Welcome justabout, its no different from prayer in real life, really. And being all women (apart from Bobsdad who pops in occasionally), we offer practical advice too . Sort of like, if the 3 wise men had been 3 wise women, they'd have brought nappies, a casserole, and swept out the stable as well as worshipping our Lord

Oh Dippy, how difficult. Any idea why? Are they screaming at each other, at you, or jut screaming?

JentlyDoesIt · 08/07/2008 20:17

Hi all,

trying to get through a week without one of my children being poorly DS is on the mend thank goodness and DD is fine, got 2nd jabs on Thursday so fingers crossed and prayers that they don't affect her too badly.

LOL Mary - 3 wise women - so true!

Welcome to you Justabout

DO - how wonderful about that lady, fingers crossed she comes to church soon.

Podmog - prayers for your poorly head

Have booked DD's christening up with the new vicar (well new to me anyway) - he is lovely we had sea sunday this week (a week early as our sea cadets are on camp this week) and we sang "for those in peril on the sea" which made me cry as we had it our my grandad's funeral (both my maternal grandparents were in the Navy during WW2) - anyway I told the vicar this and he said I could help pick the hymns for the day of the christening! Am so excited!

JentlyDoesIt · 08/07/2008 20:18

Sorry Darling Dippy - must be difficult for you - like DO said, what or whom are they yelling at?

PurpleLostPrincess · 09/07/2008 01:13

OK, so I'm going to jump in - I know I should but its still hard...

I guess I'm backslidden and I really need prayer that the Holy Spirit will help me to get back on track with Him. I want to live my life the way God wants me to, to glorify Him; and I've recently come to realise that I'm full of excuses that the enemy is using as a foothold to stop it from happening. I go to a lovely church which I have always considered my family but due to some rather hurrendous happenings in my life I've not had much contact with my Christian friends and haven't been to church for about a year. Through all that has happened, so many people in the church have been praying for us and God has been truly amazing as always. I can elaborate on all of it another time but just wanted to ask for prayer for now really, I hope you don't mind! I get on the computer generally in the evenings for a while so I'll pop back tomorrow night or before if I can manage it and tell you more...

Thank you in advance - sorry I've not given you much to go on!

PLP xxx

DutchOma · 09/07/2008 07:59

Welcome PurpleLostPrincess. Just to say that God will be with you today, because He loves you. Whatever you do, or don't do, He loves you. And He will be sad that you are hurt. Look forward to hearing from you again.

MaryBS · 09/07/2008 08:25

PLP, praying for you. We all fall short from time to time, particularly when things are going badly. Its good you've had your church praying for you, and its good that you've recognised you want to 'get back on track'. God is always there for us, and if we can turn to him and say "look I'm still here", then it can make such a difference to our relationship with him, in terms of our spiritual recovery.

May God bless you and fill you with the light of his presence.

Any time you want to pop in here, you know you're always welcome.

CaptainCaveman · 09/07/2008 09:18

Thanks DO, I spent a good 30 mins in the middle of the night talking to God (was awake around 3.30!) and I do feel better for that. I bought a couple of books yesterday in the 'faith' shop, one a daily bible reading book and another by a lady called Patty Kirk 'Amatuer Believer'.

Welcome PLP and Justabout please do come back and share our fellowship - it really is the most wonderfully supportive place.

Praying that you all enjoy a calm peaceful day, bathed in the Love of Jesus.

Good morning all. Popping in to say hello.

Still toooo busy, but reading and praying if not posting much.

Welcome PLP and Justabout.

God bless.

CaptainDippy · 09/07/2008 10:39

Going to try and do a round up / new thread very soon

Only popping briefly as super busy - argh!

PLP - Sooooo good to "see" you here honey You've taken the 1st step .... willingness ..... God knows all the secrets of our hearts, scary I know, but comforting too. You cannot hide from Him .... so why not hide in Him. Cast your burdens onto Him because he cares for you. Praying for you .... and stick with us .... we're a bit mad, but we're a nice bunch really!! xx

Praying everything will be sorted with DS and pre-school MJIM - know how stressy and anxious these things can be. xx

Hello all - love and prayers.

Cough is worse Struggling to breathe I was sick at a pre-school committee meeting becasue of it last night Think I defintiely need to revisit dr tomorrow. Sigh. Thank you for prayers.

With the screaming thing, I am not sure what it is .... we have a bath, put PJs on, read stories or sing or do something nice and then the minute it is "tuck in and settle down" time, they start screaming their heads off. Even if we have prayers (which we don't always remember ) It is just horrid. I don't want them to go to bed upset or angy; but nicely and calmly. Am I asking too much!!?

"we read stories or sing or do something nice and then the minute it is "tuck in and settle down" time, they start screaming their heads off. "

{{{{{{{{hugs}}}}}}}}}} CD. Of course they scream their heads off! They have such a lovely time with you and then you say it has to stop! Have you tried the opposite - story downstairs, bath, milk or whatever, then a really quiet lead up to bedtime, with the curtains drawn, and only whispers and into bed once they are in their pyjamas? You can wind down, downstairs, then keep it very calm and quiet upstairs.

Not that we do that, of course!!! We do keep things quiet upstairs (and I had to ban ds1 from drawing at bedtime as it got his mind all active again) but we stayed and snuggled the boys to sleep until they were quite old - 7 or so. Even now ds1 prefers one of us to stay, but it's easier to be mean to/persuade/bribe an 8 year old!!

HTH. Hello everyone. Continued prayers for Nicola and all on this thread.

DutchOma · 09/07/2008 15:35

The trouble is of course that this screaming session comes at a time that you are least able to cope with it:- right at the end of a busy day. Could you have a talk with them and explain to them how upsetting it is for you to have them screaming every night. Ask them what they would do if they were the mummy? Can dh get through to them at all or is he not at home yet at bedtime?
Hope all goes well in the Dippy household tonight. What time does this 'drama' usually kick off?

DutchOma · 09/07/2008 16:21

Just had a text from Jentlydoesit to say that her laptop is not working at the moment and her telephone is a bit poorly too.
As far as I know they are all alright otherwise.

CaptainDippy · 09/07/2008 18:38

Thanks guys .... off to try it ......

Update on Nicole, slight improvement again today... please God may it continue

CD - definitely recommend making bed times quiet and wind down. Hope and pray you're feeling better soon.

Remember I asked for prayers re: my placement? The course directors were really open to my suggestion about doing a placement in an immigration reception centre chaplaincy, and that may mean I wouldn't have to be at a different church on Sundays as I could perhaps do my placement at a different time... please continue to pray on this, that whatever happens is the best for both me, my family, and the people I'll be ministering to...
