Mumsnet Christian Prayer Thread for late summer

It's quite amazing how quickly the time goes. Looking back over the past six weeks there is not much that really lights up apart for the birth of Oliver Benjamin on the 1st August to Mr and CaptainCaveman and Tom. Praise God that all medical intervention went well and that Oliver was born safely and is feeding well
We pray for two other expected babies: Myjobismum's which is expected at the beginning of October and Swaliswan's who only just confirmed the pregnancy. Pray that all may go well, bearing in mind her miscarriage in February.

The weather this summer has not been very good and a lot of us have been on holiday and have struggled to a greater or lesser degree:- Soozy, Podmog, Dumbledoresgirl, Amber and Mary (who is still away).
We give thanks that Mary was not seriously hurt after an accident on her bike; also for her church placement in an immigration reception centre. Nearer the time this will need much prayer.

We pray for Weegiemum who suffers with frequent kidney stones and who has the additional difficulties in obtaining adequate pain relief.

We give thanks with Myjobismum for a much better prognosis for the baby of a young friend. Initially it was thought that the baby might have to spend months in hospital, the baby will still need a lot of care but it is now thought that it will be weeks rather than months.
We also pray for Henry,(thanks to StickyJ who flagged this up for us) who has had operations and is still very up and down and for the baby of Mascarpone's friend in New Zealand who is suffering from trigonocephaly.
We pray for two other 'newbies' on the thread: longlegted and livvylouis.
We pray for Amber and Roseylea, Notquitegrownup and Notsofarnow, (prayers for dd, GCSE results and MRI scan results),Jentlydoesit, FAQ, Mufti and PandaG.
We give thanks with Marslady who managed to support the parents of two fatboys and twind, within the space of a week. we have seen real answers to prayer here.
We pray for those who have suffered bereavements: Onlyjoking, Evenstar and MartianBishop and we pray for Mummy2TandF on the coming first anniversary of her dh's death
Last but not least we hold up our own CaptainDippy who is still not in the right place healthwise and who is struggling in other ways as well. Lord, bring someone alongside her to guide her, support her, emotionally and practically and please Lord, make her aware of your loving presence.

We praise God for the ability to pray for one another in the certainty that He hears our prayers and deals with them in His infinite wisdom and compassion.

Thanks.

CaptainDippy · 27/08/2008 19:40

Quick post ...... just had a phone call from Mary who was just off to church to offer God her praise .... her DD was swept out to sea today; but was bravely rescued by 2 40-something ex-lifeguards who happened to be sat on the beach next to them (proper lifeguard was no where to be seen!!!!!) Praise God R was saved

DutchOma · 27/08/2008 19:48

Oh no, what a terrible shock, praise God that she was rescued.
Weegiemum, things must have been getting on top of you more than we thought, if you are now saying that you think you are not a very nice person. We'll all just pray that you will have an enjoyable visit to Ireland and that everything works out to the glory of God.

DO, you are very perceptive.

I read your post adn now I am sitting here in tears.

Things have been getting on top of me. I didn't realise till now. thanks for noticing. It means a lot.

www.oxford.anglican.org/files/documents/autism_guidelines_pdf.pdf

NQGU, I think that was my fault for not checking extra spaces in the link - oops! Try that one. Or go to Oxford Diocese website www.oxford.anglican.org/ and there's either a link on that front page, or in the search thingy put autism and then press "go" and it should list the document or the social responsibility "just care" pages and it's on there.

amber32002 · 28/08/2008 08:02

Praise God for the lifeguards for Mary's DD - what a shock for her.
Prayers continuing for everyone here, and all mentioned in the links.
Weegiemum, shall certainly be praying for your situation too. Rest, do something just for you each day, keep talking with us....

CaptainDippy · 28/08/2008 08:27

You are so perceptive DO. xx Oh, WM You are in my thoughts & prayers - do email me if you would like to - captain_dippy "at" yahoo "dot" co "dot" uk We are here for you. Like DO said, you've had a lot going on just recently. You need to be strengthened and renewed. xx

Weegiemum · 28/08/2008 08:38

there is definitely something up. not sure what. just SO tired, can't sleep, no motivation, and every time anyone says anything nice to me I cry.

I think I might be depressed again actually.

Bu tthen, I have good days where I am cooking and cleaning and looking after kids and even reading academic stuff while they are in school in preparation for my new course.

Its the sleep. As long as I sleep I am fine. If I dont - can't cope.

