AARGH!!!! The Christmas message for the village newspaper, that I was supposed to be writing, and which I thought had to be in at the w/e, has to be in tomorrow night AND its got to be pre-approved by the vicar!!!!! I've written something, it needs editing, so am praying I can put the magic of Christmas into it, whilst not depressing those who are on their own for Christmas!!!!

AND I've got a PCC meeting tonight... will have to finish it afterwards...

CaptainCaveman · 13/11/2007 17:49

good luck Mary, praying you get it all done in time!

Roseylea · 13/11/2007 18:17

hello all!

Mary I missed you on the telly! So sorry - will it be in the Virgin cath up telly I wonder? Praying that God inspires your words for the Christmas message.

CCM have a good rest this evening!

CD how is P now, little lamb? I hope she's okay.

Panda that sounds like a great event at school.

Podglet sorry to haer you've neen unwell. Are you all okay now?

Harrissey I'm praying for your "anger" service - hard stuff, as you say.
Hi DO, Suze, NSFN, NQGU, and everyone else! You all all right?

Well we are good good good - off to home group tonight. In fact it's been a really busy day so I'm flagging a bit! I had a fantastic chrisstian club session at lunchtime - 6 non-church teens and I sat around doing wordsearches based on John ch.10 - "Jesus said "I have come that you may have life, and life to the full" and chatting about what that means, our need for forgiveness and a new start, and Jesus' sacrifice on the cross and resurrection. Wow! Please pray for them, that these words will come to change their lives. I've given them a lovely sheet to take away with some of the "Good shepherd" verses on it, and one boy took one for his mum!

But...I'm not going to be doing the youth work as a job! It's quite amazing actually...the charity that co-ordinates and resources the secondary schools outreach has been looking for a part time worker for months, with no-one suitable on the horizon. 2 weeks ago they prayed at an inter-church prayer meeting that by the next monthly meeting, a part time worker will have come forward. So, in the two weeks since then, 3 people have come along (I one of them) any one of whom could have done the job really well! Isn't God amazing?! The guy who got the job was actually at school with me; we co-led the Christian Union together! He has a degree in theoolgy and has been a church youth worker - very gifted and just absolutely 100% right for the job. So I'm not at all disappointed as I can see that I am able to reach non-church kids in the job I'm already in, (and tbh I had reservations about the youth worker job anyway.) Obviously God has it all sorted out! But I am thrilled to be able to share my faith with the kids in my school. Praise the Lord!

DutchOma · 13/11/2007 18:55

That looks like it's all working out for the good Rosey. So are you staying on at the school after Christmas or are you going to leave? I've lost the plot a bit here

Roseylea · 13/11/2007 19:42

You're not the only one! Atm it looks like I'll be staying at work, because in all honesty it doesn't impinge on my dcs' lives at all (I only work during the hours they are at school anyway), I enjoy it, and I am in a place where I really can make a difference. If I end up leaving work, it'll be to free up my time so that I can direct it towards the work of the kingdom of God in other ways (doing more hospital chaplaincy, more church-based ministry etc) so I am praying and asking God to show me where I can serve Him best - to me that is the crucial issue, and it seems for the moment that He has out me in my job so that I can reach those who'd never even think of going into a church or have never even heard of Jesus. And I find that very exciting!
I am also learning a lot about leadership, which is interesting...

One of my reservations about the youth workers job was that the hours weren't as family-friendly - and if I felt that my working caused my dc any difficulties or was to their detriment in any way, I wouldn't do it, no question. But God has been very gracious in providing me with a job that means I drop them at school, pick them up and have the hols with them, and gives me enough time to do all my other stuff as well as being Mum and wife!

DutchOma · 13/11/2007 22:33

You certainly come at it from the right angle, Rosey and I'm sure that you will do the right thing so long as you ask yourself every time what the Lord would have you do. He will only be too peased to be asked.

Notquitegrownup · 14/11/2007 10:09

Aw your lunch club sounds lovely Rosie. Praying for those 6 kids - and the mum - that your words really will be seeds planted in their hearts and minds.

Good morning all.

God bless.

CaptainDippy · 14/11/2007 10:35

Yey Rosey - God is Blessing you - How's the tum btw??

Did you managed to get the Christmas message done ok, Mary??

Let us know more if you manage to get in touch with your friend who is in the mother & baby unit's DH, CC. Continuing to pray for her. Did you go to the R to M course in the end - Not lame of you AT ALL if you didn't sweetie .....

We're doing ok in DippyLand .... No mammouth sleep today Although she did wake up at 7am , which was nice I think the only reason she woke up was cos she had the most HUGE sloppy poo in her nappy (tmi) - yuk yuk yuk yuk yuk yuk .........

She slept loads yesterday, on top of her 17 hour marathon. She obviously needed it, poor love..... Not great today, all snotty and miserable, as is DD2 - DD1 now getting better - If it's not one, it's the other Going to a free Sure Start swim this pm - friend looking after P as I don't think it would be wise to take her atm. Very cos my 2 love swimming and we never get an opportunity to take them Please just pray for us all to get better soon and for a job for me ..... getting desperate ......

bobsmum · 14/11/2007 14:01

Hi everyone - sorry it's been a while (as usual!)

