Thanks Hills I don't run hot generally
But when I moved here it also wasn't that bad but then the area was targeted for high density housing and it became urban jungle

Sorry, this is boring. Just aware there's a lot of knowledge here.

hilariousnamehere · 27/02/2021 01:35

I can't help on the herbs front but when I'm too hot in summer I put damp teatowels and towels over my face and body and it's wonderful.

Currently I can't get properly warm except for the puddle of kitty fluff in my lap - think I'm overtired and burnt out but have so much to do this weekend :(

Going to start with a trip to the post office and a walk by the river in the hope that will give me the energy I need to power through?!

Any other suggestions for pepping up when you're running on empty much appreciated.

speakout that moon photo is glorious! And did you say you had an online shop? I'd love a link if you're allowed to share :) will need some treats when this current set of deadlines have passed!

speakout · 27/02/2021 06:53

Luna could you hire or buy a portable air conditioning unit? I think Amazon sell them for a few hundred pounds. But may be worth it if you struggle with heat.

The full moon reaches its zenith at 8.17am this morning, although the power was felt last night and tonight too. I slept so deeply.
OH has talked me into extending my work break over the weekend, I am decompressing well, and the house has never looked tidier!
A trip to the recycling centre this morning, I have a huge amount of garden waste for the composting bin, and found out that they also have charity shop hoppers open and accepting donations of clothes. I need to join the queue early though-I will get there before they open. Last weekend the queues were up to the 2 hour marker.
I had a wonderful river walk yesterday evening, I am so lucky to live just a 2 minute walk from a beautiful river, set in thick native forest I waded in the river and collected lots of smooth stones, they make pretty soap dishes and I plan to use a few to decorate my bathroom. Later today I will be planting seeds. It’s so good to have time off from work, pottering is my absolute favourite thing to do! I have some crystals to cleanse tonight, already sorted to be laid out under the full moon, and I have a small ceremony planned too.
This full moon in Virgo will turn our attentions towards our emotional needs, have we been running on empty, is stress causing us to feel frazzled or fuelling our anxiety? This full moon will give us an opportunity for self examination in terms of how we are reacting and dealing with our lives on a feelings level. A time to change, a wake up call, a chance to let go, release and relax.
Off for a spa shower, and a gentle yoga session to start my day.
I hope lunar magic finds its way into your lives today.

Good morning all, and hasn’t the moon been beautiful? It’s so uplifting reading your posts. Speakout where you live sounds amazing!

I’m planning a catch up call with a friend today, then maybe some writing. I’ve been re-working fairy tales recently, partly as play, partly as ritual to finally put some emotional baggage down. Fairy tales are full of useful archetypes, of course, as well as magic. But oh the original non-sanitised versions are dark!

VioletCharlotte · 27/02/2021 08:47

Speakout your trip to the river sounds wonderful. I'm desperately missing being near water. It must be lovely to live surrounded by nature. I'm so glad you're enjoying your break and feeling relaxed.

I too am feeling the moon's power. We've talked about this before, but I find it affects my sleep so I've had a bit of a disturbed night with lots of weird dreams! I'm allowing myself a slow start this morning.

Craftycorvid yes, the old fairy tales are quite something aren't they?! A long way from the Disney versions! Your writing sounds interesting

Luna I would try using cold water to spray your face. Fill a spray bottle and keep it in the fridge. It just be incredibly uncomfortable in your flat, especially in the summer.

queenrollo · 27/02/2021 10:05

My word - I was nodding off while reading to my son at bedtime last night, so I went straight from his room to my bed and I slept for 12 and a half hours solid!!
I feel a bit 'sleep drunk' this morning but hopefully this was a reset button as life has been very difficult lately and I have been so short tempered and utterly desperate for solitude.
With schools returning soon this solitude is within grasp and I wonder if my body is breathing a metaphorical sigh of relief.

I discovered Kelly Ann Maddox on youtube this week too, so have started to delve into her videos a little.

Blessings to all for a wonderful weekend.

Aerwyna · 27/02/2021 12:24

Good afternoon friends,
It’s good to catch up with everyone’s posts with a tea. Like Violet I’ve given myself a gentle morning.

