Welcome to Friday sisters.
Another frosty start has given way to bright sunshine, but still very cold here.My calm morning has a backdrop of noise from workmen tearing up the ground to lay cable. They started a few days ago and now edging closer to my house so I dont think the work and noise will be over anytime soon.
I am not sure why it is needed, internet is already good here, I believe Virgin use their own system, so although connections already exist, business decisions mean the ground has to be torn up again.
All seems uneccessary.
I may take myself off to my favouorite charity shop as an escape if it gets too much!
But then I remind myself that the internet is a wonderful tool for connection, learning, sharing information, bringing people together.

In the words of Mother Shipton-
"Around the world men's thoughts will fly
Quick as the twinkling of an eye" published 1641.

Good evening sisters, thank goodness it's Friday! Another busy week at work so I'm looking forward to a couple of days of to recharge.

Speakout. I feel your pain! They seem to be digging up every other road where I am at the moment. I'm never really quite sure why, but I guess it's important!

Hills I'm not sure what the answer is to limiting beliefs. I've caught myself so many times this week, telling myself that I can't do something. I guess awareness is a start, and consciously making an effort to challenge my thought processes when I catch myself doing it. These kind of thought processes are so deeply ingrained, I don't think there's a quick fix.

speakout · 10/04/2022 06:59

VioletCharlotte

I hope you have had time to recharge. A wonderfully quiet weekend here, even managed to avoid the shops which has been lovely.
Have been reconsidering planting tomatoes, but probably left it a little late. Tomato shortages shortages in the shops right now.
I would love to grow more produce, but limited by a small garden and time restraints.
We have become so far removed from the earth, it is important to find opportunities to recconect.
I was planning a quiet afternoon of tea and Tarot, but plans have changed and the house will be busy. Thankfully I have batch cooked food in the freezer, will rustle up some breads and salad.
I am off to a yoga class soon, a dynamic yoga class, I do tend to pick and mix my styles a bit, but living in the country we have to take what we can. City dwelling offers many more options, but I feel very grateful for all the classes I can attend in my village or surrounding area.
Wishing everyone a cal/fun/soothing day.

Our garden space is ridiculously limited as well - not just in actual soil, but in sunshine - but now the weather has turned again I'm going to plant my pots of runner beans today. They always seem to do well somehow, even without much to work with. I need some of that energy in my life.

Ogress good to hear of your success with beans. I love bean plants too, so vigorous, with such pretty flowers- worth growig for that alone.
The previous owner wasn't fond of gardening, so I am gently coaxing gaia back to life here.
I am blessed with woodland in every direction, so although my garden is small the forest is literally on my doorstep, starting with three grand sycamore sisters who are my guardians.
The first two other family members I have seen this morning are both in a snippy mood- one is a bit tired and hungover ( OH) and my mother who is in a flying panic as she gets ready for church. Every week we have the same conversation- she thinks the service starts at 9am, but it is 10. I have to get my OH to remind her as she believes nothing that I ( or any other woman) says, she needs to get the authority from a man. Then she will accept the information.
My house is like a sit com!!

I have chosen a card for our group today for guidance- The Star.
She will lead us to a place of balance, knowing the cosmos exists outside but also within us.
We all contain star stuff. We are divine, let go of limiting beliefs.

Morning all!

We spent most of last week on a break in London. We walked about 20,000 steps every day and ate wonderful food and spent a lot of time in museums. I was worried about how I would cope, as lately I have been struggling with going out but actually I was fine. In fact I would go as far to say I really enjoyed it and felt a bit deflated to get home and not be going out somewhere with hustle and bustle!
Our 9 year old positively thrived, and though he displayed a little anxiety at times it was mostly about navigating the public transport so we used it as a learning experience to help him understand the Tube and bus routes.

I spent a lot of yesterday in the garden, preparing things for potting on seedlings and sewing more. I will use a local garden centre to buy my tomato plants as I never have success raising them from seed.

VioletCharlotte · 10/04/2022 14:29

Queenrollo sounds like you've had a great weekend! I love going to London, although nowadays I'm always pleased to get home again as the noise and the amount of people gets too much after a while. I do enjoy the diversity though and there's always something to look at. I used to go up a lot before Covid. I think many of us are craving some time in busy, bustling places after the quiet of lockdown - it's all about balance!

I grew some tomatoes last year but they were a bit tasteless and disappointing. I remember how amazing the ones my Grandad used to grew tasted. He had two greenhouses and grew tomatoes and cucumbers, and in the vegetable patch he grew runner beans, carrots, potatoes and all manner of other fruit and vegetables. I have many happy memories of helping him as a child. I would love to grow my own but I just don't really have the time, plus nothing seems to grow in my garden anyway, the soil is so poor.

I've had an enjoyable morning kitchen witching. I love cooking when I have the time and I'm not catering for other people! I've made a nut loaf for a roast dinner later and a vegan chocolate cake. Vegan cakes are very hit and miss, this one looks ok though so hopefully will taste as good as it looks!