DutchOma · 28/08/2008 08:41

CvQ here is in need of our prayers.
The crises always happen in the night and will have resolved by this morning, so maybe we all need to hold her up in prayer before we go to sleep.

OP posts:
CaptainDippy · 28/08/2008 10:08

You sound like you understand the situation very well actually WM - sleep deprivation does crazy things to you head! Perhaps you should mention the low mood to your doc? Sending

DutchOma · 28/08/2008 10:48

CVQ feels she is even beyond the power of prayer. Maybe we could prove her wrong?

OP posts:
CaptainDippy · 28/08/2008 11:09

I hope so. No one is beyond the power of prayer.

CaptainCaveman · 28/08/2008 11:13

Praying for you WM, sleep deprivation is a form of torture! Good idea to mention it to your doc about low moods - even if the moods aren't there all the time? Having suffered from anxiety and depression myself, I find I am now very quick to run to the docs when I start to feel unwell - mainly because I know how low I have felt before and do not want to go there again, but also I know that meds really work for me (I also understand that they are not everyone's cup of tea! )

Praying too for your work situation Sooz - God will open another door for you very soon.

CD how are you feeling this week?

Praise God for Mary's daughter being ok, how very scary!

DO I must get round to emailing you a pic of ds2 in his blue cardies - he looks v cute! (Thank YOu xx)

prayers much appreciated for a postive outcome on the house viewing we had yesterday.

CaptainDippy · 28/08/2008 11:23

REALLY hoping one of those viewings turns into a sale for you guys CC. How's it going with your 3 boys!! I am ok, up and down ... you know how it is!!

Could you pray that my lovely friend M has her baby soon? She is 4 days over-due is covered in a rash and fed-up. Thank you!

CaptainCaveman · 28/08/2008 11:39

The boys are all well thanks CD, biggest boy being very helpful with both ds's so I praise God for that.

Ds1 told me he had a nightmare last night that God was talking to him but he couldn't hear what he was saying. I think ds is using the 'nightmare' excuse to get into our bed every night atm for a cuddle. I'm sure it's just down to him needing extra reassurance now that ds2 is here. I guess it must be hard for him especially when he sees O's cot right next to my side of the bed.

When does your eldest girlie start school? Tom goes in Jan, full time - how did my baby get so big??!!

CaptainDippy · 28/08/2008 11:49

Awww, he'll settle down once things are more established iykwim!!? My biggest girlie starts school on 22nd Sept - p/t til Christmas and then f/t after. We bought her uniform yesterday - sob!!

Weegiemum · 28/08/2008 11:57

M y littlest girl started about 2 weeks ago.

It is a huge wrench, but she is having a good time

(see profile pics for her starting!)

Weegiemum · 28/08/2008 11:58

CD - just looked at your profile (actually clicked on it by accident!)

Our fabby oldest dds have the same name!

mascarpone · 28/08/2008 12:35

DO - thank you very much for mentioning my friend's baby in your round up - it means a lot to know that others are praying for her and her family too.

Prayers for you all today.

DutchOma · 28/08/2008 13:24

How are they doing Mascarpone? Have you heard?

OP posts:
CaptainDippy · 28/08/2008 13:41

Yes Marscapone - was just thinking of them yesterday - any mroe news?? xx

Yes, they do indeed WM - what fabulous taste we have!!

CaptainDippy · 28/08/2008 13:42

...and my DH and I really liked (and still like) the name Rachel too!

Notquitegrownup · 28/08/2008 14:25

Woa Mary But how cool is our God, sitting two beefy ex-lifeguards next to you on the day you will need them!?!

DS1 was asking about your friend Marscapone - (he sometimes asks if there is anyone on the MN thread I would like him to pray for at bedtime, when we are getting ready for bedtime prayers! MN addict, moi?!)

God bless all.

CaptainDippy · 28/08/2008 14:43

nqgu!

Milliways · 28/08/2008 17:25

Hello everyone.

I seem to only ever post on here when needing prayer requests - sorry! Do lurk & pray for you, must post more often..

Anyway, please can I ask for prayers for the following:

A lady who has just buried her first, desperately long awaited baby who was just born too soon & put up a good fight but died last week.

My friend who has taken a break from chemo for the summer - that his consultant appt in Sept will be positive and that any future treatment will prove effective. Also, for strength for his wife.

My DH, who has been stitched up and left unemployed in a terribly unprofessional manner - that he will not get too despondant and will find new employment soon. Also, praise that he is out of a difficult working environment.

For all the kids (and their teachers) returning to school. Especially those with important exams, or new schools this year.

Thanks