I love reading everyone’s experiences of full moon energy and am comforted by working similar themes as my sisters here.

speakout your moon picture is absolutely beautiful. Thank you for sharing that with us. Like Hills it makes me want to take pictures too! A camera is something on my wish list, it’s amazing what phone cameras can capture these days but they don’t compare to an actual camera when it comes to capturing the beauty of the moon or other detail.

I’m glad to hear you’ve extended your pause from work over the weekend, your focus sounds very productive, clearing the decks and tending to your roots. Thank you again for the astrological info, I can feel that energy and it’s good to have that focus as I work through what’s coming up for me.

Luna I see you’ve had some good advice about the heat issue lots of food for thought. I’m inclined to agree with speakout for addressing the root of the issue with some sort of air con if you can. I think you’d be very glad of it in the summer. I use the attached ‘hot flushes formula’ (it’s from Valerie Ann Worwood’s ‘Fragrant Pharmacy’ book) for hot flushes. I wouldn’t put it on my face but sometimes use it on my arms and shoulders before bed. It’s lovely and cooling and smells divine! I use whipped coconut oil as a base. Just the stuff you can buy for cooking, whipped up with an electric whisk and then add the EO mix. As others have said, always check if the oils are ok for you. I know it’s not hot flushes you’re experiencing but it is a cooling blend. Just another thought to add to the mix.

BlankTimes your mention of homemade oat milk made me smile, I used to put similar in a bath (water poured through a sock filled with oats) for DS when he was little to calm skin conditions. He recently said to me that he remembers having ‘porridge baths’ as a child!

hilarious I hope the river gave you a boost. As a temporary pep for pushing through I use couple of drops of both rosemary and lime oils on a bit of tissue tucked in my bra. speakout has talked about simmer pots here before and this is a combination that would work well if you have the fresh herb and some lime peel to hand.
But if you’re running on empty you need to listen to your body and make time for rest too (also a lesson I can relate to) when I’ve burned myself out I can find it hard to settle when it is time to rest and so the cycle goes on. To help with this I’ll make myself some bath salts (1 cup sea salt, 1 cup Epsom salt + 1/2 cup sodium bicarbonate- there are many other recipes available but that’s just a favourite of mine) with 16 drops sandalwood, 10 drops palma Rosa and 18 drops lemon essential oils. I’ll put about half of that in the bath and have as long a soak as I can manage. My favourite EO blend for sleep (used in a diffuser in my bedroom) is the ‘Liquid Sleep’ recipe attached. I honestly think good rest is the key. I know that’s easier said than done!

queenrollo, you must have needed that sleep, I’m not surprised as you’ve had so much to process recently. I think your thoughts on reset are very apt. I hope today is gentle for you.

Crafty the old fairy tales are tremendously dark aren’t they- I love your use of them for shadow work and clearing. Like you, I find working with archetypes very powerful.

Violet I hope your day can continue in a gentle way and that tonight brings more restorative sleep. I’m feeling the full moon energy acutely too, there’s a real completion energy to it I think.

The sun is shining here brings a welcome boost. I’m still in the midst of clearing, both physically and mentally. Like speakout some of this weekend will be spent queuing for the tip! But the ‘out with the old’ vibe feels good and I’m doing my best to be gentle with myself as I go. Feels like an energy many of us are working right now.

Wishing everyone a magical weekend

I hope everyone is having a relaxing day.
It has been most spring like here.
I have finished tidying my flower bed, ready for new planting and sowing some seeds in the porch, some for outside planting later, some will remain indoors.
Five different types of tomato, chillies, juniper, fennel, sunflower and a host of different flowers.
All watered and tucked in - a gift to my future self.
It's always so exciting to see seedlings emerge from seeds that I have planted.
No matter how many times I have done this over the years the pleasure remains the same, never diminishes.

Aubergine and feta bake for my dinner tonight, takeaway for others.
And a deep relax- maybe a full moon spa bath later with some of my divine goddess salts made by a dear friend. Just divine.

Oh, Aerwyrna, thank you! Will keep all of those in mind and yes, the river worked wonders on my mood. And since getting home have decided to just tackle one thing at a time as far as possible - and on my own schedule. I can't keep on at this rate, as much as I love everything I'm doing!

