dh wants a wedding ring for xmas - he had his cut off 15 years ago - anyway this is v. much of a surprise to me.

dh is agnostic. so the blessing of the ring doesn't matter to him - mine is blessed

so do i go to back of church and ask priesty to bless the ring? dh isn't bothered and i don['t know if i am

i know its not important but any replies would help

You could dip it in a bit of holy water.

nickytwoooohtimes · 23/10/2008 10:30

If it doesn't matter to either of you, then no need to. I am loving the term weirdo catholics.

MrsMattie · 23/10/2008 10:33

Don't understand. Does it matter to you, is that it?

Tortington · 23/10/2008 10:37

im not sure if it matters to me or if it should - its not my ring

think i'll washit in some holy water as per cornsilks suggestion

Those Mary shaped holy water bottles do come in useful sometimes.

JJ · 23/10/2008 10:41

Do you have to bless wedding rings? I never knew that.

I think it's ok. But I'm not Catholic. I'm agnostic.

Am really just posting to say I never knew that wedding rings were blessed.

purplemonkeydishwasher · 23/10/2008 10:42

Agree it's what most non catholics think anyway.

MrsMattie · 23/10/2008 10:45

Do Catholics not have a sense of humour, then?

childrenofthecornsilk · 23/10/2008 10:45

You see, I read 'weirdo catholics' and just thought "ooh, a thread for me!"
Lets face it, we are a bit weird to those not used to genuflecting and invoking saints at the slightest provocation.

JJ · 23/10/2008 10:48

Next you'll be telling me Christmas is some sort of religious celebration.

nickytwoooohtimes · 23/10/2008 10:51

Don't be ridiculous JJ!

childrenofthecornsilk · 23/10/2008 10:52

LOL I am tempted!

I quite like it that Catholics have all these rituals and that aura of mystique
