One Child a Day: Remembering Gaza’s Children

I’ll be using this thread to remember one child each day who has been killed in Gaza.

This isn’t for political debate, just a space to honour the names, faces, and stories that risk being lost in the noise. I’m here as I see this as a matter of human dignity and ethics, not just politics or conflict.

I kindly ask all political debate be kept to the many threads on the ‘conflict in the middle east’ board.

I’ll post one child per day, with whatever information is available- name, age, photo if possible, a sentence about who they were. Please feel free to follow quietly or respond with a candle 🕯️ or heart 💔.

If anyone else would like to post a child a day to remember, please feel free. I ask that posts stick to verified information, keep the tone respectful, and focus on remembrance rather than politics.

Cause of death: Killed in a missile strike on her family’s tent. Her mother also died.

🕊️ Habiba Al-Qadr (age 8)

Age: 8 years old
Location: Gaza Strip
Date of death: October 14, 2023
Cause of death: Died of wounds sustained in a bombing; treated without anesthetics

Legacy: Habiba, lovingly called “Snow White,” was a creative and joyful child who always carried her brush and paints. Just minutes before the bombing, she was drawing/painting.

🕯️ Juri Ramadan Lafi (age 4)

Age: 4 years old
Location: Al-Mawasi, west of Khan Younis, Gaza Strip
Date: 27 August 2025
Cause of death: Killed by an airstrike that hit displaced persons’ tents.

Cause of death: Killed alongside her father in a strike; her mother was injured and died a few days later. She was an only child.

I am absolutely in agreement that all children killed in Gaza, including Israeli children, should be remembered on this thread.

However, This post contains factually incorrect information about the perpetrators of the October 7 attack on Kibbutz Be’eri. It attributes blame to all Palestinians, when the attack was carried out specifically by Hamas militants. The phrasing could mislead readers and incite prejudice against civilians who were not involved.

Cause of death: Killed in a shooting targeting aid seekers in Wadi Gaza.

🕯️ Said Marash (age 15)

Location: Rafah, Gaza Strip
Date: August 24, 2025
Cause of death: Shot dead at an aid distribution point.

🕯️ Saba Issam Maadi
Age: Not specified
Location: Al Mawasi, Khan Yunis, Gaza Strip
Date: August 24, 2025
Cause of death: Killed in a bombing of a displaced persons tent.

🕯️ Abd Al-Karim Al-Safadi (aged 8 months)

Location: Nuseirat, Gaza Strip
Date: October 31, 2023
Cause of death: Killed in an airstrike on the Engineer’s Building, a shelter for displaced families. One of 54 children killed in the strike. Eyewitnesses reported that Abd Al-Karim was among the children who were playing outside when the attack occurred.

Cause of death: Killed in the bombing of a bakery. Over a dozen people, mostly children, were killed.