Here's a view from a pause in my walk today 💙 river magic!

Ahh I'm sorry I mistyped your name 🙈 @Aerwyna

Delphinium20 · 28/02/2021 00:14

Just a quick check-in. I've had a lot of death, grief, sickness and loss the last two months and have been quite in over my head. Some of my coping has been negative 'doom scrolling' and obsessing over news. My DD reminded me of the full moon tonight and it was such a good reminder to just pause and be. So, I just wanted to pop in and say hello, catch up and thank you all for keeping this lovely spirit thread going. I'm lighting my candle tonight and it feels like I'll have a good view of the moon from my little place on Mother Earth.

queenrollo · 28/02/2021 07:58

Sending love and nurturing energy to you Delphinium - I know what you mean about 'doom scrolling'. I have pretty much taken myself off Facebook because even having hidden the worst culprits I still seem to have friends who obsess about current affairs and quite honestly I want to ignore it all!

I spent two wonderful hours in the garden yesterday, slept well last night as a result! I feel spring is really on her way now and bringing gentle hope with her.

VioletCharlotte · 28/02/2021 10:46

Good morning sisters. What an incredible moon last night! Yesterday felt truly magical, beautiful sunshine and blue skies all day, and a wonderful moon and stars last night. Just what we all needed I feel. I spent the day outside on a mammoth countryside walk with my friend. She lives just outside the town where I live in and is blessed to be surrounded by rolling fields as far as the eye can see. We walked for miles and talked and talked (with a pit stop for takeaway coffee and vegan chocolate cake!) Nature and female company is a powerful, restorative combination!

Queenrollo so glad you slept well, I know you've been through a lot recently. I agree that spring is on the way , it's lovely to see the snowdrops and crocuses.

Delphinium20 I completely agree about the doom mongering on social media. I have set my Facebook feed and selected the people and pages I want to see. On MN I'm selective about the the threads I look at (hiding the Coronavirus topic helps!) This thread is always a safe, positive place to hang out Smile

Hilariousname thank you for the image and wonderful river energy.

Aerwyna like you, I keep thinking about investing in a proper camera. The moon photos I've attempted on my phone are pitiful! GrinThank you for sharing the hot flushed formula, I'm suffering with these at the moment so this is timely. I've used your sleep potion in the past, and I would recommend it for anyone struggling with sleep.

Speakout sounds like you had a lovely day in the garden. Just think, only a couple of weeks ago, you were knee deep in snow! Nature never fails to amaze me.

I'm about to head out this morning for a walk with my dog. I might pop to the range this afternoon, I'm looking for a yellow lampshade to match my new bedroom curtains.

Blessings to you all for a peaceful Sunday.

Aerwyna · 28/02/2021 12:25

It’s a beautiful bright day here today and I’ve just spent a little time soaking up the solar energy, enjoying watching the birds in the garden. Definitely feeling the spring vibe too, it is very welcome.

speakout I loved reading about your seed sowing and agree the magic of this never diminishes. I have such a wonderful image of your porch, teeming with growth energy. You’re inspiring me to think about starting some seeds off! I hope you had time for that goddess spa bath Smile

hilarious that sounds very wise. I remember speakout speaking here before about the ‘danger of killing the goose’ This really spoke to me. It’s so true in any venture we pour ourselves into I think. If we want golden eggs we have to take care of the goose! Your river picture is wonderful, I love the way the clouds are reflected in the water.

Delphinium it’s lovely to see you. I’m so sorry to hear of your losses. Good to hear you’re taking care of yourself in terms of the media you consume. A shift in focus can make a real positive difference I think.

queenrollo it’s so nourishing being out in the garden isn’t it, earthing. Good to hear you slept better for it. I hope the weather where you are is conducive to more of this type of medicine for you.

Violet your Saturday sounds like the perfect tonic, so good you were able to get the nature/goddess remedy you needed. I’m glad the hot flush recipe was timely for you, I’ve also found these have helped me

www.vitabiotics.com/products/menopace-max-tablets-and-capsules

I have the urge but not the energy for a spring clean! I usually get this more in the autumn/early winter but this year I was preoccupied with other things. I’ll get round to it when I have the time/energy and in the meantime I’ll continue working the clearing energy in other ways. Like many of us, pacing myself and honouring my energy levels feels important right now.