Speakout I do envy you having the forest on your doorstep. I'm off to my forest now with the dog, but it's a 10 minute drive away. Not far, but it must be lovely to step out your door and be amongst the trees.

Sunday blessings to you all.

Aerwyna · 10/04/2022 17:40

I’m very inspired by the energy in our witches kitchen. I’m another one who has been tired and got myself stuck in the mundane recently but coming here reminds to that there’s always ways to connect and weave our magic. I’m very lucky to live and work in a beautiful semi rural setting which makes moments of connecting with nature energy very accessible. It’s interesting though how I used to seek this out more, and arguably connect more in a way when I lived and worked in the city. Something for me to think about.

What a wonderful card you have pulled for us speakout, thank you so much for bringing that healing star energy to us today

It’s good to hear of growth magic in planting and gardening, kitchen witching and the joy of an adventure. So many different ways to shift and change energy which sures up our roots.

I’ve had a quiet weekend, much needed. Wishing everyone the energy they need this evening

speakout · 11/04/2022 08:27

queenrollo I am glad you enjoyed your time in London. I too find cities overwhelming, but it sounds like your DS has very infectious energy!
Outings with children - small or big can certainly help us reframe things.
I hadn't thought about buying tomato seedlins- a good idea, although this year I am thinking about varieties of chilli peppers.
VioletCharlotte your cooking sounds delcious- I have a yearning for baking at the moment, but need to lose a little weight from my middle- cake would be far too tempting, nothing beats home baking.
DD came over yesterday which was lovely, I made her lunch and dinner, and we sat on the sofa drinking tea under blankets while we watched The Hundred Foot Journey, a heart warming tale about an Indian chef in France. Bliss.
Aerwyna sorry you are feeling tired and in the rut right now.
I constantly need reminding about self care.
I can easily remember when things are good and energy high, but when I need it most I seem to develop a self care blind spot. I love when people remind me to prioritise self care, and I in turn pass the reminder back to them.
A busy day of work, laundry, cooking here, I like to have things to listen to as I work, this is a very interesting pod cast about the witches of scotland, and the recent goverment apology.

Doing some laundry magic today and as I came back from hanging it on the line I noticed my self seeded lemon balm has quite a bit of growth, so I am having my first fresh lemon balm infusion of the year! Just a teeny bit of honey to sweeten it - from my neighbours hives, and my garden is always full of bees so I like to think this honey is from my garden too.

After a very low phase (mood and vibrational energy) I feel myself rising again. I did a meditation from The Witches Cookery yesterday, while I was in the bath. I felt so enthused by it that when I got out I went straight into the garden in just my towel and stood barefoot on the grass. It was a little cool to be honest but I feel incredibly pulled to connect to the earth in a more meaningful way. I think as Spring awakens the plants and wildlife, it awakens me too!

HillsBesideTheSea · 11/04/2022 13:35

VioletCharlotte the taste of the tomatoes is down to the variety also. A lot of the plants that have been selected for being heavy croppers do not have the taste. Alicante used to be the variety my grandfather grew for flavour but it does not grow here at all. We have much better success with money maker which was a old variety. But i can't attest to the taste as I can no longer eat tomatos. People seemed to enjoy them. The other thing that will effect the flavour is the minerals they have access too which can be helped by organic matter and soil building techniques, or old fashioned fertiliser routes. But you can have the best soil in the world and a modern high yield low flavour plants and still have plants that taste of watery nothingness.

Runner beans grow well in a window box with little fuss and just watering. I have had 8 plants with garden canes in the past but depending on the size of the planter 6 might be more appropriate. Unless it is french beans, for some reasons they like to be able to hold the hand of a buddy bean so can be a little more dense. High density might lessen yield a little but feeding once a week can help with that.

You don't have to grow a full veg plot to grow something. And when life is busy a few plants of something is good for the soul without being over whelming.

I am very time poor atm, there is so much i wish and need to get to, but i need to remember i am one person and cannot do EVERYthing. I can do ANYthing but not everything. why can't i be super human? it would be so useful!

AnotherCrazyBirdLady · 12/04/2022 12:03

Hello, all! Lovely to read of the gardening magic on here! For the past few years I have been planting seeds from a Piccolo variety of tomato and have had good results - very tasty! I'll not be doing it this year because I don't know where we will end up living, so shall be living vicariously through this thread!

This is such a stressful time but I am making sure I eat well, practice regular yoga and give thanks for any blessings that come my way. I keenly remember how I used to feel when I didn't prioritise these things, and this spurs me on to include them in my life whenever I can.
Spring is well underway here - the blackbirds have chicks and all the other birds are busy building nests and squabbling. I had to laugh yesterday when I saw a robin and dunnock fighting - really going for it, and a male blackbird actually got between them and broke up the fight. Sometimes we all need a bit of peace!
I hope everybody has a calm, nurturing day x

I hope all my sisters are set for a relaxing or fun weekend.
Oestre is such a lovely festival, so full of new life and fresh beginnings.
We also have a full moon tomorrow, and a rare planetary alignment on Sunday, with Jupiter, Mars Saturn and Venus joined in a cosmic dance.
We are also going through a few days of intense solar flare activity- so the sky is jumping!
I have a few days off, and so far today been to a dawn yoga class and had a reflexology session- my first, it was lovely.
Now taken delivery of my DD who has a stomach bug and needed to come home for some TLC. Which is fine. We will have her back to wellness soon.
Enjoy your day sisters.

