more trouble.
Zipadisuzy's dh who fell off a ladder and has cracked ribs and for Suzy who is picking up his workload.
NSFN struggling with depression, praying that this will not continue all winter.
And we give thanks for M44's ds2 who is on the mend but pray for dd1 who is still struggling with a broken arm.

We pray for those who are struggling with various issues:- CaptainDippy, Peachy, FAQ (praying that her babysitting problems can be resolved to enable her to continue as church organist) and CaptainCaveman.

And so to all of us who are part of this small community and who will always pray for one another:- MaryBS (continued prayer for BIL and MIL), Amber, Jentlydoesit (good news at the eye hospital) Myjobismum (good news about ds's behaviour at preschool), NowWeAreFour (continued prayer as requested for her nanny, PandaG and NotQuiteGrownUp (will she ever?)
Also we remember RevJustabout in her work with the Reluctant Worshippers.
And so we come before our Heavenly Father Who hears all our prayers and answers them in His own way. Thanks be to God

Tummy bug appears to have gone but I have terrible nausea and am really sleepy today. I'm off to read a little bit of 'the shack' that a friend bought for me in a sec and then it will be bedtime. My MIL is having a very tough time atm with her (nearly ex) husband bringing a woman back to their house and generally being very awkward. I don't think that either of them realise just how much their house will have dropped in value since they put it on the market nearly two years ago and neither wishes to be the one to budge so they are no closer to getting their decree absolute. It is a very miserable time for her. I've told her that she has to come down here for Christmas as she has worked the past two years at Christmas. She seems to be looking forward to her DGC2 being born as well, especially as she may manage to get here for the birth (and support a very squeamish DH!).

DutchOma · 02/12/2008 21:31

That sounds very positive SS, I'm so glad. I know that you have not always found her very easy to get on with, so it's good that you can see her in a more positive light. I hadn't realised that she was going through a 'divorcement' as our children used to say.

Praying NSFN and CD... May God reveal his light in your darkness.

SS concentrate on getting well and never mind about work. You have a precious gift from God inside you, and you are also a precious gift of God TO your unborn child.

I had some good news tonight. I've met my new tutor before and LIKE her. One of the study books on our list I already have because its such a good book. Tutorial is near where I park for work, so I know where to go for that. In fact the whole module looks fascinating! So lots of things I don't have to worry about because I know how I feel about them already.

notsofarnow · 02/12/2008 21:43

no chance of hitting the sack any time soon dd needs picking up from her mcjob at 11.15 - not happy at that thought tbh.

SS if you don't get back to work then you don't its in Gods hands. Trust him for all thats to come - praying that the scan is good. If i'm awake at 4.a.m again tonight will definately be praying for you then too.

cd praying hun.

MaryBeWaiting · 02/12/2008 22:12

NSFN - if I'm awake then I might drop in, say "hi"... Look after yourself, you are valued and appreciated and most of all LOVED here...

Swaliswan · 03/12/2008 08:46

Thank-you for all of your prayers lovely ladies.

DO, my MIL has changed a lot over the course of her divorce settlement. Mainly because she has started going to church and has done the Alpha course. I think that our relationship has changed lots since having DD as well because I understand more of what she went through having DH and then having a baby on the neonatal unit. I've tried to keep in touch with her more as DH is rubbish at this and it seems to help lots. I've also learnt to take some of what she says/does with a pinch of salt!

Mary, I wish I knew what to do to get well then I would happily concentrate on doing that. In the meantime I'm just trying to not faint.

NSFN, I think that I woke up about 4am for a few minutes!

DutchOma · 03/12/2008 10:02

SS, what a blessing for you and your MiL. Praise God.
Praying for you that you will be able to relax today and not faint. Give your dd a big hug from me.

Glad to hear SOME things are improving CD...

NQGU - I'm now on the Doctrine module!

CaptainCaveman · 03/12/2008 21:09

Hello lovely ladies, sorry i appear to have been missing in action - I never seem to find a minute to get on this thread and post.

All well here, although we are all full of the cough/cold thing. Poor ds's have been unwell with temperatures etc. Dh seems to have escaped it though.

Did anyone else catch Oleta Adams on Loose Women (ITV programme) this lunchtime? I found it very uplifting how she was able to speak so openly about her faith and God in her life. It has inspired me to give it some serious thought. I am not making enough time to work on my relationship with God, and I plan to do something about it.

Praise God dsis is dry still (7 weeks) and dneice is doing well too. Praying this continues.

DutchOma · 03/12/2008 21:36

Is dniece still living with you?

OP posts:
MaryBeWaiting · 03/12/2008 22:24

Hi CCM {waves}, that sounds good news about Dsis. Long may it continue!

I'm a bad lady, I bunked off a PCC meeting and spent a lovely evening with DH, watching the Indiana Jones DVD, having a glass of wine and a cuddle .

whatdoidonext · 03/12/2008 22:28

MaryBeWaiting · 04/12/2008 07:08

ZipadiSuzy · 04/12/2008 13:02

Hia you lovely lot!

Mary - think I know which I'd have preferred, obviously you were lead, that serpent can sometimes work in our favour hey! good you are getting some precious time!

SS - Prayers for your sickness/fainting to subside, I remember sitting on peoples walls doing the school run when I was pregnant with twins, trying to avoid fainting, its rotten, I had it for the whole 9+ months, just take it easy! xx

CC - lovely to hear from you, continued prayers for your dsis and neic, glad they are well as can be expected.

CD - prayers for your tough time at home hang on in there! keep praying and communicating.

NSFN - continued prayers for you atm,

DO - love and prayers to this wonderful lady, who has boundless comforting words for everyone. xxxx

JentlyDoesIt · 04/12/2008 17:48

Hello ladies,

SS - many prayers for you to feel better soon. It must all be so tiring, on top of everything else.

CD - hope you are ok and not too cold in Dippyland. SIL says it's rather bracing on the south coast?!

Sooz - hey you, how are your trojan gee gee's?

This is going to sound weird but had a good day today I got made redundant! I accepted voluntary redundancy with a package that was more than I thought it would be seeing as I was planning to leave the company anyway, when my mat leave ended, this is really the best result I have also lost my first stone at Slimming world!

DutchOma · 04/12/2008 18:23

Well done Jen. Glad it works out alright for you.