I hope everyone has a magical Sunday

Delphinium20 · 28/02/2021 23:17

@Aerwyna thanks for the info on the vitamins :)

HillsBesideTheSea · 01/03/2021 08:01

Good morning.

Lovely sunrise here this morning. Not normally up to see it but I have a rather busy day with potential stresses ahead of me.

A while back I made some spiced orange sugar. Not got around to using it in the intended purpose of shortbread so stuck a teaspoon of it in my coffee for a little extra zing this morning. I would highly recommend it.

I hope you have calm days with sufficient energy and motivation to do what you need and wish to. Have a lovely one.

speakout · 02/03/2021 07:15

HillsBesideTheSea that spiced orange sugar sounds delicious. Would be lovely in all sorts of things, I am thinking a mug of hot cocoa too!.
This spring weather is wonderful. So tempted to go outside to plant, but I live quite far north, and we can get frost quite often in April. So have to hold off with seeds another two months or so.
I am back to work today, just starting my day slowly with my routines, while I listen to wood pigeons cooing in the woods. It's a foggy start today, thick sea mist ( we call it the haar) making for a spooky start to the morning, I am quite close to the sea, just a couple of miles.
Hopefully it will burn off later in the day.

I hope everyone finds magic in their day.

Sonmi451 · 02/03/2021 22:13

@HillsBesideTheSea The spiced orange sugar sounds delicious!

We've had a couple of lovely days here. Sunny, still chilly, but fresh and breezy. However, we got confirmation this morning that we're back in lockdown for three weeks, effective from midnight tonight, so that's not ideal, but it is what it is.

It does mean that I won't get a minute by myself though. I'm definitely an introvert and really struggle when I can't get any time alone. I've been trying to learn about Tarot, and have been drawing a card each day for the last couple of weeks (cups definitely dominating - over half the cards I've drawn have been cups). I won't get time or peace & quiet to do that though, so I'll be back to square one.

I'll read and catch up when I can - I'm also reading through the preceding threads, which I'm enjoying, when I get a few minutes.

Hope everyone is doing ok.

LunaHeather · 02/03/2021 22:29

I love the word "haar".

Aerwyna, thank you for the recipes, I am planning to try some oils.

Thanks to all who made suggestions re the hot flat and hot face!

I do have portable air con but it's incredibly noisy so it only gets used when the flat goes above about 27/28 but that can be May to October. I think it paid for itself in the 2018 heatwave frankly, I do not know what I would have done without it!

I have ordered a gel pack to fit my face, I don't want to spray it with water really. It goes in the fridge. I had to check about yoga postures which I thought might be raising my blood pressure but there's a lot of conflicting info out there. I think the main routine I do was - temporarily - raising it and that might be a factor in the red face. So I've modified it but also decided to do it every other day. I did it every day in Feb as a challenge thing but I don't fancy that going forward

I am still decluttering the flat, target to have things in order by end of March. I do think there's a lot of stale energy here and it's good to get rid of it. Mementos from the past are less easy to deal with but I honestly believe I have to let go of certain things and move on.

I still feel some of the loneliness that led to me discovering this board, but that in itself makes me realise the loneliness might have a point - how lovely to have found you - and I have a sense of clearing a path to the future. Nothing can grow if the path is choked with weeds and if no one has cleared away the old debris.

Aerwyna · 03/03/2021 12:44

Luna

how lovely to have found you - and I have a sense of clearing a path to the future. Nothing can grow if the path is choked with weeds and if no one has cleared away the old debris

Your beautiful expression of this sentiment towards our gathering here and focus on clearing the way really resonate with me. I’ve been doing a lot of clearing work recently. Mostly mentally and practically in relation to work, I’m itching for the time a d space to apply this to my home. I agree it can create big shifts. I love the part where the space (physical or mental) is cleared and the focus becomes about what energy to fill it with.

