What’s the craziest thing you’ve seen God do?

If you’re a Christian, like a miracle or breakthrough, or even maybe someone encouraged you with exactly what you needed to hear and you know it was God… all those sorts of things… I wanna hear!

Well he makes thunder, lightning and storms with his hammer. That's pretty epic.

Or were you talking about one of the other 3000 or so gods?

I'm not religious and don't believe in an 'almighty' judging us all. Interestingly, my MH nurse suggested I volunteer at a local church. I popped in last night to say hello, told the minister that I didn't believe. He said he didn't, either!

What a strange choice of vocation for him 😅

😂 I appreciate this as a marvel fan

I didn’t mean to make everyone so angry 😂 but I do understand it. There’s so much awful beyond words stuff going on.

My experience of God though is not controlling or that he causes those things. I think they happen because he doesn’t control us - there are a lot of really really horrible people who claim to do things in the name of God as an excuse for their awfulness.

I don’t chant things, I don’t follow rules, I read the Bible as guidance and feel loved by God. I’ve prayed for people and seen them be healed so I just thought I’d see if anyone else had similar experiences.

I’m sorry so many of you are angry at this thread 🙈

Literally nobody is angry on this thread?

WonderingWhatsBest · 04/10/2024 13:10

Yes, deliverance from demons

If not angry, definitely frustrated!

Perhaps not god as I wouldn't say I quite believe but do like to think myself as a little on a spiritual side but I do believe my guardian angel was looking out for me one day when I was about 19

Walking home from work and had been to the shops and had 2 large bags of shopping, stopped to put them down for a few seconds and check my phone and carried on walking and a car smashed into the front of a cafe right infront of me.

I know someone was watching out for me that day and I'll always be greatful 🙏

whiskeyarmadillo · 04/10/2024 13:28

To allow organised religion to oppress and harm women? To allow those that represent him to abuse so many children?

ScamanthaBrick · 04/10/2024 13:30

I’ve prayed for people and seen them be healed

If somebody has cancer, say, but nobody prays for them, and they still get better, how did they get better?

If people can heal without prayer how can you say that the prayer caused the healing?

And what’s the point of prayer for healing if people can heal without it?

Critical thinking required here…

TheCultureHusks · 04/10/2024 13:30

Oh dear this isn’t going to go well, but I need to know more about the leg

zeitweilig · 04/10/2024 13:33

Which of the gods are we referring to here?

Who is frustrated? You?
People are just being honest.

Not at all! That’s fine then - I appreciate honesty :)

I don't get why atheists have to come on to threads like these and try to spoil them. I'm not sure why atheists are even interested in the religion board, but in particular why click on a thread about God if you don't believe in God. Why can't people just live and let live?

KindOf · 04/10/2024 13:41

zeitweilig · 04/10/2024 13:33

Fair point. Turning yourself into a series of birds and animals to have sex with mortal women is probably up there.

OutwiththeOutCrowd · 04/10/2024 13:42

The craziest thing I've seen God not do is unambiguously protest about the stuff some human beings believe. I would like him to write in the sky in lightning :

a) No, your religious group does not have a monopoly on morality. There are some wonderful people out there who don't believe the same things you do!

b) No, you don't know what the Truth is!

There was this one time when my neighbour needed a parking space so she said a prayer and got one! Almost enough to make me believe again...

Lol that must have been the day my ex mil and ex sil were sat with me in the hospital praying that their god would save my son who had been in an accident. He did die btw but that was gods will so also an acceptable outcome in their opinion, and he might have been busy sorting out peoples parking. Almost as if prayer has the same outcome as not praying at all and it's all bullshit isn't it.

That’s not critical thinking, that’s you assuming that I’ve said that doctors can’t also find cures… which they can.

I’m just sharing first hand experience and it’s okay if you don’t believe me. I’ve had severe stomach problems before and was going to be heading to the hospital, someone prayed for me and all the problems disappeared in an instant.

I’m not talking people going off to the doctors and getting better, I’m talking problems disappearing in moments - injured backs, cancer, sprained wrists, lots.

I don’t have all the answers, and I do understand the questions… I ask them too! But God doesn’t control us and that’s why bad people do bad things. I’m just sharing my experience, which to me indicates the presence of God. It doesn’t take away the questions but it also doesn’t take away the miracles I’ve seen.

Also this 😂🙈 I was just innocently asking for peoples experiences

I find it fascinating that people believe they have guardian angels. Why doesn't everyone have them? Are some people worth more than others?

That is horrendous and I don’t believe that was God’s will. I’m so sorry for your loss.

Like I said up thread I’m sharing my experience but not saying I have all the answers.

I hope to goodness they didn’t tell you it was God’s will. 💐

But if God is omnipotent and omniscient, how could any event be other than God’s will?
