I went in being completely open minded. I don't need to think I believe it or not. I'm glad I went and it was a great show.

She was fantastic. 2hrs live show. No breaks.

Would love to know of others experiences.

The cynic in me, says she should could get all from Facebook .... linked in etc .. it's all there to see.

The non cynic, she new exact names, exact circumstances etc

Would love to know others thoughts.

Ill just add, no money changed hands and id never met this chap before in my life

Darren Brown isn't a medium and he does exactly the same stuff. Creepy as fuck

Puppylucky · 23/11/2022 21:02

Haven't read the full thread but thought I would share my experience. Years ago I attended a spiritualist circle where a psychic artist was in attendance. He drew the spirits he could see, which included a drawing that looked like my very much alive brother standing behind me. I obviously dismissed his ability until a couple of years later, when a very old photo of my father's family was unearthed and we realised that my paternal grand father - who died when my father was 8- was the spitting image of my brother and hence of the psychic's drawing. That combined with other experiences has made me very reluctant to draw rule anything out.

If someone dies, i think its dangerous to try and cross that divide, dying is part of life and it should stay that way.

My partner died when he was 34, but a woman i had known since a child and who i trusted 100% offered the chance to contact him, i refused & v glad i did, but i also believe she could have made contact with my partner had i so desired.

She said the dead's spirit hangs about for a while and then goes to wherever, i can't remember, she herself died a while ago, so i can't ask her... ironic really.

Let the dead rest and the living grieve.

Try reading the attack of the unsinkable rubber ducks by Christopher brookmyre. It’s very insightful (as well as being a great story well told).

I met a young guy in a pub and guessed what he did for a living and spun it in a way that had him gob smacked all a bit theatrical of me and joking I had powers. I am just a very observant person that’s all. Peoples hands, clothes, shoes, lines on their face give away a lot.

Don't be so naive.

She had plants in the audience using a rehearsed script.

How do you explain them knowing things you have t discussed ? I saw one she knew relatives names , jobs. I never said a word.

Hi could you maybe pm me the ladies details please x

samthebordercollie · 23/11/2022 21:22

Derek Brown has made his opinion on mediums quite public, and it isn't flattering! There are so many tricks they use. It's more fascinating learning about that than watching a show.

Took my mother as a birthday present to see Derek Ackora (or whatever it is) she likes that kind of stuff.
Was abysmal, complete load of old shite.
It wasn’t a full house by any means, at the half time interval, there were even less as most left.
I honestly came out thinking that he should be ashamed of himself for ripping off people who could be vulnerable.
Think he died a few weeks later but still, horrendous.

I've seen Derrick Acorah at a live show years ago. He was rubbish. Everything he said could have been related to someone in the room.

Actual names? First, middle and surnames? Actual jobs? ‘She worked at X company doing exactly x job’?

Derren Brown I find him unnerving at times but he fascinates me. I love his stuff.

I wish Derren Brown would actually explain things though! On his old shows he would do a ‘medium evening’ or seance to demonstrate that it’s not really because he doesn’t have any powers yet can pull it off, but then not actually explain how he managed to do it.

She guessed then. She read your reaction and cast until you locked on.

Massive sceptic here. A lotbos gleaned from body language. Age , who they are with. Probing questions.

It's all bollocks. But a clever act and interesting non the less. But take it for what it is. An act

Have a look at James Randi on YouTube. He explains a lot of stuff. It has all been debunked and a lot of stuff can be found online. Funny story, James Randi did median evenings to prove that it was all nonsense and anyone could learn how to be a 'median'. He did it so well that nobody believed him and they all thought he genuinely was psychic. He'd say 'really, I'm not psychic' and his audience members would reply with 'sure you're not, wink wink', so he had to stop due to it backfiring and how uncomfortable made him feel.

MoreHairyThanScary · 23/11/2022 22:28

I went to a spiritualist church many many years ago with a family member. There was no cost.

The speaker knew info about me that they could not have known, they were very reassuring and calm and gave me a sense of peace.

She said her whole name like that? Just out of the blue? But didn’t say her surname?
