Or Wiccans. or Pagans? Or anyone who is interested in a magical path or feels some magical stirrings.

A place for support, learning, swapping ideas and magical inspiration.

I hope today goes as well as it can, @speakout Wishing you peace for the sadness but that the celebratory part still brings a positive element.

Aerwyna · 28/10/2021 12:39

cuppaTandchill · 28/10/2021 16:41

Sending positive wishes @speakout
Hope today goes as well as can be and you are soon home with your comforts and reflecting mindfully.

cuppaTandchill · 28/10/2021 16:46

I have had a lovely day out today with my mum and DC. We love to drive far out to small towns and have a good rummage around charity shops. I picked up an absolutely fabulous long cardigan that is so soft. I can not wait to wear it Smile

It's been a lovely day here. 17 degrees but very windy so it felt lovely strolling around in the breeze with all the colourful leaves swirling around.

I am now home with my feet up and a nice hot tea. No cooking for me tonight as DP has cooked so I will be having a nice relaxing night reading.

Verbena87 · 28/10/2021 18:44

Hope today was ok @speakout

We had a lovely one too. Very very blustery walk on the moors watching the crows play with the wind.

Thank you all for the energy yesterday.
The event was enjoyable and I felt calm.
Glad to be back in my sleepy litte hollow!
The support of this thread is powerful!

Good morning, all! Glad to hear you enjoyed your event, @speakout, and you were able to keep your calm.

The weather here has been wild - I just managed to get the shopping in before the heavens opened, so I opened the back door and enjoyed the deluge from a warm and dry spot. It's supposed to brighten up here later, which will be lovely, I will open the windows wide and invite the solar energy in.

How is everyone faring in Scorpio season? I've got quite a bit of Scorpio in my chart, so I like the intense introspection this time of year brings, and always work with Tarot or other divinations.
I have quickly pulled the King of Swords. To me, this King is all about intellect and knowledge, even harsh words. Perhaps some on this thread are being a bit too hard on themselves? Not giving themselves the credit they truly deserve? If so, take inspiration from this King, and stand tall and straight and have total belief in all that you do - words and thoughts are power!

I'm going to zoom off now for a tidy up and straighten out - love to all xxx

glad yesterday went ok speakout

I am heading towards mundane burnout fast. I have things i want done by Sunday evening. I fear my goals are unrealistic. have been listening to a lot of very thought provoking podcasts recently. which have been planting thought seeds as to what my beliefs actually are, where i see or would like my practice to go and what my personal ethics are. I have no answers to any of this yet. But it has been very growing and challenging to consider all of this.

speakout · 29/10/2021 13:33

AnotherCrazyBirdLady Lots of wild weather here too, torrential rain for days, lots of local flooding. A few towns near here have have had rivers burst and evacuations.
I have a river very near me, just a few hundred yars, but it is deeply gorged, and has never been known to flood.
Local schools have a half day on a Friday here, and despite the rain the streets are jumping with little wizards and witches, as some schools allow dressing up on the last day before Halloween..
Our local community groups have pushed the boat out- really making a statement to remember our dear murderd sisters from the burning times. We have now a witch's garden of remembrance smack in the middle of town, and a seating area has been decorated with 6 home made witches which flutter in the wind for Halloween.
Also just found out that the church which was home to a brutal witchhunter is up for sale! A church since 1350 AD, falling congregations means it is being sold off. No idea who would buy it, there are an estimated 14,000 bodies in and around the tightly packed immediate area. Some of you may remember the broken tomb/fairy garden tale!
The building is listed and full of history, so won't be demolished, and there is an obligation for preservation but I can't say I am sad to see it happen.
My small local town is becoming very pagan!!

Speakout I'm so glad you enjoyed your event. I find lately that I feel a sense of trepidation about large events. Not so much because of concerns about Covid, I think it's just that I've become used to being at home so I'm more aware of how others energy effects me. I find it much more tiring than I used to. I'm pleased that you felt calm.

It's wild and witchy weather here too! I was lucky enough to time this afternoon's dog walk to miss the rain, so it was fun to walk in the wind, with the brightly coloured leaves swirling around. Lots of pumpkins and houses decorated ready for Halloween. We used to always have parties when the boys were small. Now they have their own plans of course, but both have been reminiscing about how much fun they had.

Interesting to read the church is being sold off Speakout. Just reading about it sends shivers down my spine, like you I can't imagine who would want to buy it. I guess some people are just less sensitive to energies.

speakout · 29/10/2021 20:27

VioletCharlotte I feel exactly the same about big events, busy cities, so much chattering and energy flying off in all directions. I know some people find it a buzz, but I find it overwhelmig these days, I seem to be far more sensitive than I used to be when I was younger.
I was a city dweller for many years and enoyed it, but it isn't for me now.
I feel very blessed to live in a quiet place.
Your autumn walk sounds delightful, there are some spectacular colours around at the moment. I have a couple of huge fairy ring toadstools in my front garden. Each is about 4 feet wide and has 50 or 60 toadstools in each ring. The fae must be gearing up for a party!
I am winding down for bed with some herb tea, listening to some buddhist chanting- this one is very powerful.

TotoAnnihiliation · 29/10/2021 20:35

I hate busy places, I find they drain the life out of me.