Rosey - that's great news about God's definite direction on the job front. The schools work team will be so grateful that they have an "ally" in the school - it can be a real battleground sometimes and they have a woman on the inside

Dd is a bit miserable today, we came back from toddler group this morning and she threw up a couple of times. She's never been sick before and so was more scared of what happened rather than feeling ill. She's asleep now, but I'm hoping that it's a one off.

Dh is job hunting - there's a small possibility of a job with a company based in the same building he's in just now. It would be permanent, rather than the contracts he's been jumping around with until now. It would be ideal if this was the right thing, but I guess you never know.

I would appreciate prayers for my parents. They've only just finalised the sale of my grandparents house and all the estate details and it now transpires that my great aunt has dementia and needs to be put in a home. My mum is her next of kin and is dealing with the social workers/homes etc, but it's only a couple of weeks since they'd finished dealing with my grandparent's arrangements, so it's all getting rather hectic and frantic. Both my parents work full time and could do with a bit less responsibility atm, but they're all my great aunt has. My aunt's being shunted around from hospital to home atm, but will hopefully be settled soon, once something permanent is found.

On a good note, we can count down to heating in just over a couple of weeks! In the meantime I'm off to bring in yet another scuttle-full of coal ....grrrrr.

CaptainDippy · 14/11/2007 16:56

Praying for your parents, BM & hoping gorgeous little DD is ok......

theUrbanDryad · 14/11/2007 17:42

hi - i know i'm not exactly a frequenter of this thread, but i think it's possible that prayer is all that's left to this family. here

if any of you could find the time to a) pray for them and b) write a letter to the MP's and councillors suggested that would be fantastic.

many thanks.

NorthernLurker · 14/11/2007 18:38

Thanks for the link UD - will pray

CaptainCaveman · 14/11/2007 20:55

Evening ladies - anyone seen our Sooz lately? If you're reading this Sooz, we miss you , come by soon!

How is everyone else this weds evening? I am tired (again!) but that is probably coz me and dh went to the pub last night and I had 4 glasses of wine
Gone are the days when I can go out drinking then get up for work the next day - not without severe knackeredness anyway!

Where does the day go? It seems like 3 hours since 8am, although it feels more like 24!

Oh, and if you wouldn't mind some extra ttc prayers for me for the next week or so...

CaptainCaveman · 14/11/2007 21:04

ooh, we've also made an appointment to go and meet the head and look round one of the two schools in our catchment area for ds. Can't believe we have to submit our preferences by 8th January. What?! Where exactly has the last 3.5 years gone??

school

I'm v excited because its a true CofE school!! Have a look and tell me what you think?

NorthernLurker · 14/11/2007 21:25

Looks lovely CC - looks to be lots going on - sport, concerts etc - hope you like it!

ZipadiSuzy · 14/11/2007 22:36

Hia CC - I am around, just lurking and praying with you all, but struggling on top of this big wide world atm with various issues, nothing I can't handle, just a bit overwhelming though.

My prayers are with you ttc! The school for mini-caveman looks lovely, aw mine will start sept 2008 they already visit at playgroup, sitting in with the reception children for storytime last 15 mins of lessons, their teacher is lovely!

Continued thoughts and prayers for you all!

ZippyLurker

ZipadiSuzy · 14/11/2007 22:39

Sorry just a few extra prayers for all your sickie babies atm, poor wee mites!!!!! may god take care of them and give you strength and support to CLEAN UP after them!

worzella · 14/11/2007 22:43

Hi everyone! I'm lurking too... hope everyone is well. I'm OK - just finding it difficult to manage my time... so prayers for that would be good.

CD - the school looks great - is it close to you? Prayers for ttc!

MaryBS · 15/11/2007 07:39

Hi Worz!

CD, I didn't realise you were ttc too!

Sooz - praying that your studying may bring fruitfulness and the results you so clearly deserve!

CCM - the school looks great, is the church the one you go to? Praying as you ttc too...

UD - praying for justice and compassion for that poor family. What an AWFUL situation

Rosey - praying for you, and your ministry. I feel in my heart you are in the right place atm, ministering to those children who don't know God and need to... God bless you in your ministry!

Harrisey, how are things at college? Maybe the anger isn't a bad thing, although as human beans we are led to believe it is. Shouting at God is better than denying his existance. Praying for peace for all concerned...

Better get on, so sorry if I've missed anyone

God bless all

Mary

(I did finish my Christmas message, haven't heard whether its any good or not tho...). Also wrote about a 1/4 of my essay last night, which was good going as its proving more difficult than I realised!

Notquitegrownup · 15/11/2007 10:04

Good morning all.

Nice to see you UrbanDryad! What a terribly upsetting case. At the moment I'm shaking with anger and upset for that poor lass. Prayer for her and for the social workers too. I know they have a really difficult job, but honestly . . .!

Phoenixsoaring is back online, using the new name of Paperchain. Special prayers for her and for the amazing Dumbledoresgirl as she supports her.

God bless all.
