Welcome Gufo and Gwrach, it’s good to have you join us.
Oh wow BlankTimes I love your hooded raven, he’s fabulous! I agree he’d prefer to be indoors with you and think you’ll enjoy having his energy close by
Gwrach no one’s going to think you ‘crazy’ here. Fascinating to hear of your dream, thank you for sharing it with us. I agree with the aspects of the goddess interpretation and love that the crone has something for you. Befitting of the time of year.
How do you feel when you wake up? Are there any particular emotions you’re left with? I think these things can tell us a lot. Is the water in the lake still? (Water can represent emotion so we can derive meaning from whether it’s wild and forceful or still and calm etc) When you say you walk further down do you literally mean down like down a hill? (I’m thinking of the practice of ‘journeying’ where for me, travelling downhill or down steps represents visiting the underworld where we meet with guides and deities)
The cottage sounds cosy and certainly homely. How wonderful that you can smell it when you wake up. I know I had more experiences/dreams involving the crone as I embarked on perimenopause. For me it was about integration as I entered a new phase. Interesting that the call is to come home. To me the crone represents the wise woman and a phase of life in which we can become more comfortable in our own skin, or come home to ourselves.
I wouldn’t be too surprised by your connection with these archetypes, as you say they are deeply embedded into your culture and the collective consciousness, predating and often integrated into Christian traditions. (eg goddess/saint Brigid) In my opinion, dreams work on a deeper, more primal and subconscious level.
Interestingly I had an experience of meeting a particular goddess (/archetypal energy depending on how you prefer to look at it) a couple of years ago. I was also given an envelope by an older woman in my journey meditation. I asked about it here too and was given a particular goddess to research further and a suggestion to go back and ask to open the envelope. In my next meditation I could see the stone that was in the envelope. Incredibly I received this stone (representing the goddess) as
a surprise gift from a dear friend later that week. I had it made into a pendant and opened myself up to working with that goddess. My life circumstances have changed a great deal since then and I’m now living a happier existence very much embodying literal connections with
the goddess who I’ve been working with. I truly believe she guided me to where I was meant to be.
It sounds like you’re very intuitive anyway so I’m guessing you have an inclination of what the message is as AnotherCrazyBirdLady says.
If it were me I think I’d consider a journey meditation for further insight if you feel like it, maybe research Welsh goddesses and see if you recognise any aspects of your dream there, and enjoy the journey. However you look at it, working with goddess energy can be a profoundly enriching and positively life changing thing. You’ll always find someone here happy to muse the wonders of such