@speakout I love how your town is becoming more pagan. How lovely that the witches are being remembered. How interesting that the church is being sold of, I suspect there is more to that than meets the eye. The mischievous caretaker and the fairies 🤔

cuppaTandchill · 29/10/2021 21:39

Oh how I wished I lived in a quiet rural town. It's always so busy and loud here. Doesn't help much with my sensory issues but for the time being, it's where ill stay.
What is everybody planning for Samhain? I love reading others traditions 😊

speakout · 30/10/2021 07:21

TotoAnnihiliation I feel the undercurrents in my little town too- three long established churches have closed in the past few years. We have a thriving community of guerrilla gardeners who have transformed the place, weeding, clearing, raising funds, planting, I know a few of these women- all witch friendly, we have a community group too who commissioned public artwork - highlighting individual women who were murdered as witches- it is a permanent display. There is a big appetite for raising awareness of the atrocities by the church and state, combined with the campaign moving through Parliament at the moment to claim justice for the witches- www.witchesofscotland.com/
So quite exciting times in my corner of the forest!
cuppaTandchill I am sorry you find living in a busy place stressful. Try to do as much as you can to grab some Gaia, most cities have some green, parks etc. spend as much time as you can in what nature you do have to soothe your soul.
I love Aerwyna's idea of creating internal places of calm to find retreat. I have his one of coures, our witches kitchen, wooden shutters on the windows, a big old fore nook, mismatched comfortable sofas, lots of cushions, curious on the wall, a big singing kettle and teapot, books, candles, friendly faces, brooms a place I can sit a while and lay down my burden, be understood and find calm.
I have other places too- one is a river running through a wood leading to the sea.The river has waterfalls, still pools, the trees are full of birds and wildlife. The skies are huge and the forest is full of tracks and trails. I have used this place for 20 years and have come to know it well.
My Halloween will be quiet this year, I don’t have traditions as such, every year feels different. Over the years it has changed, when my kids were young it was hectic and fun, lots of activity, dressing up, parties, trick or treating ( Guising) usually a very busy day.
Feels low key this year, pumpkins usually run out early in the week, I notice the supermarkets still have huge supplies left. I am guessing Covid has had a huge impact on the tradition- it will recover in time, but I feel there is little appetite amongst the muggles this year.
I will be taking some time to heal and salve. I plan some Tarot work and divination, I will take some time to honour my ancestors, but soft, quiet and peaceful.
I hope everyone will enjoy this weekend in whatever way is good for you.

Thank you Speakout and Aerwyna. What beautiful images. I thought I'd share these words I read this morning. I really loved this and thought you would too. Samhain blessing to you all.

On October 31st, we will officially enter into the dark half of the year. The Celts ― an ancient people that spread across Europe most associated with modern-day Scotland, England, Wales, and Ireland ― celebrated their "new year", Samhain, on this eve. Literally translating in Gaelic to "Summer's End", Samhain marks the time when the sun ― or, the Son of the Goddess ― dies and rests in peace until his rebirth during the Winter Solstice. The seeds of the harvest lie dormant and hidden deep within the earth. The leaves on the trees shrivel, the dark nights grow longer, and the earth freezes and falls into a somber slumber. What's more, Samhain was also the night when the veil between this world and the Otherworld was lifted, allowing humans to reunite with their lost loved ones and ancestors. 🎃👻

As the border between summer and winter, and lightness and darkness, Samhain is a celebration of Death. It was a festival of completion to show gratitude for both the labour sewn and the bounty reaped throughout the year. Simultaneously, it is a festival which acknowledges the very valuable time of rest, darkness, and silence that Mother Earth needs in order to revitalize herself for next year's harvest ― a reality that we, as humans, so often forget. While celebrating Death may seem sinister to some, it is a stark reminder that we live in a never-ending world of cycles. Life, death, and rebirth are seen in the natural world everywhere we look from the moon, to the animals, to the feminine body itself. Whether we like it or not, Death is a force we must not only be willing to come face to face with, but a force we must welcome and revere. 💀🍂

The fear that humanity as a collective holds about Death shows up in many areas of our lives, often to our own detriment. We cling tightly to relationships and people who were supposed to walk out of our lives months or even years ago. We hold onto jobs or careers that no longer fulfill us and drain our energy. We keep items around our homes that we never use, causing unnecessary clutter. We hold fast to parts of our self-identity that are false, because the known ― although destructive ― feels safer than the unknown and admitting that we do not really know who we are.

So, this Samhain, in honour of all that this sacred Sabbat represents and aims to teach us, I challenge you to embrace endings in as many ways possible. Instead of seeing Death and the ending of relationships, careers, things, definitions of Self, etc. as losses, seek to view them as a process of purification. Think of their removal and cleansing as the same process that the Phoenix must endure when it bursts into flames, burns to ashes, and is reborn anew. 🦇🌖✨

Samhain blessings, sisters.

The year is blowing out wet and windy here. Thick blankets of clouds cover the sky making all dull and gloomy. I rather love the sensation though! Winter is coming!

As the year ends I’m looking forwards and think I need a diary or planner with the moon phases and astrological phases for 2022. There are so many! Does anyone have any recommendations?

VioketCharlotte

Some very profound words about death.
Also gives me some clarity- I have been working on letting go this week as a way to deal with difficult situations in my life. Letting go of situations I cannot control, exploring how my desire for control is fuelling anxiety. I have been reading, meditating, doing shadow work, and a lot of thinking about the whole concept.
It didn't occur to me that the timing was so synchronous to Samhain, but not I read these words it all coalesceses in my mind. This is the perfect time for such energy work. THank you!

Speakout these words really spoke to me too. I've been clinging on to the past and old ways of thinking. This has helped me realise it's time to let go and allow change to happen in the way the universe intends!