Somni you have my empathy with the need for time alone, in fact many of us here seem to need that to stay balanced. When my household was busier and more demanding I developed little strategies for grabbing a few minutes here and there to keep me ‘topped up’ Shutting myself in the kitchen to prepare a meal whilst listening to an audiobook or more latterly, podcast, volunteering for solo errands such as shopping or going to the post office etc, anything that gave me a bit of a bubble to exist in for a while. I still always try and stop to see the river for a few minutes when I’m out running errands. I’d also end up staying up later or getting up earlier than everyone else to give myself what I needed. I created a ‘retreat’ in my mind’s eye that I would visit in meditation before I went to sleep. For
me the most powerful factor was to frame these moments in my mind as space and really try to be in the moment. I know it’s hard with young children around or when demands are high, sending love and solidarity your way. Also, It sounds like you’re getting a lot from your tarot and I just wanted to say that I don’t think you’ll be back to square one for a break from it, what you’ve learned/gained is still there to be picked up again when you have time.

speakout I love the word haar too, I hadn’t heard of it before you mentioned it. There’s something ethereal about sea mist I think, very magical. I’m lucky enough to be fairly close to the sea too. Over the weekend I treated myself to sunsets by the water, such a beautiful liminal place, always seems to bring the perspective I need.

Hills I hope that all is well and your busy day went as smoothly as it could; that you felt the benefit of that zingy citrus energy.

It’s a much greyer day here today but the promise of spring’s new beginnings is still in the air. Wishing everyone a magical afternoon

Any Witches here? Part 13
speakout · 04/03/2021 12:05

A bitterly cold and blustery day here, squally showers, I am glad to be back home after my trip to the supermarket and post office. It seems strange that this time last week the weather was so warm and sunny, I am glad I managed to get so much garden tidying done, it is far too inclement to consider that now- I feel quite ahead of myself
Aerwyna I read with nodding agreement about your way of creating pockets of breathing room when demands are high. Your words are wise.
We can't always escape our responsibilities, but having tiny areas of respite within our day can make such a difference and release the pressure.
I like a change of scene too, even a 10 minute walk to the river or in the forest, I will often be the one to volunteer to go an errand, means I can have 20 minutes of music in the car, a blast of fresh air.
I know it is difficult especially with young children, their needs are so immediate, but when we are overloaded it is more important than ever to find time for self care, and an easy way to incorporate magical practice into our routine.

OP posts:
LunaHeather · 04/03/2021 13:36

I also like the term "sea fret". I haven't seen the sea for years though so that's probably why I have a fondness for the words.

Aerwyna thank you for saying that. I have never done anything like this so it can be hard to keep faith that empty space will be filled by choice, by good things.

speakout · 04/03/2021 16:59

LunaHeather I love that term "sea fret", I have never heard of it.

I know that disappointment of heading to the coast on a hot summer's day, only to find the haar- very common in summer- is rolling in from the North sea, causing a huge temperature dip and blocking out the sun.
It's very atmospheric and quite eerie.
It has been a cold day today, sleet this afternoon. I usually find some beauty in most weather situations- but it has been tricky today!

OP posts:
VioletCharlotte · 04/03/2021 18:23

It's a cold, grey day here too. Speakout I agree with what you say about being ahead of yourself. I cut the grass at the weekend and had plans to jet wash the patio this week and paint the fence. I had to remind myself it's only the beginning of March!

I've heard the word had before, but not sea fret (I had to look it up). I'm missing the sea so much, I'm counting down the days until we can travel further afield. I have a week off booked for mid April so I'm hoping to be able to go then. There's just something about being by the sea that helps put everything into perspective somehow.

I lIke the suggestions for finding ways to carve out a little space and time for yourself in a busy household. My DC are older so it's not really such an issue now (although I am looking forward to when they can go out and I can have the house to myself for a few hours!)
When they were little I used to look forward to the previous hour or so between them going to sleep and going to bed myself.

LunaHeather · 04/03/2021 18:51

Funny, I thought sea fret was in more use than haar (says the woman who hasn't seen the sea for years).p

I would love to see a mist rolling in from the sea.
At some point, I'm going to have book a couple of days near a very seaside but I'm not sure such places exist anymore and if they do, they are unlikely to be accessible without a car, sadly.