I'm full of cold and my DH just recovered from flu, then hurt his back. It took me 3 hours to get him up off the bathroom floor. I actually called an ambulance and was told it was looking like a 10 hour wait!
Anyway, eventually he bloody listened to me and I got him up and moving though he is now having to take things very easy.

The weather is glorious though and so I am battling through my cold to move myself back into my She-Shed ready for the full moon. I'm just about to go and smoke cleanse it and then put in a vase of herbs and greenery from the garden.

speakout · 16/04/2022 07:08

queenrollo I hope you are feeling better today and you are able to take advantage of the full moon energy.
I was planning a trip to Costco today, getting there as soon as doors open, but DD is here and I want to stay and attend to her needs. We may go later, or OH may go alone. She had a good night, no more vomiting, and I slept like a log after having my reflexology yesterday.
A quiet day is in order here I think. Everyone tin he house is asleep right now and not a sound from outside. I love the stillness of the morning.
Today's full moon is known as the Pink moon , Sprouting moon Egg Moon in celtic mythology.

I hope you're all enjoying this fabulous weather. After the long winter, I can almost feel my body soaking up the solar energy.

Speakout thank you for the update on the cosmic energy, there's a lot going on at the moment. I seem to have been flipping between periods of very high energy and complete exhaustion over the last couple of days.

Welcome to our cosy witches kitchen Genexer. It's good to have you with us. I hope you enjoy reading through the old threads.

Speakout I hope your DD is doing ok - is it norovirus? I know it's doing the rounds in the hospitals down here. I hope she has had a restful day and will start to feel better soon.

Queenrollo I hope your cold is better, I'm very envious of your she-shed!

speakout · 17/04/2022 06:20

Happy Ostara sisters!
Hopefully wewill get some sun today, yesterday was overcast and dull.
A full house here, DD is on the mend but tired, she does think it may have been norovirus, but feeling better.
I am off for a long morning shower with lemongrass and grapefruit oils, then a 9am yoga class to start my day, then spending time with my family.
I hope everyone has a blessed day

Morning all.

VioletCharlotte it's a teeny hexagon shaped summer house, and it was here when we moved in. It's been a dumping ground for garden stuff for years but during the first lockdown I claimed it so that I had a space away from everyone to relax. It really saved my sanity!

I'm still very cotton wool headed, but the rapeseed is flowering and I think I have a combined cold and hayfever.

Glorious sunshine though so I am going to spend the day in the garden.

Aerwyna · 17/04/2022 10:23

Thank you speakout, I hope you have a blessed day too and a very Happy Birthday! FlowersStarCake

queenrollo your tiny hexagonal retreat sounds fabulous, just the thing for a bit of sanctuary. I hope the head congestion soon eases and you enjoy your day in the sunshine

Violet I’ve been really feeling this wild rollercoaster of energy too! I’ve been focusing on grounding to see me through. It feels like there’s a shift in progress too I think, it’ll be interesting to see how everything lands once the energy settles a bit.

Welcome GenExer, it’s good to have you join us, enjoy your journey through the threads, lots of juicy topics along the way!

Wishing you peace too AnotherCrazyBirdLady, I hope things feel more settled soon. I loved your tale of the blackbird referee! I’ve also had success growing piccolo tomatoes from seeds of ones I’ve bought from the supermarket

Springtime blessings friends, wishing everyone a relaxing day Daffodil

VioletCharlotte · 17/04/2022 11:05

Ostara blessings sisters and birthday wishes to Speakout. It sounds like you have a lovely day planned filled with yoga and family.

Queenrollo it's so important to have some space where you can get away from everyone. I honestly don't think I could ever live with a partner again, or if I did I'd have to insist on separate bedrooms. My room is my sanctuary (only my dog is allowed in!)

Aerwyna lovely to see you. I'm focusing on grounding too, spending time with family, getting out into nature for long walks, and just spending time alone. I've no desire to be anywhere crowded, so although I'd love to get down to the coast for a walk, I'm going to give it a miss over the bank holiday weekend! I'm heading out to the forest instead.

TotoAnnihiliation · 17/04/2022 13:09

Happy birthday @speakout

speakout · 17/04/2022 15:35

Thank you for the birthday wishes dear sisters.

queenrollo I love the sound of your summer house. The hexagon is a sacred shape, representing beauty and harmony, and is associated with bees, as their honeycomb is built using hexagons. Very magical!
